Also, there should be a kind of rating interaction between big men and perimeter players that goes like so:
For big men, an Intimidation rating. Players like Dwight Howard force even the best slashers to change their gameplans when playing Orlando. When they're driving, they don't just go headstrong into Dwight as they might do to other big men-- they try to shoot floaters or even pull up for jumpers outside of the paint to avoid his shot-blocking. This would also help as far as players stopping and popping for jumpers on drives, as the CPU might drive, realize that Shaq/Dwight/whoever is under the basket and decide that discretion is the better part of valor and opt for the jumper rather than testing the big man one-on-one.
It would be cool to see, for example, if I'm using the Magic and the AI is hesitant to drive with Dwight in the game, and then Gortat comes in for him and the AI drives with no hesitation.
For perimeter players, a Fearlessness rating. Players like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade might try to go right at players like Dwight Howard. Players like those three would be more willing to drive despite a great shot-blocker being down low, as opposed to someone like Nash or Dirk who would likely settle for the jumper.
-One more thing, block animations need a SERIOUS overhaul. The block animations in 09 are horrible, and that's being polite about it. They're seriously god awful. I don't see any Birdman "ball in the fourth row of courtside" blocks nor do I see Josh Smith/LeBron James "throw the ball off the backboard from behind" blocks. I see the same weaksauce block every time that looks like the defender didn't get all of it and the ball doesn't go anywhere. Oh God, it makes me cringe just to think about it.
-We also need non-steal turnovers. Bad passes that go out of bounds, players stepping on the out of bounds line, players losing the handle on the ball and the ball going out of bounds, etc.
-I told you I had a lot. One more thing I want is a "Hack A Shaq" as a defensive play. Not in the same vein as an intentional foul button, but an actual play that you run on defense. You select the play, and your team intentionally fouls the other team's worst FT shooter on the floor (shouldn't be hard, just go by rating). The AI should also somewhat be able to react to this by sometimes pulling a Shaq or a Skinner or a Dwight out of the game if you continue to use the strategy, or perhaps leave them in if they're making the free throws.
