Ok so with all this much Rp to start im confused with the card purchasing. it lists use guaranteeing to get from a certain grade if im correct depending on which pack you buy?

Some guys just don't have pictures yet on their new teams. NBA's Media day was 2 days ago, so we were able to update many of the players with at least those shots, but some of them still didn't have photos yet. The good news is that today we got photos for everyone and we'll get those in probably tomorrow. Once the new NBA season begins we'll replace some of these media day shots with pics from actual games. The joys of player movement in the league. :-)

There's quite a lot of improvements to the game this year. I like that pack prices are down in terms of real life money cost and give more than just a single card; however, I decided before the app to be a free player this year.

That brings me to the issues I see, in two categories:

1.) Some things can only be purchased with credits, and the only way to get credits is real money. The following are Credit only, that I've found so far:

• Season helps (Assistant Manager being the biggie)
• Star Contracts appear to only be available via a pack that can only be obtained with credits.
• Given the season helps being credits only, I strongly suspect that Hot Streaks will be credits only

2.) The main issue with game play is that there isn't much way to speed up the games when grinding. This means that the cheaters who have been getting away with speed hacking for 2k14 and 2k15 will almost certainly have the advantage again this year. That's unfortunate.

3.) The Ladder ends at just 1k games, and the 1k games reward is a Foil of whatever quick game tier you are in. Obviously people are going to want to get a Legendary from that, but getting to Legendary QG tier is almost certainly going to require spending money to get there before 1,000 quick games.

3a.) 1,000 seems like a really low number of games to stop the Ladder at. I know that CD took flak last year for spreading out the Jordan cards with so many games needed that they would never be useful by the time 99.9% of players got to them ... but this seems like a dramatic overcorrection in the other direction.


Best Thing So Far: Contrary to the dev diary, the season mode actually makes sense. The dev diary said that there would be 9 backcourt players and 6 frontcourt players, which made no sense. The actual season lineup asks for 3 of each position, which is way different than the dev diary which described season as "3 lanes" with three backcourt and two frontcourt players in each lane.

Props to the CD team for listening to feedback and adjusting it to be like real basketball.

Thanks for the write up SmartForce, as always you're good at analyzing the game. Hopefully as you play more you enjoy the deeper strategies with Start Charging, Abilities, and Specializations.


A couple things, the Hot Streaks will cost RP. Game Nights for Road to the Championship will cost Credits. At least that is the plan so far, we reserve the right to change it as always, but that's the plan.


The only place you can't speed up game play right now is when Abilities trigger or Supports are played. Something we have fixed already in an Update that we're working on getting submitted very soon here.


The Ladder is interesting. Obviously we purposely made it much shorter this year. As you get higher up in the number of games played, it becomes harder from a design standpoint to get the rewards right since it is difficult to predict what is useful to player that has played 10,000 games. It's good for early play, but once you get to mid-late game it gets wonky. So we capped it at 1000. Maybe we expand it in the future, but not really thinking that way. Mainly because we look to Goals as replacing the need for higher end Ladder rewards. Goals are much more expandable, and relevant no matter how many games you have played.
