I've gotten a couple already. Even combined Steve Blake common, lol. I hope I can get one of the newer epics if I win my season (currently in conference finals).

Did NW say if update, epics, applies to rewards for players currently in season or playoffs?

I'm in first round, would love to get a new epic.

If nobody has added any new cards to the spreadsheet we could just put a new column in and tag all current cards as 'pre' and then add new cards as 'post' update

Like I said before, it depends on your current stats and how far away that is from the guy with the highest stats in your season. There's no easy answer to this, and other people may buy epic packs or draft epics or legendaries too.

just saw the update... doesn't it seem harder to pro your epics now that there are dups of the same player but different cards? I hope drop rates increase a little bit or something..

None yet. Though I'm not interested in buying a few more. lol Of all the new additions I want the new Lebron since it is supposed to be better than the one I got.
