If they did that, they probably wouldn't see a spike in revenue today. Judging by all the playoff cards in game already, they made a decent amount of money today.

Of course once more players realize the gap between players who spent money vs those who don't increased due to the patch, more players will quit and the app might die down. Without a community of free players + a community of spenders, there is no competition aka no reason to improve your line-up. The initial reaction seems to suggest a lot of "vets" or "big spenders" including Twista are thinking of or already have quit and even have gone as far as saying they'll never play another CD game again. If this holds true, then this patch might be profitable in the short run but end up backfiring big time in the long run.

Personally i'm fine with the patch and what happen but i'm not impressed with the testing (android issues) nor misleading patch hints as the biggest change (playoff cards) was not mentioned at all. Actually forget not being mentioned, we were mis-lead to tiers expansion with existing rewards...

Something as big as playoffs cards (aka new tier of BEST cards) probably should've been mentioned ahead of time so players would be aware. I'm sure anyone who bought Epic packs recently aren't all that happy now that there are new packs without warning. Those that spent time getting KD last RC probably aren't all that happy that his relative strength now has dropped quite a bit 1 week after getting the card (and as seen by most complaints today, a lot of the complaints have to do with RC cards). On top of that, testing to see if the App will run on the server should probably be the first thing before a patch... not being solved 8 hours after (since some are still having issues with android, my phone crashed, iOS is running flawless again).

Let me address a few of these points...

• When I posted the RC ranks and rewards that is what they were going to be for the next event. I mainly wanted to communicate the new expanded ranks. I had to post the old rewards just because we were not sure if the update would be out in time or not. The process for mobile games is we have to submit our updates in advance to the platforms and they have to approve them. Once we submit on some of the platforms we don't have control on when they get released, they just come out. We don't have perfect timing on the releases because of this. We could have stuck with the old rewards once the update came out, but then you would have people crying that the rewards sucked vs. the new tier of cards. I opted instead to have the new rewards put in because they are universally better than the old.

• As for testing, we absolutely test the app. Unfortunately, the bug which results in the crash you see on Android was very difficult to reveal. It involved a high load situation (which was caused by the rush to download the update when we pushed the new data) that is very difficult to simulate in testing. Not making an excuse as I want my software to work too, and I am ticked off when it doesn't, but it is unfair to say we don't test or care about the product we put out there.

• The Rivals Cards are not going to be changed. The old cards are still great cards and when they came out they were the top of the pile. As someone already pointed out the old RC cards still beat some Playoffs cards. We have a new card tier out and the new RC cards will be the top again. New content comes with new and better rewards. If we put out mediocre cards there wouldn't be much excitement over that.

NWGD, we all appreciate you guys hard work. Here is our reason why we want the old RC cards to be updated.

As you said, the old cards were the top card BACK THEN, every one of us who got the rivals cards were basically playing nonstop for 6 days, why? Cuz everyone wants that top card. Now, with the release of new cards, those cards aren't the top cards any more, we just don't feel good about having to waste 6 days for a not-the-best card, it is just not fair for the old players and it's just way too easy for those new guys

The thing I can't really understand is that some of the pros were complaining at the weakness of some of the latest RC cards and how they wouldn't crack their decks. Now that there is higher range cards available in RC they are complaining that there previous cards are too weak. You want RC cards to be better then the ones before it otherwise what is the point of participating? If you want the best cards from the RC you have keep participating in the RC, that's how it should be I think. There is no point in the first RC card being the best and then downhill from there as there is no need to play because you can't improve.

As for playoff cards, anyone with a deck full of legendary pros paid for that anyway. Anyone with a deck of playoff pros also paid for that. Just because they waited doesn't mean you can complain. So wait if it is easier/cheaper to get there. If you don't like, spend more to get your own playoff pros. This game is getting older and all games have sales or price cuts after a while. It's good business to encourage late spending. We should be happy that the game is continuing to be supported and that there is still something to aspire to for all player levels.

Yeah, not mentioning 2 new tiers of cards, that are GAME CHANGERS, after hyping this update for months was due to few hours/days it takes to aprove the update. Nice one.

Thats how it looks on Android. And yes i followed all the suggested steps. Multiple times.

Yea I agree the only thing making this update seem unfair to the "vets" is the relative unfairness every one else has felt for the last 5 months. You shouldnt have to spend 1000's to get a good lineup. Its unfortunate for those that did in the past, but this update makes good cards accessable to all, rather than 90% of people running Rare LU's. The Tiers had to drop and a better tier introduced to keep the game fresh.
And the RC cards had to get an upgrade. I agree the mistake was putting MJ and LBJ in the first clashes, the cards have to get better every clash so you cant use the best 2 players first. And retro actively updating stats is just ridiculous, If they did that where do you draw the line?
People keep bashing CD as greedy, but Im sure even they didnt anticipate grown men spending $12,000 on a mobile phone card game. Thats a new car or deposit for a house. They probably never thought an all Legendary Pro line up was possible with their drop rates and pack prices, but people did spend the money so the game became unbalanced. Dont be mad at CD be mad at yourselves, for spending crazy money/time into a game thats just meant to be a bit of fun.

I don't get the "where does it stop?" argument. It stops at the RC cards. That's it. What else is even an issue? Legends are Legends. Nothing needs to change. Epics are Epics. Rivals Cards should be Rivals Cards.
