Is it just bc I am still new to this game, or does the CPU seem to hardly miss any shots, be it short/mid/3 pt (they do miss these at a more realistic rate I think)/fade aways/free throws/contact shots(at least way less than I do)? Is it maybe just bc my defense playing is that bad? And how the heck do I stop their quick-hit/fast break points? They seem to always have someone way behind my D by the time they get the defensive board on my missed shots. And I can't ever seem to get a fast break on them (I boosted fast break in my association too). I've had one game when I won something like 120-102ish, 10 min quarters against the Hawks (my Association is with the grizzlies). The other ones for the most part either get out of hand very early on due to their team of Supermen (didn't know Horford and Teague were so freakin good, ha...not to mention Joe Johnson and J. Smith's ridiculous selves...ATL is just fresh on my mind!) or inevitably they go on some crazy run if I'm ahead/I start missing all my shots again.

Any pointers to a self claimed n00b (besides play on a lower level)? Thanks!
Woah, a lot to digest there lol.

First of all, let me start by saying that I have been playing 2k since the Dreamcast days, technically since NBA 2k so if this is in fact your FIRST 2k game then you may want to think about lowering the difficulty for now. Not saying that you won't be able to play these sliders ( I think they are fair, but challenging) but there are so many nuances and techniques that have taken so long to learn and you are just starting. I'll try to address your points above however. First of all, yes the CPU hit's a lot of shots, shots that probably shouldn't go in. However, there seems to be a fine line in that if you turn the shooting sliders too low, the CPU will miss those shots, but also shots they should make. I prefaced on the first page that the shooting sliders can be tweaked to each person's preference. I don't see any harm in lowering them if you think the CPU is hitting shots they shouldn't. Just be careful not to lower them too far. You will end up taking away from the challenge.

Secondly, the best way to stop the fast break (which in all honesty the CPU kills me on too!) is when you shoot with your PG, SG or SF make sure once you shoot to be back on D. I have a tendency of shooting the ball then watching as it sails through the air, meanwhile the CPU's guards are hauling a$$ down court. When they do take off on transition, use your closest player to the ball to slow down the ball handler for the CPU. This will at least impede their progress down the court enough for your players to get back.

I know you said you didn't want to play on a lower level so for sure, if you start on HOF you will get good quickly. It all depends on how well you pick up the game I guess. This game is based on "runs". The CPU will make them and inevitably, so will you. When the CPU does either A) call timeout or B) go to your superstar for a bucket. Run plays, try to put points on the board with a bread and butter play or at least get to the foul line. These sliders should enable you to at least draw shooting fouls. Hope this helps! Good luck my friend...

If anyone is reading this and plans on trying these sliders, I have been thinking about upping quickness for User by 1 point and decreasing CPU by 1 point. I like the results I have gotten so far, having a much easier time stayin in front of the cpu players. Please let me know what you think if you decide to try this change.

      Thanks all!

Thanks a lot, I really like these. I had to make the computer better on defense by raising defense awareness but everything else works great.

I haven't played this game since the all-star break. I saw your post and played a couple of games. Whoa! Feels like a whole new game. As the Lakers, beat the Heat by 9, then lost to the Cs by 8. I can't remember the last time I lost to the CPU. I missed a few open 3s, but that's basketball.
            Good flow, good percentages.

            Good job Red.

Thanks Smoove...if these sliders can get you back into the game, well that's just about all you can ask. Glad you enjoyed them. Quick question, I assume you used the most updated version, how did you find your ability to stick with the CPU ballhandler? Where you mostly able to stay in front of CPU players that the guy you were controlling should be able to cover?

I've had some problems on D. Against the Cs 2nd unit, Delonte lit up Shannon Brown for 8 straight on 3 possessions. A 3, a mid-range J, and a driving dunk (and 1). I can't recall Delonte doing that since he was at St. Joe's.

                D. Wade abused Kobe a few times, but that's not too unexpected.

Held D. Rose in check last night but played off him for the most part, plus he was in foul trouble most of the game.

Hmm...you were controlling Shannon Brown or did you play off the ball? I've been trying to find a balance on D and thought that changing the quickness remedied most of it. There are times that a player goes nuts, I have no idea how to counteract that. It may just have to be a player thing, where you have to make adjustments on D in game.

I was controlling Shannon. I'm gonna play the Spurs later on today and put Kobe on Parker some and Manu some. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey Garrus, welcome to OS! Glad you enjoyed the sliders my friend. Though I can't stand the bulls, I'm happy to hear you beat the Spurs and Mavs but I woulda liked to hear you beat the Lakers too!

tried your sliders, looks great im just having real trouble to guard players. everytime they would just move and find space and get a layup/dunk.

Deng taking 25 shots was kinda dumb by the CPU.

Durrant took 30!! Just playin...there is something about Deng, when I play against the Bulls the CPU runs him off unlimited screens for 3pt shots almost every time down the court. It drives me nuts!!
