And one my favorite guys on the show who had a limited role that Martin used to always bump into......'Angry Man'. "Man.... sit your *** down"!

Re: Damn this game is good.
Enough said!
BACK ON TOPIC
Live is a good game, but a few things still plague it from being number 1.
I will add my complaints and worries into the 2010 wishlist to hope they get it right next year. If not I'm done with Basketball video games. Until 2k or EA steps up.Last edited by Behindshadows; 11-03-2008, 04:56 PM.Comment

Re: Damn this game is good.
A 100% rated game.
If that's the cause, you're done with basketball video games.
I think some guys are taking this whole "perfect game" scenario way too seriously.
2k9 and Live offer solid basketball. Perfect? Obviously not.
But if you can't have fun with either, you will never be satisfied with a basketball game IMO.Comment

What is it gonna take?

We are in a time now where games cant just be "games" the closer they mimic real life the more involved the user gets.
Yes we can go play outside, but thats not the point i want to play a simulation of the nba.
I want correct defense to be played, animation, realistic franchise mode, etc etc etc.
Yes nothing is going to be perfect, and even though thats what we are after, we have to be realistic in that will never happen.
That being said theres no reason you cant push the envelope as far as possible with the game ON THE COURT.
One thing i don't like is marketing gets invloved and usually they demand a feature to be made so they can put it on the back of the box, market it and get sales.
This takes vital dev time from key resources. Resources that could possibly be used to improve various other aspects of gameplay.
While these marketing features are usually cool, the fact that they usually steal valuable resources presents people liek us (hardcore sim gamers) with a frustrating feeling.
We want a simulation experience and we will play the game that closely mirrors it, but we cant help but feel liek we are playing a shell of what the game of basketball is supposed to be, and that is just frustrating.
Its only going to get worse because as technology advances the more we expect them to put in the game. NO they will never be able to put EVERYTHING in, but the more little things that get put in the better our experience is.
for instance having a broken fast break logic is nto really cool at all, this isnt badminton, its basketball, and fast breaks are a huge part of the game.
I'm not going to be THAT guy saying someone doesnt know what they are doing yadda yadda, because i know that to be untrue, obviously they know what they are doing, but the more logical explination is there was no TIME. We can debate that till the moon turns red though.
People should'nt mock someone for having an opinion.
I'm NOT saying YOU are doing this just speaking in general because i see that happening a lot in both forums, for both games.
I have my issues with both games, I like where Live is going, and the animations and feel that 2k gives me is something i enjoy as well.
but in no way am I satisfied with both, when you admit your satisfied then you're saying you are ok with mediocrity. And that is never cool, regardless if you think they can't make a perfect game or not.Last edited by GSW; 11-05-2008, 04:53 PM.#SimnationComment

Re: Damn this game is good.
The main thing missing is unique team styles...
I play 3 games of NBA 2K9 v The Suns, Cavs and Rapotrs...and it feels like 3 different games, different game paces, different tactics.
I play 3 games of NBA Live 09 v The Suns, Cavs and Raptors...and it feels like the same game 3 times.
Great fun, but too similar after a while / ruins season play as every game is pretty much the same / same game pace.Comment

The games feel different to me, from the play calling to who they go to. When I play the Spurs I get the pick and roll
with Parker and Duncan. When I play against the Lakers I get everything within the triangle from Kobe in the post to him isolating to Gasol in the Post, Odom spotting up for a jumper. It varies to me but thats just my opinion. I think the DNA pretty well and is very realistic. Now could things be improved upon? Certainly, theres always room for improvement. But I like what they did so far with the team DNA.Comment

Re: Damn this game is good.
In the half court sets, LIVE does have variety. I played the Rockets and they ran some great ISO's for Mac...exactly as he gets in real life. Spurs post up and spread the ball nicely.
I guess I'm mainly talking about game pace...every team plays at the same pace. I am really hoping the patch addresses this as I'd love to play a season of this game / not just one off games.Comment
