Kobe never had a season like Westbrook is having though. He is the only player in NBA history besides the Big O to average 31 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists in a month, which he did in February and March. He is leading the league in scoring, he is second in PER, he has 10 triple doubles in the season and he is having as good an all-around season as Lebron ever had.



Saying the team is 8th seed is unfair imo, the team started out terribly when Westbrook and KD were out. Westbrook missed 14 games early and played 8 mins in the game he got injured in, and OKC started the season 4-12. OKC is 38-20 since.

Doesn't matter, he won't win. Team record brings him down, it doesn't matter if they started out without him.

Kobe never had a season like Westbrook is having though. What Westbrook is doing right now is special, and if the MVP was actually given to players who meant more to their respective team mixed with overall performance during the season then it would be a battle between Harden and Westbrook. If you take out WB, the Thunder would be out of the Playoffs and prepping for next year. If you take out Harden, it would be hard to tell where they would finish.

Aside from that, if we're talking about just a month's worth of performances, WB's 31/9/10 is undoubtedly impressive. I may sound biased but saying Kobe didn't have a stretch equally as impressive is a little questionable. Usually a player with a triple double has more of an impact than a player who scores a lot of points. That is unless the amount of points a player scores is astounding. Kobe had 2 months in '05-'06 where he averaged 43.4 and 41.6 at over 50% shooting. His scoring streak in March '07 isn't as high at 40.4 but he had a 5 game stretch of 65, 50, 60, 50 and an off game with 43 points. That's 5 games consecutively. Again, Points/Reb/Ast vs just Points are a hard comparison, but I don't know about anyone else but those numbers are mind boggling.

Also, not to mention those some of those 50, 60 point games...he only played 3 quarters...

True, Kobe was fantastic back then, but the difference is Kobe played the whole season and the team still went 42-40 in 2007, and OKC has a better record than the Lakers did then, OKC does have a overall better team than the Lakers did though. Plus the West is a lot tougher now.
