If you have a long counter reset, will you get a pretty quick one next time or is it random? I just got a leg++ reset after 209 boards, does that men ill get a reset pretty soon?

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
The reset is completely random and not at all related to prior or later resets. The data in this thread suggests that CD programmed in a failsafe so that once you clear enough boards, you'll just get your tier reset card. They didn't necessarily have to do that, although if they hadn't, I suspect very few people would have had the willpower to power through 100k QGs for all the GOAT cards.QG Tier: Legendary++

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
With all the trashing of CD, we should point out some of the good stuff. Adding in tiers and giving us a guaranteed reset was a really good idea. I remember last year's game, where I never landed a single legendary card from the board. Resets make grinding so much more bearable.Comment

Conclusions: This is a fairly substantial set of data and it comes very close to initial assumptions. With 25 cards on the board and actual random placement of the board reset card (Rare+), the expectation would be a clear every 12.5 cards. The result is within one standard deviation and so I expect further data to continue to produce results that are close to 12.5 cards per clear, as per the law of large numbers.
I include all of the data in the code blocks for anyone who wants to run a deeper analysis, including perhaps the weighting of certain cards within tiers and also some insight into the placement of the "reset" card.
I clear the board in the following pattern every single clear:
Code:06 22 02 23 07 20 14 10 15 18 04 12 01 13 05 21 16 11 17 19 08 24 03 25 09
Hopefully someone finds the data useful.QG Tier: Legendary++

Hopefully someone finds the data useful.
As far as random number generators go, they are usually seeded by time (whatever millisecond is now, for example). With a full understand of the code and very precise technology, you can probably find a way to "predict" results, but to a human clicking on a screen, it's as good as actual randomness.Comment

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
It would be considerably more difficult to write a proper function where the cards aren't all pre-determined server side when it generates your board. Much easier to store the board card ID numbers and only send the information to the client when a draft pick is expended on the board.
That would be much less server load intensive, secure (since it doesn't send the actual card IDs until you have made the pick) and would result in very easily adjustable and reliable reward for time outputs.
The data we see in this thread along with just realizing how much more server load it would take to make a call every time someone taps a draft pick instead of just calling an already pre-determined card for the slot ... it points to each board being seeded when it is first generated.
When working with apps, you want to be able to adjust the levers easily, and the sort of function you are positing would be difficult to adjust without risking unintentional consequences ... and it would be less efficient to boot.
All of that said, only the code monkeys working for CD actually know how they handle it.QG Tier: Legendary++

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
question - how does it work if you are jumping around tiers?
ex. Leg ++ in QG then go down to Epic for RTTC? would that mean I have no chance to pull a leg while in the Epic tier? and do the board clears while in Epic count towards my leg++ totals?
I think I remember pulling an Epic card during the last RTTC when I was in the UR tier but in the Epic tier in QG..
many thanks!Comment

I could write a very simple function that gets called every time. Based on certain passed parameters (tier, reset count, energy, number of remaining tiles), I could first determine the type of card (common/uncommon/energy/clear), then either randomly select a card (common/uncommon) or, for a clear, first determine the tier, then the card. This could be extremely efficient function.
As you said, only they know. It's fun to speculate about.Comment

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
What would the chances be that it is more based on an individual board to board coding rather then an extended sequence that we have been studying it to be. The timing of Special resets(UR,epic, leg) is to inconsistent to suggest that It is a one and done deal. Ex. I can pick a star card at 400boards another at 39 boards and a third 323 boards. You could Argue that it is just the law of averages but that requires for two constants(the same player) and(same conditions). This theory could also suggest that there COULD(not always) be multiple cards on a set board that would reset the board entirely. EX.A rare and an Epic on the same board. If this where the case then it could give some light on why there is early and late resets.
While we are speculating why not consider it a possibility that the line is a lot shorter or a lot longer then just a one card reset.
p.s. Sorry if im not clear or offer much supporting evidence. Havnt slept in 22hrs so my mind is all over the place.

We know there are set percentages that are based on tier. For example, in Star, maybe it's 0.5% Star, 1% Leg, 5% Epic, etc. This is what allows for an "early reset". Without resets, we'd be left with just the percentages, meaning you could literally go thousands of boards without landing a card in your tier, kinda like they had last year (although last year the percentages were static instead of being based on an individual's level).
We also know that each tier and sub-tier (+/++) has a certain guaranteed reset. So, if you haven't randomly selected a Star in 260 boards in Star++, they automatically give it to you.
This is what gives you the multi-factored outcome. The logic for this is simple. If I'm at the auto-reset number for my tier, my reset card automatically is that tier. Otherwise, run the odds based on the percentages.
(I'm ignoring the fact that, despite all indications by CD, the reset numbers don't seem to be entirely fixed. Not everyone in Star++ gets their reset at 260. Some get it at 266, some at 268, etc. It seems to happen around a number, but not always exactly at a number.)Comment

Re: Tracking your Counter Resets
There are some inconsistencies in what they say, but if we go by what NWGD has stated, we have the following:

I completely agree but since im curious to see if its even possible for us to solve I gotta throw out some hypotheticals and seeing what you guys think.
1.How much trust can we put into what CD has said. It may just be me and my skeptical personality but we have seen CD exaggerate in terms of what their abilities and modifications have done. The numbers suggest they are telling the truth buttttt what the numbers don't say is
2.The location in which the resets occur. It may be impossible to solve as every single pick would hve to be charted since your first game, but without more detail(location, pick number, time, picks since reset, etc) how accurate can our numbers really be.
The thing about numbers, whether it be on the court or in video game, you cannot argue against them as they hold definite value but pure numbers also don't show the whole pictureComment
