It locks you on one player.

I love because you have to play as one guy all game and it makes team play more important. Offensively you have to know where you need to go during the playsets and defensively you are held accountable for your mistakes.

If you get the hang of Player Lock it is an oustanding way to play the game. Your AI teammates will play within the offense and make outstanding passes if the play was designed for you. I switch back and forth between this style and regular play from game to game.

There isn't any benefits to it. I like to create myself in the game and only control me. The problem is, every year the AI has bugs in it or it just sucks so the gameplay is actually hindered if you play Player-Lock.

What bugs are you talking about? I've seen one instance where I had to make the computer shoot, but 99% of the time they execute the plays, and runs fast breaks without me controlling them. Also, the benefit of using player lock is the emphasis on team-play. Last year's Player lock had issues, but it seems they have been fixed in 06.

I agree I don't what he's speaking of because I've tested many games now and haven't seen any control problems. Your AI teammates play pretty good and respond pretty good.

Sometimes...not as bad as previous versions but sometimes the CPU will make absolutely terrible cross court passes but other than that I like the player lock CPU AI.

I'm talking about them running out of bounds sometimes on a fastbreak instead of making a layup, or when the clock is ticking down they won't shoot on their own. In a tight situation, they don't give the ball to the hot player. Instead of passing out for the open jump shot, they do a layup with 3 people guarding them. These are the guards also, not even inside scorers.

In NBA 2K5 and 2K6, the player won't inbound the ball unless you force them to pass to you. In NBA Live 2004 I think, if you weren't locked as one of the guards, they would just pass it back and forth until the shot clock ran out.

I think that glitch is gone this year, I remember that from last year though, you had to press layup for them.
