First off, the incomplete patch notes are my fault. To be honest, in the course of developing an update we change a lot of things and I don't always remember everything of note to put in the release notes. We track all the stuff but through hundreds of changes I miss things. I simply forgot about the back button change, the delete button added, etc.

The back button change. We changed this because backing out of a losing game was never intended. We originally put the button in to fix a crash state you could get into during a game. We never designed it to "save your record" or to "save a Hot Streak". If there is no risk of losing a game then it really kills any strategy you have as to how/when you use Hot Streaks. If Hot Streaks were a guaranteed win every time then we might as well just give you a card that immediately adds +5 to your score. There is no fun in that. With the risk of losing a game you now have to think, do I pick the +10 game which will be hard, or go for the +6 game that is medium, or just take the easy +2. This wasn't some malicious money grab, we honestly don't make the most from Hot Streaks anyway. It was a pure gameplay decision.

With that said, I understand why some people are upset since we didn't always have it that way. Let me explain a bit more of the easy, medium, hard matches to help you make your decisions on how to play Hot Streaks.

An easy (+1) match up will be against a deck that is always rated lower than yours. You are very likely to win this game unless the wrong events come up vs. your weak stats on your cards.

A medium (+3) match up is against an even rated deck with +/- 10%. So you could get slightly harder or slightly easier. You can probably win this game, but if you play the wrong cards or get tough events then you could lose.

A hard game (+5) matches you with someone that is 90-150% of your rating. You could get someone beatable, but you are likely to encounter some very tough competition. It works out where 50% of the time you'll get someone you can beat on average. It's a risk but the reward is obviously very good since you can score high points here.

Finally, I will say this update was more focused on the MyGame side and integrating it better into MyTeamMobile. You can now get VC by playing Quick Games which is huge if you're playing the console game. You also get Credits for free and we threw in the Rookie cards as something fun. As I have stated before, the next update will focus on MyTeamMobile with some hefty changes to Season including reward changes and several things that people have suggested here. Obviously, I am biased but I think this update provided quite a bit of new features that many players will/are enjoying.

As always, I hope you enjoy the game.
Wait so what are you saying? You removed the back button because the crashing during game has miraculously been resolved all of a sudden or too many people were backing out to dodge losses and HS wastes?
Either way seems like you took it out at a super convenient time financially for the company, bugs be damned. I never saw a single post in the bug thread referring to needing the back button to escape from crashed games. Sounds like a load of malarky to me broseph. But do your thing, line those pockets with our tears.

I sincerely hope quick games start crashing now on me so i can cry for the back button again, since thats what it was for and all.

I don't see how this was a financial move by CD. On the contrary, it discourages people from buying hot streaks and LOSES them money. It's meant to correct the gameplay to how the developers intended. I'm annoyed about it too, it wastes a lot of time (if I had my way, we'd be able to back out of games, but have it count as a loss and use up the hot streak), but don't accuse them of doing it for money when there's no logical backing for that.

What world do you live in?

They saw that there was an exploit that gave Hot Streaks more value than what they charge for them, so they patched it up. It is totally a financial move. It makes it so that a player has to spend more, for the same effect.

You can argue that it was a dumb financial move, sure, but it was a financial move, which any working adult should be able to respect. Again, I think it may be a miscalculation to assume people will spend to make up the difference, rather than just get annoyed stop spending altogether.. but they have the data and I don't.. Plus when you have a maniac willing to Hot Streak every single game, even after they've secured 1st place by thousands of points, it's a sign that the dollars and cents of this game don't always follow any particular logic.

This whole integrity of the game nonsense is the real BS though. If they patched the game, and annoyed their customers, for the sake of their vision for their not-actually-competitive mobile card game, and not for money, then they're REALLY stupid.

Though that's not unprecedented... taking out pick hoarding served no purpose other than annoying people for the sake of their vision...

It seems to me that making customers happy is more important than keeping the game true to intentions, but what do I know. So much of people's favorite parts of games through the years, have been unintended by the developers. If I was a dev, I'd care more about making the best game possible, be it on purpose or by accident. Caring more for my vision and intentions, as opposed to the actual enjoyment of the game seems silly, selfish and arrogant.

But I don't think that's what CD did here. I think they found a leak in their revenue stream, and they patched it. Simple as that.. And even though that makes the game slightly more annoying than it already is, I have zero problem with them protecting their revenue. It's the real world, people.

See I don't think people will buy more. Even hot streakers like Josh were complaining about all the money they spent for nothing. I was considering maybe spending a few dollars on hot streaks, but now it's out of the question. The only financial gain from this would be from fanatics like Twista, and that wouldn't make up for all the less important players like me who might pitch in some money. And, like NWGD said, Hotstreaks are only a slight portion of their profit. I'm going to say the developers did the right thing here for the enjoyment of the game; even though it's annoying, everyone is still on a level playing field. So what if you have to tap the screen three more times if you're losing? It makes it more interesting and fair to non-spenders to have the possibility of losing the hot streak.

I know you have to listen to a lot of "wahhhh, give us back the old way of doing things" anytime you release an update/patch. They're just the loudest though, a lot of us appreciate the fixes (yes, fixes. removing the back button was a fix people. Get over it.) and the increased challenge that has come from it. Oh and I was actually falling out of the game, but with this update allowing myteam/mobile to complement each other with vc and the chance for a special card, I am rebooked. That and I love how now each of my hot streaks matter, and like you said they're not just a +5points card.

These naysayers are just upset they gotta use their noggin just a little bit more. Keep up the good work.

The only thing i "use my noggin a little bit more" for is wondering why the hell removing a button that has been there since implementation suddenly needed to be removed in the middle of a rivals event. And by the lack of response to my post questioning this i can only assume that it was yet again just another hotfix to slap most of us in the face behind the guise of a helpful patch. Notice how they slipped it in with the VC patch and keep falling back on that to keep people away from talking about the back button.

It was a shady move supported by mystery ideals. In my 6 months of playing i have never experienced a "crash state" where the back button was a solution and neither has anybody else for as long as ive known. Apparently hoarding picks and saving hot streaks are dealbreakers as i wallow in yet another season i have no chance of winning. Priorities.

                        Re: Patch Notes

                        Use their noggin? For what?

I swear, people that think this is some thinking man's, competitive game confuse the hell out of me. This is a grind it out, screen tapping chore of a game, that somehow found the right formula to get people hooked. That's it.

This idea that I'm gonna think now before using a Hot Streak is just silly. Nobody is gonna think now. They're still gonna run 10 point games, because it makes zero sense to do anything else. Blowing a Streak on a 3pt game, just to get one point more than what I got the game before? Stupid. Using it on a 1 pt game, to get less than what I would get from a normal 3 pt game that I couldn't lose if I tried? Again.. stupid.

There's no thinking while actually playing the games..

I wish CD would maybe actually come up with a mode that required thought, instead of these silly statements about what they KNOW isn't a thinking game in any way.

And I'm sorry, this isn't about a vocal minority not liking the change. I hardly care about the change. I can't stand the reasoning given. Sorry.. I'm just not a fan of being fed BS.

And how is it even possible to be actually *happy* about this change?

Yes!!!! They finally took away my ability to back out of games! This was bothering me so much!!

I don't see how that could have possibly been anyone's reaction.

Unless you actually care about people's records in this game (you're insane if you do... this game isn't actually competitive.. and the fidelity of people's records is way too far gone to save it now), other people using the back button doesn't really affect your game at all.

Haha there is no thinking, most have muscle memory and mindlessly tap away while doing other things. How else could they bang out 10s of thousands points in a 6 day span.

I know I've fallen asleep playing and wake up tapping the screen and still pulled out the w and I've never placed higher than 200s, haha thinking...
