For those who like Live 08 better than 2k8 please tell me why.

I've gone back and forth with these games (PS3 version). I initially purchased 2K8, returned it for Live and then went back to 2K8 only to trade it in for Live. I am enjoying Live (w/tweaked sliders and rosters) for the most part but some of the physics (unrealistic dunks) are frustrating at times. Overall though, I just enjoy the atmosphere that Live presents (better graphics, commentary, etc...)

I haven't played Live in a few weeks, but for me, I find Live to be more fun and the graphics are just better overall. If they get animations like 2K, then this game will finally start getting ahead of the competition. I think that next year, that Live will be close to being on top if 2K doesn't change a few things in their game. I like the player models in Live better than the blocky players from 2K + the menus and much sharper with EA's games.

To me I need a change of pace, I went back to 2K8 tonight and the last few days. It's a back and forth of playing both games.

IMO its simple for me. Live is a fun game (slider adjustments almost sim like) with great graphics. Its more entertaining to me. NBA2k is a great sim. But, its almost to sim as its gets boring. Horrible graphics. The only thing that is good as far as the graphics are concerd is the player heads. Other than that they are as good as PS2s. Just not next gen. When I think of Next gen graphics I think of COD4. 2K is not even close.

The 2K engine is the same one from the XBOX if I can recall, all they have been doing is building upon it each year............unless I'm wrong and it was a brand new engine from the ground up.

wow....way off base with the graphics being called ps2. come on man pop in the ps2 version. don't mislead someone who may really need an opinion...

Ok I take it back but they are NO WHERE NEAR what I would think a next gen game that cost $60 to look like. They are worrying about animations, guys high fiving each other, guys running into camera men, the crowd, cheerleaders, vendors walking around, and towel boys. This is supposed to be 5 on 5 bball. they need to worry about the players looking good. Im sorry but there players look awful. They are the same player models that were in NBA 2k for the DC. Sorry 8 years later and there still using the same engine. Thats bad IMO.

As far as I can see it looks like the same engine. 2k for the DC = 2k8 for the 360. Sorry its been 8 years. They need to step it up.

If Live had 2K's gameplay physics and off-court animations I would be extremely happy (that's really the only gripes I have with Live). I am enjoying Live though (more so than I did 2K). Still tweaking the latest PS3 rosters w/Players attribute recommendations. Will post later today under Rosters. Thanks.

Hands down COSIGN. If Live had all the other little touches 2K put into there game it would have been awsome.

I have both games and i play them both. For the people that are talking trash about 2k please give it up , is nothing like the dreamcast game play or graphics. It all depends on what you want a slower sim game?? 2k or a combination of both sim and arcade ?? live . This year i've played live a lot its a lot better than the ones from the past it still has glitches but so does 2k. I wont call the graphics on 2k horrible because some players look amazing and other dont just like live , in live some players look amazing others dont. I think you should rent both games and decide yourself dont let us tell you what you should like or play . oh one more thing i like them both for 360 ive gotten used to the 360 controller so i bought them for 360 both, i tried the ones for the ps3 but the controllers feels too small for sports games IMO .

I've been playing Live quite a bit on the weekends when I'm home, mainly because, well, the way it flows. The spacing lends itself to my way of playing. I love the drive and dish, and if you play with a little realism, the game is definitely not a bad game at all.

I couldn't agree more. Although it has some VERY quirky animations... Live is FAR from a bad game after you play it for a while. It's actually pretty fun. Which is what videogames are about.

I can't dominate NEARLY as much w/ LBJ in Live as I could in 2k, it's hard to top a 40 pt game w/ good sliders. That's what I'm liking the most. That, and the fact that I'm not averaging a triple double.

2k is an AWESOME experience... but I split my time between Live and 2k to keep things fresh, and because both are "different" games.
