Probably don't need another thread addressing this, but stephensonmc said that it's meant for people who buy the game used -- you have to pay for a code to get the updates if you buy it used.

Otherwise, a code comes with your copy of Live 09 and will unlock the feature for free.

Just wanted to post what I did in the other thread:

"when you buy the game, you get a card. The card has a code.

If you buy NBA LIVE 09 used, you'll have to pay for the code via XBL or PSN for NBA LIVE 365."

That's good. Because I was not going to pay that. Anyway, Stephenson, WHEN is Player lock coming to Wii?

Wow, thats lame. Its meant to make people buy the game new instead of used to save $20 and thus giving EA an apparent increase in sales that never would have happened. Very low. Sorry not an EA basher, but seriously.

It's not just for used titles, which in essence are only $5 cheaper. People might rent the game, and won't be able to take advantage of a great feature for the people who buy it.. nothing wrong with that.

Yeah it is quite lame. Say you buy the game used for $54.. then have to pay another 19.99 for the feature. Oh well.

Wow, another EA gimick to make more $$$...shame on you EA, shame you!

I normaly buy my games used or new if the price is right. I'm sorry but EA console games are not worth $60 to me IMO. I never buy new console EA games, most of them are not worth it.

The only game I paid full price was for MLB The Show. Excellent game!! worth every penney. With EA games you don't know what you are going to get..mostly junk so far these past few years, see their pro football game..another dissapointment.

Greedy EA! You would think they want to bring in new customers knowing how crappy Live's been. They should be giving the customers a discount that purchased the last two versions of this garbage.

EA, you can stick it where the sun don't shine...no thanks!!.

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN

Question is, why put it up on the Playstation store now? I am sure many people will buy it, because they have no idea it is for the "used" game. This is a very strange move imo. I hope that people who buy this "feature" now will be refunded their money if they buy the game. I seriously thought about buying this game new along with NBA 2K, but not now.

wanna wait a few weeks and get it used for 40 bucks or so? ok, but then you still end up paying 60 bucks for the game no matter what.

This is the reasons why i hate EA as a company. They p ull this kinda bullcrap. This doesnt just go for NBA, it goes for their other games too.

This information and data is very valuable and it wasn't free for us.

T-Mobile is paying for it this year for all users who buy the game new.

This is a very expensive tool to use, and if you don't buy it new, then you'll have to pay for this. It isn't greed at all my man.

Like EA cant afford to give the fans something for free? Come on now, you all sucker people every year on Madden and this game. I think the fans deserve something nice for free just once.

                              Here's is a bright idea:

EA could eat the cost of that in the retail price of the game. I SERIOUSLY doubt that EA is paying 20 bucks per user to access the Synergy database.

This is a way EA can make a little money on used copies.
