Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
I would even be really happy with weekly updates. For example, all ratings increases/decreases, roster moves, starting line ups, injuries get updated every monday. That would be really sweet for people that play online.
And this would effect "how we play games from now on" because the rosters of all the teams will always be changing. You couldnt just pick the lakers and abuse the same tactics from october to june. The roster would always be changing.Last edited by Mintsa; 07-11-2008, 09:52 AM.Comment

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
I would really love that. Basically the game would have living breathing rosters that are updated daily. So if a player has a good week his ratings go up. If a player is struggling through a bad shooting slump, it will decrease his ratings. And then you have injuires and all that good stuff relected daily instead of every 3 months......

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
NICE......................
Looks like kotaku.com just spilled the beans !!!!
That's why they have this "special" announcement & online play details delayed until e3 because they go together.
If true................
Online sports gaming has been changed forever and every sports game from here on out will need this feature. (Im talking to both EA & 2K).Comment

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
Exactly......
People wont be able to abuse players like Gerald Green online anymore becasue they were rated higher from the year before. He would drop to a scrub rating or even put on waivers before anyone got a chance to abuse online with him.Comment

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
This is an interesting development, but I'm not sure how well it ties into dynasty. Virtual players in my dynasty are somewhat different than the real life versions. You could use this feature to get up to date ratings to start the season, but after that, I'd want the ratings to depend on the virtual stats, not the real NBA statistics.
I can see that for online use it's really great. That's because it's really like you're using avatars of the real life players - with their ratings at the time of your online game. In a dynasty mode game, let's say a player is shooting the lights out for a few games, but his real life version can't hit anything and he gets benched. The virtual players ratings suffer even though he's playing well - the ratings changes should be based on the virtual performance during dynasty, not the real one.
I want my dynasty to try to emulate a real season, not be the actual season per se, IMO."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
I hope this isn't just for online play I would love to have this feature being used when I play offline exhibiton games too.
Wow after thinking about it this could be a nice little feature if implemented correctly. The one thing I think it will do for all basketball games is show how consistent and inconsistent players in the NBA can be.
So you have stars like Kobe or Lebron who pretty much put up the same numbers each night so using them won't be much of a problem. While you may have a rookie like Kevin Durant who sometimes had a hard time consistently putting up the same numbers every night, so his ratings will fluctuate and can make using him more of a problem because you won't always be sure how he's going to perform from game to game just like in the real NBA.
So this won't just effect players but teams also and I think it will help differentiate your good teams like the Celtics who consistently play the same way from your weaker teams like the Grizzles who may not play the same way from game to game.
So this thing has a lot of potential to be something great but only if its implemented correctly that is.Last edited by Jano; 07-12-2008, 12:40 AM.Comment

Re: The new innovation for Live will probably be...
It'd hardly be groundbreaking.. Players go through slumps in the game whether their ratings are high or not. In both 2k8 and Live. I had a guy in a league game on 2k8 go 1/17 against me with Carmelo Anthony, and almost all of them were good looks. Slumps happen with constant ratings, runs happen with constant ratings. I don't think dynamic ratings would be all that significantComment

I've got my money on Photo Gameface. Sure, not groundbreaking to an EA Sports game, but to a basketball game... think about it.Comment
