    Re: mkharsh33 - NBA 2K11 - ALL STAR Sliders (12 min...real player %)

My latest results (playing with the sliders that were up yesterday, before today's update):

    Lakers (Me) - Magic (CPU)

    Points: 91 - 79
    FG: 33/68 - 32/75
    FG%: 48% - 42%
    3PT: 5/18 - 7/23
    3PT%: 27% - 30%
    FT: 20/26 - 8/13
    FT%: 76% - 61%
    Assists: 14 - 19
    Turnovers: 5 - 4
    Fouls: 8 - 16
    Rebounds: 39 - 34
    Off. Reb: 7 - 3
    Steals: 4 - 4
    Blocks: 9 - 1
    PitP: 34 - 26
    Bench Points: 23 - 25
    Second Chance Points: 4 - 0
    Fast Break Points: 4 - 2

The game felt really realistic, and although the CPU will still invariably go on runs, they don't seem as unstoppable as before (otherwise I wouldn't have won), so I think you've successfully toned down the cheapness. The CPU will make as many contested shots as to keep the game from becoming College ball with NBA players, but not as many as to make defending utterly useless.

you must be better at playing defense than me... i think i know why i have a hard time stopping the cpu: i freelance on offense too much. I probably run plays 25% of the time, and I think that gets my guys in bad spots on the floor, thus making me vulnerable to a lot of fast break layups by the cpu.

i will say this: the latest change i made which gives me a small advantage in the vertical and quickness have really made this game more fun. it's a slight advantage, but in reality, probably evens it up since the cpu is known for having a cheat in this area.

appreciate your feedback and hope you enjoy them. my goal is to get this game to play just like we see it on TV. spacing is key, and i want a "fair" CHALLENGE...

        Harsh,

Been having an issue on defense I never really noticed before. It seems to be a CPU money play on offense. Play against the raptors or spurs, or a team with a similar playbook.

The issue seems to be too successful screens/picks or maybe not good enough help defense. The play is a pick around the area of the paint that allows a forward to scoot out to the wing next to the baseline. The forward is almost always open and gets off a quick shot that almost always goes in, mainly because the defense is nowhere to be found. If you play against the Raptors this is the #1 play run for Bargnani, so it happens a lot for. This generally happens on man coverage but also occurs on zone.

Just wondering if you experienced anything like this. I tried setting defense to tight and double teams but it doesn't have an effect. I tried upping awareness but doesn't seem to matter since the player gets lost in the pick or screen. I'll see if I can upload a video later.

I just had a great game against the Bulls. It was a back and forth affair throughout the first half. In the third quarter, they went on a run and led by as many as 10 points, but I managed to cut that to 7 by the end of the quarter. Then, in the fourth, I was the one who became unstoppable, and I wound up winning the quarter 31-16. The stats were as follows:

            Lakers (me) - Bulls (CPU)

            Points: 87 - 79
            FG: 32/66 - 31/85
            FG%: 48% - 36%
            3PT: 5/14 - 4/14
            3PT%: 35% - 28%
            FT: 18/22 - 13/17
            FT%: 81% - 76%
            Assists: 19 - 19
            Turnovers: 17 - 7
            Fouls: 13 - 14
            Rebounds: 39 - 38
            Off. Reb: 2 - 8
            Steals: 6 - 14
            Blocks: 6 - 0
            PitP: 30 - 24
            Bench Points: 14 - 16
            Second Chance Points: 2 - 4
Fast Break Points: 0 -11 (misleading, as I did have a decent number of fast break opportunities)

The only negative point of my experience is that I was able to contain Rose pretty easily with Fisher. Rose should be able to blow by Fisher quite easily, but I was able to keep him from driving most of the time, thus making him settle for shots off the dribble and pull up jumpers. He made only 5 out of 18 shot attempts as a result, so I'm considering lowering the on ball defense slider for the user.

do you have your defensive help with the controller set up at 100?

If so, lower that way down... should help (or the idea you have).

I believe I have a firm "final" set. I'll post them later and we should be good with a base that can be tweaked to fit anyone's needs.

                Page 1 - Post 1 updated...

Double check everything for SuperStar in RED.

CPU will be challenging, fair, and provide a simulation like experience. Note the CPU shooting tendencies (bottom of page) were raised from 30 to 50. Game plays much better...greater flow to cpu offense and not as much one guy dribbling. ball rotations were actually fun to witness...

I haven't tried the latest updates yet, but I can already say I'm having a blast with the sliders. Combined with your 2011-2012 rosters, they provide an authentic NBA experience, with each team playing a different brand of basketball. I was playing against the Suns just now, and I was shocked at how realistic the gameplay was, it's like I'm not even playing NBA 2K11, but a different game entirely. I don't know what you did, but I can even tell good defenders apart from bad ones now. I was playing against the Suns, and I managed to smoke Nash with Kobe every time I spotted that mismatch on the court, forcing them to bring the help defense and at least foul Kobe.

I've been seeing all kinds of new animations, tendencies have really come alive, and it's just not the same game anymore. All the months of tweaking the sliders plus the hard work that goes into the rosters have resulted in what could be considered a total conversion for 2K11. I'm set for the season, now it's watching the NBA on TV and then playing 2K11 from now on.

I just played the same matchup twice with the newest sliders.

game 1 - detroit (cpu) at chicago (me). I lost by 24. got killed. started to wonder if i should just give up.

game 2 - same matchup. i won by 9. detroit shot 44% and I went from 36% in game 1 to 48% in game 2.

you'll need to bring it with these, but very rewarding when you play smart...

I think I'll stick with the previous shooting sliders for the CPU, as these might be making the game a bit too hard. The new tendencies make the CPU take smarter shots than before anyway, so I believe there will be a balance.

yeah, i'm seriously thinking about lowering the other cpu shooting sliders by i click down each.

I'm also thinking about lowering the controller defensive assist back down to 5 - might lower some of the bumping animations from the PG's (which is what I notice the most). appreciate your insights!

Super Star Level set updated... Unless something terrible happens, they will be my FINAL SET!!! LOVE the way they play - great simulation stats, fun, challenging, and a WIDE RANGE of outcomes.

Controller Defensive Assists now lowered to 5 (down from 100).

CPU On Ball Defense raised to 100... Don't panic - you can still get by guys with the good ball handlers.

Nothing feels cheap, and I LOVE the animations and player movements. If you're still playing 2K11 I think you will love this set...

Stats from my latest game against the Blazers, using the latest slider set:

                            Lakers (Me) - Blazers (CPU)

                            Points: 98 - 85
                            FG: 32/63 - 31/74
                            FG%: 50% - 41%
                            3PT: 5/11 - 2/13
                            3PT%: 45% - 15%
FT: 29/32 - 21/27 (plenty of free throws for both teams, which is a rare sight)
                            FT%: 90% - 77%
                            Assists: 18 - 22
                            Turnovers: 15 - 14
                            Fouls: 19 - 19
                            Rebounds: 29 - 30
                            Off. Reb: 2 - 7
                            Steals: 10 - 9
                            Blocks: 10 - 5
                            PitP: 34 - 40
                            Bench Points: 20 - 13
                            Second Chance Points: 2 - 6
                            Fast Break Points: 2 - 6

This was a fun game to play. Neither team managed to maintain a lead in the first half. I dominated the third quarter and thought it was going to be an easy game from that moment onwards, but Portland refused to give up and started the 4th quarter by going on a huge run that eventually put them in front. However, I remained calm, made some important shots, drew fouls, tightened up my defense, ran plays for Kobe and Gasol, and ended up going on a run of my own, thus winning both the quarter and the game. Matthews killed me in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but decided he would build a house in the 4th quarter instead of playing basketball, with all the bricks he threw up.

                                MK or anyone using these.
I am getting some nice games with the All star set but the fouls for me seem to be out of control. For the cpu they are pretty decent but nearly every time in the paint the cpu is called for a foul and i head to the FT line.
Playing 6min qtrs and i am getting to the line about 20 times a game which is obviously far too many.
Anyone have any more suitable foul sliders for the user without completely nerfing them?
