Your Expectations for Live 10

I wanted to know what you guys are expecting for Live 10 this year. I know its a little early because we haven't seen actual gameplay videos. But I feel like this could be an interesting topic anyway because we got some great bball junkies on here.

I believe this year we are going to once again see improvement from top to bottom, from the franchise mode to the presentation aspects of the game.

I'm really expecting Live to look like a NBA game this year which is something I feel that 2K really nailed. The improvements should be big but I still think its going to be tough to match 2K. Just for the simple fact that 2K has established itself already while Live is still trying to catch up in terms of looking like a NBA game.

Now for where I think the game is going to see its biggest improvements and where Live will separate itself from its competitors are how it plays.

Last year I felt that Live was the best at playing like a real basketball game. 2k has always looked great in motion but sometimes it didn't really play like an actual NBA game imo.

The play calling, spacing, and help defense all helped to make Live 09 play like a NBA game. So while I do think that 2K10 still may have Live 10 beat in looks, I feel like it still has a chance to be the best in terms of replicating NBA basketball. Especially if fundamental areas like rebounding and the transition game are improved upon.

Live 09 actually reminded me of the ID series (NBA Inside Drive for those that dont know) because even though it wasn't a beautiful game it had some great things going for it in terms of gameplay.

I think that Live 10 has the potential to be a sort of next gen ID because of Dynamic DNA and everything else it has going for it under the hood.

Overall this should be an interesting year for Live and I hope it can live up to my expectations.

Well, I'm "cautiously" hyped and have great expecations. I saw big improvements in Live 09 and I am expecting even more this next iteration. Without mentioning the "other" game, I felt that Live 09 had a better basketball core in its gameplay. Unfortunately it was hindered with sloppy animations and robotic movements, some suction defense (that prevented fast breaks etc.), the annoying shot trajectory and net physics, along with some other nitpicky things like the weird wirey looking player models with hunched backs.

Overall, I enjoyed though. Most of my gripes seem to not only have been addressed, but the overall game seems to be revamped and improved in every way. Of course, all of this is just talk and I would have to see it in action, but I am giving the devs the benefit of the doubt. They seem like a good bunch.

The DNA stuff, the team identities, and the gameplay in general seem to be improved drastically...from what I'm hearing. All this has me excited.

Good post but I'm going to have to disagree with you with graphics. After I seen that Carmelo pic w/ D.Wade & the other pics, I don't think 2k can even come close to that IMO.

Im expecting Live 10 to feature more "natural looking" animations, along with authenticity to the game of basketball. IMO, Live 09 portrayed the game of basketball quite realistically, albeit the stale animations and the non-existent fastbreaks. But, i have a good feeling about this year's game and that it will bring a fresher approach to basketball games than 2k has recently brought. I hope that Live regains its dominance this year so people can stop bashing the NBA Live series

IMO Live 09 half court game was very good. The full court game was completely brutal though. I personally have hated Lives player models(especially the faces) since Live 07. Live 06 has by far the best looking player models until this year of course.
i know Bshadows is gonna kill me for saying that! lol.

Anyway, i hope they expanded the amount of animations that really matter, ie. layup, dunking, different dribble packages, transition animations, and most important SHOOTING ANIMATIONS. The jump shooting was fine in Live 06, and 08, i dont know what happened in 09. The poor animations made the game feel slow and plodding IMO.

Back on topic, I trying to not to get my hopes up too high. I don't want to be disappointed in the final product. Not saying the Dev team is working hard, just trying to be a realist.

From what we have been shown its hard to say how this game will be, but after the gameplay vids, and the DEMO, we will be able to guage pre patch( Remember the old days where a patch was next years game lol!) how much the gameplay has improved.

The gameplay is the only thing that matters in the end. I don't care how the players look, what shoes they were, the practice court, etc., if the gameplay is bad who will continue to play past november?

I wouldn't really call Live Inside due to the fact that Live has great features while Inside Drive only had its gameplay. I do agree on the part where they are revolutionizing tendencies.

I remember in ID 04 there were a few teams that had like 2 or 3 players with the same face, but that gameplay was ahead of its time. Stopped playing it like in 07 when I through out my Xbox.

I think it will definitely be much improved, but next year I think is when it will take the crown. There's alot of things that need to be changed/fixed and I just don't see it happening in one year

Infam0us... guess who made that gameplay???... had Kobe dunking like Kobe since Inside Drive 03 lol... the main man Mike Wang. He is also the Lead Gameplay Designer for NBA Live 10... like even a person don't understand any language can play Inside Drive 03 and 04 (on Xbox) along with NBA 2k7 and realize the guys work is impeccable. To me its like how dare a person say, 2k's signature animations are superb and Wade plays just like Wade when the reason that is there is because of Mike Wang. Like seriously. If you doubt NBA Live 10 when the man played with the tools EA has since Live 09 development to the point he helped with a few things though his sole purpose was to get the hnag of things for a full rush with Live 10, something is wrong with you. Not to bash VC and 2k but besides 2k1 and 2k2 on Dreamcast, which I think a guy that name starts with and A lead and is no longer there. To me all the 2k's were limited and sucked. lol... seriously...

2k7 changed the way we thought about Basketball games and I see Live 10 doing it again. This time, the team is set to take it to spectacular heights in a few yrs.

From what i've seen of the pics released, LIVE is stepped up big time in the graphics and players looks. From what 2k released today its seems like they haven't even touched the graphics engine

Great post not bashing the game but keeping it real, that's why I'm looking forward to the improvements in live 10, in 09 I really liked how they tried to showcase the strategic element of basketball, some thing unfortunately the causual fan won't even notice.

I really hope they can get everything right cause imo I don't think gaming sites give the underdog sports games a fair review. I mean look at mlb 2k9 and nhl 2k9 I mean they weren't better then there competion but 4, 5 rating come on man give me a break.

Honestly I can't sum up what it is that constitutes great gameplay, but that is what i'm hoping for from Live 10.

Many, many more animations that are both more logical and more natural looking would be a start.

A better looking game is obvious at this point.

I read that there were changes to the control scheme so as someone who never liked Quickstrike i'm expecting this new scheme to be more intuitive and more capable, with better tutorials in the Hangar.

My expectations for Live are pretty realistic. I enjoyed 09 for what it was and I already know they have addressed the problems I had with last year's game. Now the level at which they addressed these things is still unknown, but at least I know they have been improved. I expect Live 10 to be a solid basketball game this year and hopefully it wows me. If not I know it will at least be a solid alternative to NBA 2K10.

Idk man I think you should try to keep your expectations in check to avoid disappointment. I've seen cats on these boards be krazy hyped about a game, then when it doesn't reach their lofty expectations they spend the rest of the time bashing the game when really it's their own fault. Not saying you'll do that, but I'm just saying.
