This game severely lacks depth...but it's absolutely worth buying this year.

Great for one off games...DNA is superb and the first taste of the future of sports games...

Even the academy and practice is fun.

Absolutely worth the $

I Rented NBA 2k9 and Live 09 played both and found that I was playing Live 09 exclusively. In all fairness other than an initial playing, I did not get in depth with 2k9. Perhaps it was because I needed something new and different. I was immediately drawn into Live by the player models, dribbling and defensive animations. As most have stated the floor spacing and halfcourt game really stand out. I was a big 2k basketball fan but Live has captured me this year. Its just plain fun.

Just picked this up today, great game so far! Definatly worth the pick up...

Just one thing, is there BAP mode where you create your own guy?

Nba live is worth the price of admission. I bought it the day it came out for $60 and the game ended up cracking in the middle and it didnt work. Bc i was pissed off i was thinking about getting 2k instead. After playing 2k though, it felt different this year and i thought 2k8 was better. I have been playing 2k the last few years but this year the game wasnt nearly as fun to play as nba live. So i bought another copy of live for $37 on ebay. Nba live improved drastically also so i really noticed the difference in gameplay where as in 2k9 you dont. The only thing better in 2k9 is the crowd (which i could care a less about really) and backboard shots actually go in on 2k9, where in live they rarely do for some odd reason.That is really it. The animations are so much better on nba live, not too mention the graphics on a HDTV. The gameplay is smoother and feels much more realistic. Bottomline...NBA LIVE IS A MUCH MORE IMPROVED GAME OVER LAST YEARS AND I PERSONALLY THINK ITS BETTER THAN 2K THIS YEAR.

If you want an NBA game where the players play like they should, top notch graphics, killer sound, great two man game, awesome spacing, drive and kick game in full effect, and game that is just damn fun to play all night long, then you want NBA Live 09.

I was playing the the demo today to try and determine if I should get the game and noticed that on the all-star level I could bomb 3's with Ray Allen and nail everyone of them. This was with Kobe Bryant guarding him. If I step it up to superstar a ton of shots just get blocked. Is this how it is with the regular game? The game seemed really fun, but I don't want to play a game where I can just bomb 3's left and right and score at will.

I don't know how it plays out of the box. I used L4D's sliders right away and have been getting realistic results. I shoot 3's in the +30% range, FG's in the 46% range, I get about 25 FT attempts, 10 offensive rebounds, 40 total rebounds, 3-5 blocks and steals per game. All the stats seem reasonable to me. (This being on 12 minute quarters on Superstar)

If you want a game in which injured players never return to the lineup, even years after they heal, buy NBA Live 09.

If you want a game in which there are no fast breaks - NBA Live 09.

If you want a game that promises constantly updated replay games but hardly delivers any - NBA Live 09.

Want a game that frequently crashes? NBA Live 09.

Or you can do what the producers have promised in regard to fixing basic game features - wait until next year.

my only problem with the game is its started to freeze alot when i start up the game and try getinto a gamemode..other then that its a good game to get

uh oh...

One thing to note: all of last years and this years games are available via Rewind. If you aren't seeing them, there must be some other issue. When I go home at night I can play any matchup I want.

Hello all.

I'm a big 2K fan, but as other people have said I'm looking for a new experience, plus 2K just has too much tweaking IMO on this years game. I shouldn't have to spend hours tweaking the game to make it realistic.

I've heard that with Live's DNA feature that LIVE actually plays like a true NBA Style game.

Just wondering if Live is worth the purchase and what are some advantages and disadvantages of it. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Also I have EA Sports NCAA Basketball 09 and love it if that matters. Thanks.

The main reason to get Live would be for 5 on 5 then, since you have NCAA...

The players do move well and they do play like their counterparts, but... it's not like it's going to be super realistic looking. The outcome is realistic (like someone scoring from a certain spot) but you still have your WTF moments. Like dudes dropping fade away 25 footers.

I really enjoy Live, but it takes some getting used to after 2k. You really have to give up on the whole graphic/animation thing to see Live's beauty. After that, well, it's a great game
