i don't know how everyone is coming up with the "2k7 plays better" stuff. if i miss another point blank layup in 2k7 i'll kill someone. it's pretty much the exact same game i played TWO YEARS ago (2k5). the graphics are horrible, the situational AI is suspect to say the least and as usual visual concepts has sprinkled their game with a generous helping of good old fashioned bugs (weird graphical glitches abound, and scrambling on the ground for a loose ball is a hoot).

after playing live 07, i didn't think a fantasy draft could be designed and implemented any worse. that is, until i played 2k7. utterly horrible. as far as i can tell, there's not even any way to change the draft order...

those reviewers don't know what the hell they're talking about either. the 1 up review is just wrong from the getgo. the physics are actually the best i've seen from a sports game ever and REALLY take some getting used to when starting out. players actually feel like they have weight to then, so they can't stop on a dime. maybe the reviewer is just used to the ice skating everyone's been complaining about for years.

as for the gamespot review, it's better, but there are still some suspect comments. live has separated the dunk/layup buttons for years. it's not a new feature. his complaints regarding them are stupid. if you're trying to dunk when you have no business doing so then there needs to be a risk/reward factor to deal with. as for figuring out where you're able to dunk from, i'm sorry, i guess the developers expect you to know a thing or two about basketball. jeez...

the hop step works flawlessly and takes momentum into account. i don't know what the hell he was complaining about there, and performing a layup on the same button has not once in about 15 games caused me to do a hop step instead. hop step is a quick tap, layup is a hold, and it's no more difficult than that...
I just knew that you were going to have this reaction to the reviews if they didn't go your way.You have been saying that live is going to be better than 2k7 for the last 2 months on the avs forums. Now I come here to read your crying comments about how bad 2k7 is.Please stop being a ***** and enjoy the game that you like.I don't like live but you don't see me bashing live.

I think they judged a book by its cover. I wouldnt have kept the game without slider adjustments, I've put in 20 hours into live and about ten on ther other title, and I enjoy Live better. animations flow with the game if you have a good speed setting. Yeah the game could have been better out of the box, but nowadays the only review I trust is my own. those publishing them on gaming sites shouldnt be so biased.

The gameplay should be good out the box...You shouldn't have to adjust anything to make it better.

The "INCREASE PLAYER ANIMATIONS" is not a slider option brotha.

You guys also gotta remember that a different person reviews these games every year. If there was a site where the same person always reviewed the game, then I would respect the scores more on gaming sites. I'm not going to give my opinion on the Live vs. 2k matter because I don't want to start any "flame wars", but I will say that I'm glad 2K still has some real estate in the sports gaming industry.

Gotta agree on that, the actual game movement is horrible...it hurts my eyes, why should you have to spend hours adjusting a brand new game just to make it fun???? I played it with the new sliders and aside from being completely unable to make a free throw and shooting 30% from the field its a decent b-ball game...if it didnt hurt my head to play it...bouncy camera has killed it for me.

              1. You can't be serious. Live does some things well but in NO way are the physics good, let alone the best ever.

              2. Live has always had seperate dunk/shoot buttons. now they have seperate dunk/layup/ shoot buttons which they added this year.

              3. If the hop step and layup button are one in the same, if i was going up for a layup and tapped the button by mistake then I wont be performing a layup now would I??

after spending a couple days with live, and 2k7
i gotta say 2K7 is the better game, and this is coming
from a live fanboy. 2K isnt perfect, but its imperfections
are easier to deal with than lives.

the high shots, the robtic dribbling (honestly who dribbles like that).
I fell i shouldnt have to adujust all the sliders to make the game playable.
The graphics are great, player models are awsome, but animaton is horrible
                its not smooth at all.

I do like the footplanting, they got something going in the right direction with that. I hope EA continues to improve it, cause even though i think 2K7 is the best bball game ever, my heart still calls out to live 07 and i "try" like
it, but i gotta be honest with myself an admit that VC while not as pretty as live, capture the NBA better with there gameplay. Signature style IMO is better than FSS cause even though you can switch between types FSS still limits you to one at a times. As with Sig Style Lebron and Co. are all these things at 1 time. No need to cycle thru styles.

Re: About the 1up and Gamespot Reviews...

Ive been trying to get into 2k7 and I just cant play that game as long as I can play Live..Im tired of looking at those polished current gen player models. After a while the great animations stop holding my attention...then I start to notice the wrongs of the game. Missing all these point blank lay ups and shots is starting to get on my nerves. Some of you got a problem with sliders? why? if it makes he game better to play whats the problem? Its in the game so you have control over that..2k7 needs some slider work too. The isomotion is a mess...as its always been IMO. I dont know if the 2k7 backers are just not talkin about or not but..I can dunk my *** off in 2k7. Both games have the problem with the dunking as well as players stepping out of bounce on accident..ive seen this in 2k7 as well. Those reviews on those sites are useless to me..2k7 is better than 2k6 but it got a lower rating on gamespot. Live 07 is way way better than Live 06 but it got a .1 better? I dont care about the diffrent people rating the games..Gamespot is a website and a bussines they have a duty to the gamers out there to report on these games the right way. Example: some mother of 2 goes on the site..let say she didnt know **** about games and she went to gamespot and she saw that live 06 is a 6.4 and live o7 is a 6.5 and she wants to spend less money on a video game..shes gonna buy crapfest 06 also known as live 06. I know people like this..they just buy anything for their kids. The bottom line for me is..I thought NBA 2k7 would completly blow Live 07 out the water this year the way those same sites made live out to be(before release) after coming here ive found that it is a good game. The camera following the ball is something that will bother you if you want it to. the only time I remember its happening is when people are talking about it in here. Im going to put something out there cause this is what i believe. the reason Visual Concepts hasnt changed the engine is beacuse they are probably scared to do so. How many of you actually thought(DONT TELL FIBS) that this years game would have the same player models? Live is choppy right now because of the new technology they are bringing to gaming but next year...its gonna be a whole new standard for basketball games...

The ultimae fantasy for me would be that another company would come along and take the Live 07 graphic engine and AI and drop the NBA 2k7 animation and presentation onto it. If the gamers out there could get that then we can forget about EA and VC.
maaaaannnnn....what the hell did you say??

i can feel for ya nba 2klive. For me, i couldn't even play 5 minutes of live after playing 2k7. It was that bad of a game to me, but i know trhere are people who like live, so i can't knock them for it.

But i gotta disagree with you with isomotion. How is it a mess? its way more intuitive then pressing the right analog with live, sometimes i don't even want to do the juke moves in live because the animations are so bad.

I know it sounds harsh when i say that playign live for 5 minutes ( 1 quarter ) made me get sick of it, but it is the truth, and i know some of you guys may feel i didn't give it enough of a chance... but first impressions are everything.

nothing but respect for your opinion...somebodys problem is alwayssss somebodys love.lol. Prime example...if you watch a real game Nba players jersey movements do not look like silk on the court but people swear to it that 2k7 has better cloth technology..what they fail to realize is this...yeah its some sexy looking cloth but not on the body of a baksetball player..you know what im sayin? do you still have live? if you do you need to try playmakers sliders...it made the game an 8 outta 10 for me. Before the sliders I would give it a 7.2 or something like that. as im sure sliders can make NBA 2k7 go from 8.2 to 9.

The key word was playmakers the guy just figures **** out when it comes to Live. I just sit and back waite until he's done with his work because I witnessed it in Live 06 and that game was terrible out of the box. The game plays better for me with just his early sliders already. To each of his own though because I'm digging the game.

In that case they should of delayed it a year, or reduced the price.
I love nba live, but this one is BARELY playable IMO, no 2k isnt perfect
and if you are like me and this is your first time with 2K, then yeah ISO
motion is tricky, but its deep. I personally hate 2K7 graphics, always have
hated 2K graphics, but the gameplay is so authinic, it has made me realise
how important graphics is. I rather have those polished current gen graphics with great animations and emotions.

Yeah sliders are in 2K, but the only sliders i have adjusted is the shooting ones (close/mid/3pt, lowerd them) and now in my assoction with those lowered im getting realistic stats on 12min quaters. With live i feel i have to adjust every single one.
