Re: Is this game really that bad????
I don't think that the game is necessarily "bad". To me there are a couple of issues that make it tough for me to qualify as a game I need to buy:
1. I think it's slid back into more of an arcade feel from Live 2005. While that isn't a sin, my preferences lie more on the sim side
2. While there are some areas that have been improved, the difference between this game and Live 2005 isn't overly vast from my vantage point , so if I want an "arcade-sim", I already own 2005, why shell out another $70 CDN for a game that is, ostensibly, already in my collection
If you are a die-hard Live fan, or don't have Live 2005, I think there is enough here to warrant the buy. If you aren't a die hard or have the 2005 game then you may have the latitude to say "what do I really want/need in my collection?". For me the answer skews more towards not buying, but that's my preference. If you are desperate for a 2006 NBA title, then this is likely your choice if you want something a little more accessible and less technically challenging as a hoops sim. There are still a lot of good things going on here for people interested in the Live-style of play
Have fun.............Basketball made me the man I am today; Arthritic and Bitter...
What I think I think:
• Y'know, I've never played less NBA 2K than I did with NBA 2K12
• Sports VG titles were REALLY disappointing in 2011-12
• Thank Heaven for ME3 and Arkham City -- saved my winterComment

As for the AI, it is not tremendously advanced and you can still shut down the CPU with the same relative ease as with Live 2005. I hate to tell you, but Live isn't a technically brilliant representation of basketball and is purpose built as such by EA, whose stated focus is to deliver an accessible and entertaining game
PS: BTW, don't worry, with all the in-store "plants" and their organized push to have Live and 2k6 merchandised differently at the retail level, I don't think EA will be in line at the local soup kitchen any time soon

I'll stand by my comment that it isn't tremendously challenging to overwhelm the CPU AI in this title. Like I said, it's a fun game, but not a true sim, although I appreciate that they tried something old in the vein of something new which is to be commended. That effort, in the form of the Superstar feature is what has upset the balance of the game from progressing into a sim to a return to its arcadey roots
I'm going to keep trying it the next couple of nights until Blockbuster calls, by those are my early impressions

Re: Is this game really that bad????
I am really enjoying live more, this year than any in recent memory... I am not really all that impressed with NBA 2k6, mainly because of the Isomotion 3 system...
But I like both games... I cant wait to but the Xbox 360 versions...PSN: duFFleBaG_rAn_

Originally posted by KBomberI played Washington and New Jersey on Superstar with the Raptors and won by 20 and 40 plus margins in 8 minute quarters with the default settings. I was able to get shots from all parts of the floor and racked up stats that I would characterize as being fantastic using player performances that boggled reality given that the guys leading the charge were players like Joey Graham, Rafer Alston and Raphael Araujo

i challenge the validity of your claims. i could just as easily go onto the 2k board and claim the game sucks because i school the cpu by 50 on the highest level with the worst team...
grow up dude and just go play the game you like.Comment

What I have said is that when I played the game, those were the results.
What I have said is that the gameplay skews a little too much on the arcade side of things when compared to Live 2005, which I both like and own
What I have said is that the game is a fun one -- similar to Live 2005
What I have said is that, per EA, Live is purpose built as a game intended to be accessible and entertaining with a secondary objective of meeting simulative requirements
What I have said is that when looking at Live 2005, for me, I don't see Live 2006 as a purchase opportunity, for me, because much of the gameplay is not that different from 2005, for me
What I have said is that there are definitely improvements in the area of graphics (marginally) and there are enhancements in animations
What I have said is that from an AI stand point, Live has never been a technically focussed game of basketball -- again, purposely, by plan of EA. When I play Live, it's a much more casual experience for me when compared to other sims like C-Hoops 2k5 or ID 2004
What I've said is that as a result of how Live is purpose built, for me, it is not difficult to attack the CPU and glean decent results without massive effort -- the game is made for neophytes technically. I've got almost 30 years of experience in the game of basketball, so that isn't surprising
I haven't at any juncture made a claim that Live sucks.
What I've said is that as a purchase, it may not make sense for me this year
I hope that clears it up for you

Re: Is this game really that bad????
Hey there K
I have to say...IMO...it's infinitely better than LIVE05.
Personally, I can't see how anyone rates LIVE05 higher...that game had no fast breaks and no play sets + no team differences. I'd be hard pressed to rate LIVE 05 any higher than about 4/10.
LIVE06 has all of those things addressed...which makes it infinitely more of a 'SIM' IMO. Play sets being the key...
The more I play it though, I do agree that the superstar options are 'overdone'.
My personal playing style is that I don't use those much though and I'm playing with the Wolves who, KG aside, don't have anyone with those abilities. Maybe I notice it less for this reason.
The game is a long way short of perfect and it's still "LIVE Basketball" in many, many ways.
Much better than LIVE 05 though IMO...
Still not 'hard core' SIM...but the only LIVE i've been able to play for a few days without throwing in the direction of the bin...
Hope your well
