I gave this game a shot after the hype too.....besides the look of the game which is ugh IMO...I had some problems w\ the gameplay....

Ive said over and over how I love the rotation....and how you can swing it to the open man for a natural open shot......but thats about my favorite thing about the gameplay.

The thing that killed it for me is that the game really has no identity to me.....I really cant tell the difference between any team im playing w\ or against. I feel like ANY player can hit any shot at any time....too many big man crossovers....the PIP stat may look pretty in the boxscore in this game, but if tyson chandler-esque players are hitting shots all over the place, and doing quickstrikes thats something im willing to sacrifice....just still a bit arcadey to me....I dont feel like every player had thier own.........feel lol.

thats one mans opinion though, glad people are taking interest in both gamed this year

Its not that Live isn't good, its just that 2k is that much better. Its a good era for basketball games now, like with Football 2005.

A cpu player may double the post on me, so ill swing the ball around and they are too late in recovering. In 2k9, they will have these crazy rotations and catchups that defye realism.

In LIVE...the cpu doubles every player in the post or brings help D for every player once they back down.

Even Josh Boone gets automatic doubles...

That's why there's so much space in LIVE.

Is every post player getting doubled realistic? No.

I know for me that is not the case. There have been times when no one came and doubled Maxiel at all. But once he started scoring on them pretty good then I started seeing doubles.

Another thing is the spacing in this game is good because the players are alot smaller. The player to court ratio is very good. If I have deep positon in the post on the strong side. And you take a defender on the perimeter and try to come down and double on me, I can hit my perimeter guy real quick for either a 3 or 2 just inside the 3 point line. If you try to do the same thing in 2k with the defender on the perimeter he will be able to cover both the guy he is checking and the low post guy which is very unrealistic. In 2k, the players are so big that the court is smaller which leads to lots of clutter.

Also if you really look at this game. It does a good job of showcasing help defense and rotation. Just check a couple of the videos that have just been posted (I think one was called "Lakers Teamwork") You'll see that when some guys are driving to the basket, depending on who the help defender is (not everyone is a good help defender which adds even more depth to the game) he'll slide over and try to stop the drive which opens up the mid range game.

Let me be clear on the fact that I havent played Live since 05. Its been all 2k from that point on for me. Now I havent played 2k9 yet just the demo. But this is by far the best and most fun basketball game I ever played. But thats just MO.

They come with the doubles right from the beginning bro...and, when they occasionally don't, they do the moment you score.

I've used the Celtics and had Leon Powe continually doubled...leaving RAY and The Truth UNGUARDED.

I mean, let's be real here. When a CPU doubles Leon Powe and leaves Ray and Pierce open...there's problems.

No one seems to want to mention these though.

I am glad people are enjoying LIVE...I am also.

But there's massive AI flaws in this game...

What Im saying is Im not experiencing what you are. Thats what Im saying. Not saying what your saying isnt true. Sorry things arent panning out for you. Dont get me wrong there are a few issues with the game hopefully it will be cleaned up with a patch. But with that said, Im still enjoying the game a ton. Best representation of organized basketball that Ive ever played.

This is completely untrue for me.. They only begin doubling in the post when my player starts to Kill them.. Even when Lebron starts killing them, the CPU will double him every time he touches the ball...

I love it.. The space is definately not only created by double teams, and the computer does not always double down in the post.. At least for me... Im using Tombas sliders btw..

I agree with the double teams. They come way too often, reminds me of Live 04 where in the beginning of every game I had to turn off double teams for the cpu to play realistically. And actually, I was about to create a thread about this.

However, it seems like different people are having different experiences.

I'll try it out some more using different teams. I did notice though that some teams double way too often, while others not as much.

However, I don't agree that it's the reason for the good spacing. I've had lots of plays by me and the cpu which created open looks that didn't involve post-ups.

Regarding the fastbreaks, initially I was playing the game at a 42-44 speed setting, and if you remember I agreed with you that cpu fastbreaks seemed non-existent. However recently I bumped the speed back to 50 (which feels just right, imo) and I'm seeing more breaks by the cpu. The last two games I played were against the Blazers and the Nets, just played the first quarters of each. Roy, Aldrige, and even Oden had some nice finishes on the break against me. Against the Nets, Carter had two fast break dunks in that quarter.

And they weren't coming off of steals either.

I still get your argument that it seems hard to distinguish fastbreak/uptempo teams vs half-court set type teams, and for the most part I agree with you on that (based on my experience). Hopefully something that can be improved upon by thru DNA updates or for next year.

I see pretty much everything you are seeing, and I'm going to set this game down for awhile and see if the patch addresses any of these issues.

BTW, did this game take a hit graphicly or what? EA really had to dumb down the player appearances, and animations to get Live at 60FPS.

The crowd is running at nowhere near 60fps and the arenas are still too dark in the lighting area. The other game is soo much more superior in visuals this year IMO.

Sorry to hear the difficulties yall are having with the game. Maybe things will be cleared up for you guys with a patch. Beauty of it all is we do have options for the b-ball games this year so 2k9 just might be a better game for yall.
