I just got into my first season with the new matchmaking. I was really excited and impressed that all the teams were within 200 points of my ~2200s. That was until I saw a 5k+ team. Now I'm sorely disappointed.

Half way through the season and I don't think a single human will make the playoffs. I'm legitimately trying to make it to the playoffs. Main problem i see is humans need to sleep, bots do not.

Back from my trip and can type out a longer response to all the Season comments...


1. I have said this before, but if you're encountering very long Season start times, please send us an in game Feedback message. We need to look at your deck and figure out why it is taking so long.


2. The Seasons with bots are mainly ones with higher end decks in them. This forum is biased with a lot of avid players that have very good decks. Hence why you guys encounter more of the bots than normal. We had to make a choice between continuing to add "trucks" to a Season in order to matchmake everyone, or to take the high end folks and stick them with bots to give the other players a chance to be in competitive Seasons. It's not a great option, but until we have enough players in the high end to match make every few hours with comparable people it was the less problematic solution. I hear the feedback though, and when I go in Monday we will be looking at the data to see whether it is resulting in better matches or not. If not, we will flip back to the old system and hit the drawing board again.


3. Season rewards - Before we touch Season rewards we wanted to get matchmaking improved. Touching a lot of things in a system like this will not give us the right understanding of why it improved, or not. We have discussed ways to improve the Season rewards that will work for low end and high end decks. Until we get matchmaking the way we like though, we're not going to implement the solutions. It is definitely high on our list of things to do for an update. It will not be in the next update we release though. That update is focused on other improvements (and if you own the console game you'll be really happy).


4. Keep in mind when Seasons show players with much lower stats, it is quite possible they are attempting to game the matchmaker. The last guy that posted an opponent with 300-500 per stat just screams, "I'll beat the matchmaker by putting all Commons," while the guy has Rare+ cards in his Collection. That doesn't mean the matchmaker is failing, it simply means it is working to prevent this type of gaming the system. The other part in "trucks" appearing in your Season still is probably related to players acquiring good cards after their Season has started and subbing them in. A completely valid strategy, and why we allow Sub Ins to begin with. If someone drafts or purchases a new card that is better, it is in their best interest to sub it in and improve their Season. Finally, training can have the same effect in increasing their numbers. Although the matchmaker does take into account the training potential of good cards, when someone does train you will see their numbers jump in a Season for "no good reason". There is a good reason, they trained.


5. 1st Round Playoff Reward - It is still set at a Pro card. If you get different rewards please snap a screenshot and post it in the bug forum please. We have discussed changing this reward, you should always be getting the best reward in a Season from winning, but we were planning on changing it when we do the Season reward overhaul mentioned above.

I got a question for nwgd, after reading the FAQ about seasons again it still Didnt answer my question, how can I be winning by the start of the 4th quarter and end up losing the game by 20 points

I obviously can't answer for sure but he did say that they are played similar to quick games so my guess is that you're up by one match with the scoring being 74-70. The computer then plays the cards and the other guy ends up tying it so we will say it's 90-90. With the game in overtime, his best card beats your best card in the selected category and the score just comes out in an arbitrary number to reflect the winner.

Those scores are just random as far as I can tell. They make it seem like it might be a close game to give you hope but it was never close.

HEAT for me but either way I'll be getting better at the positions i need. I really wish we all would have backed the rockets last time i really wanted the James Harden cards. He was better than Duncan in almost every category and i need shooting guards.

Another question for you guys when it comes to the seasons, should i put my best 5 in the starting line up or keep them in their positions? i have epic pro Joakim and Horford, Pro Power forwards Manning and Duncan and i have duncan in starting line up and Manning as back up to balance out both line ups. is that smart or should i put one of them at small forward?

Since the top 2 rewards are a SG and SF it doesnt matter which I pick, it would improve my lineup at the SF position regardless. Thus I vote with my heart, Bulls it is. If Rivals Jordan isnt better than Kobe though thatll be strange.

Your game went to overtime. We don't explicitly show OT in the report, but basically you tied up in 4th quarter then lost in OT (i.e. your 5th cards)

I honestly dont care that I lost because are stats were equal and I can't expect to win every game its just the way I described it that bothered me ha, cuz even if you go into ot in qg you only usually lose by 5. So I was jw if there was something I'm not seeing or what

Ok thank you for the response and clearing that up, I was just baffeled by end score i thought it would be a closer margin because usually qg ot are
