This app sucks up my phone battery faster than a USB 2.0 port can charge it lol.

None of my devices can keep up either... I was hoping my new LG G4 would do better, but no. I have to keep my tablet charged up along with my phone for playing extended sessions.
Which reminds me - how about a tablet optimized app CD so I can use it in landscape orientation?

Does the portable pack charge faster than the drain? I have one of those, but usually just plug in to AC and minimize the drain.

AC is faster for sure. i use it when i dont have access to an AC Charger. you need to get one that can charge fast (usually the ones that can charge iPads) and has a large battery capacity.

Look for ones with high amps for faster charging.

At about 900 games so I would like to get into the Epic tier for my 1000th QG freebie..
