Re: I'm through with this game....

to u guys that are having a good time playing live 0n the 360.
has there been any time when the cpu utilizes its go to big guys. ie. bosh, dirk, kg, duncan etc...for the entire game on offense or when they take 15+shots in a game. and i am not talking about put backs. i mean actuall shots.
believe me when i say i tried my best to like this game. i bought a 360 for it for gods sake. i edited every friggen player as well as implement playmakers playbooks and sliders. and i have bought and sold it twice as i live on nba video games and 2k6 keeps getting delayed here [australia]. but nothing i could do would get the cpu to play a proper game of ball in the half court.
every team played the same. its infuriating. esspecially when i loved live 06 on the xbox. that was a good game. the cpu utilized the stars and many teams and players played like they should.
doesnt it drive u mad when u see bigs play the same way [back to basket treestumps] regardless of attributes. when u see the hassells and bowens and stevensons of the league take shot after shot when their superstar F/C team mates are free and asking for the ball. i couldnt stand it. reminded me of the lives of old.
after hours and hours of edits and tinkering. i could not fix this broken game.
how do u guys stand it?
question,.... I value your opinions. i can see that most u guys contributing to this thread know your nba and are as passionate as myself about nba games. so.......
can u tell me how 2k6 plays compared to live. is it superior in the AI department?. ie.. do the bigs get utilized. does the cpu play the way they should with each respective team?... i have heard differing views on this but u guys seem well educated in this regard..

there are issues that i have with 2k6. [ u cant adjust other teams strategies, line ups etc.. and u cant edit possies....]but this year it may have to do as my nba game of choice considering how far off the mark live 06[360] was to me...

nogster, not trying to start a debate here in the Live forum, but when my version of 2K comes in this week, I'll try and let you know. I can't remember how it plays to be honest.

Also, something I found in the past week, before my game getting broke, was that if you use PM's sliders, and change the difficulty to superstar, the big's were more involved. I played against the Pacers, and they kept playing two man ball with Stojakovic and JO. It was beautiful. Played the heat, and the first 4 possessions of the game, they went down to Oneal.

I'd try that and see if that works.

I dont have much to say except that this game is great to me. My created player dunked on Scot Pollard and the collision was so real. Yeah, anyone who plays this game knows it has been rushed/unfinished/whatever, who cares. Playmakers sliders and team edits (along w/personal tweaks) blows 2k6 out the water. Ok, the lack of emotion is evident, but the graphics are outstanding except the for the braid hairstyles.

If this is what Live 07 has to offer with tweaks we may witness the best game from EA ever.

Be stuff like this that makes me want to put down my 2K6 and make the purchase. I can admit that 2K6 does a lot of slacking cause of the scripted running of the plays. If 2K6 at least had the freestyle of the offense like we desire, then the game would be wonderful. Sometimes, the computer does go off in another tangent, but that's rare. I will say that their double team is quite amazing. I played with the Heat a few times and dominated with Shaq. They started collapsing on me so I tried resorting on the tre. Then fed it back into Shaq. You could FEEL his power on here. Now, how that works with other players is what needs to be tweaked. I've played Live a brief moment or two since it's been out. Could definitely use some enhancements. Both games can. Get both and just have your field day is what I say. Heck, I'm trying to wait until I find this game dirt cheap to give it a buy. Looks like it'll be soon too.

IMO all these games after a certain amount of time with them need to be further tweaked and edited in order for the game to play the way most of us feel a football, basketball or baseball game should play on the field or courts.

I have always stated that EA really rushed this game out the door and right out the box I would give it a low score aswell. I'm a basketball junkie so that's why I put in more time tweaking NBA Live than any other sports game. I've found a comfort level with the game after many hours of re-rating players. It's still not perfect but IMO it's better than the product EA shipped to us out the box.

The ratings are basically what makes the players do things that they shouldn't on the court. The game needs sliders and playbooks aswell but the ratings are the biggest problem with overall gameplay. I plan on doing even further adjustments to the player ratings because I believe that is the key to getting the game to respond to what many of us look for in a video basketball game. We shouldn't have to go through these troubles but hey I'm usually not the type of guy that sits around and pounts about something a developer screwed up on because that doesn't solve the problem anyway. So, I just look for alternate solutions on my own to improve the game based on what I like to see happening.
I liked what you did with LIVE06 on the XBOX with the sliders/playbooks. If I rent this game, I'll check out what you have done here.

I still can't believe you bought 2K again!

Your messages to me and a few others pointed out all it's flaws better than anyone bro. The scripted games + miracle AI shots going in despite 3 defenders in it's face is still there bro...as well as everything else you disliked.

Really surprised you re bought it as you seemed to really dislike it...!

:y4: Yeah, I know... that was just to get in a little bit of variety. You know. To throw in for a game or two, while I still played Live for the majority of my gaming time. However, with the recent breaking of my disc, that all went to nothing.

I am about 99.9% sure that I will be getting Live again sometime in the near future. My nephew sold his copy for $33, but told me he'd give it to me for $30 if I wanted it. I'll probably end up taking it.

Trust me, I didn't purchase it to be my sole NBA game for the rest of the year, I bought it to play second fiddle so to speak. I went back and read through my dislikes of the game, and there were quite a few very critical bugs (in my eyes), so I'm not sure how much of it I can overlook.

Don't worry though, I'll most likely end up giving him $30 for Live, and just going back with my original plan.

                      NBA Playoffs Simulation

Will San Antonio repeat? NBA Live 06 gives us the answer.
                      by Jon Robinson
April 21, 2006 - If there's one lower seed that I wouldn't want to play this postseason, it's the Los Angeles Lakers. Seriously, with Kobe Bryant, arguably the best player in the NBA, and the playoff-wise Phil Jackson on the bench, would anyone be too surprised if they pulled off an upset in the first round? With the game on the line, no one can guard Kobe, especially if the refs continue to call the "no hand check" game they did in the regular season.

Whether or not the Lakers advance, though, doesn't seem to matter as the Spurs and Pistons seemed destined for a rematch.

If I had to make a call right now, I'm saying Pistons win it all in seven over the Spurs, but hey, I've been known to be wrong. That's why I entrusted the help of the Xbox version of NBA Live 06 (I don't trust the 360) in order to simulate my way through the playoffs and see who they predicted would win it all (NBA 2K6 does not feature a Playoff mode, in case you were wondering why they got no respect).

Could Kobe pull the upset? Will Melo continue to knock down game-winners in the postseason? And what about King James? Is this just another step toward greatness, or will he get bounced by the former Warriors?

Here is what happened in our simulation:

                      NBA Live 06

There were two first round upsets in the West as Memphis beat Dallas four games to three and the Clippers took out the Nuggets in six (although I guess you can't call this an upset when L.A. has more wins). Out East, no upsets as the Pistons swept the Bucks, Cleveland beat Washington, New Jersey defeated Indiana, and Miami narrowly escaped the Bulls in seven games.

As the playoffs progressed, San Antonio defeated Memphis and Phoenix beat the Clips. This set up an amazing seven-game series between the Spurs and Suns, with Tony Parker and crew beating Nash and Phoenix in seven.

In the East, LeBron showed up big against the Pistons, but Chauncey showed who was indeed Mr. Big Shot, leading the Pistons past the Cavs in seven. Meanwhile, Miami collected themselves after a near upset against the Bulls to sweep the Nets. Shaq and Wade are no match for the Pistons, however, getting blown out and knocked out in five.

                      The Finals

San Antonio is on a mission for two straight, and ran through the Pistons in only five games to capture the title. Tim Duncan averaged 16.5 points and 10 rebounds throughout the playoffs, while Ginobli and Parker both shot lights out for 21.1 and 21.6 ppg respectively, with Parker named MVP. And just think, all of these guys are signed for years to come. Can you say San Antonio Dynasty…
