Honestly I'm one of the biggest fans of the series. DNA is cool and all but I'd past all that up if NBA Live 10 could match the ANIMATIONS of NBA 2K9.

I think I've waited patiently from Live 07, 08 and 09 for EA to step up the animations to make this series look like real NBA basketball.

I personally don't care about people in the stands or the corn guy walking up and down the aisles. I don't care about half time shows or interviews. I just want a damn game with NBA Live's graphics/Commentary mixed in with NBA 2K9 animations. Give me those 3 things and I'll be a happy camper....

If the animations are lacking or lagging behind the competion's this year then I'll have two great Football games to occupy most of my time and I'll simply skip out on a basketball title this year. I want to see the game taken to that next level like NHL 09 or MLB The Show accomplished.

Careful what you wish for. In my opinion, one of the things that is hurting 2k right now is that there are actually too many animations, and they end up causing all kinds of unintended problems.

I agree, 2K9 was over-animated IMO and it took too much user-control away.

IMO, a game can never be over-animated, at least in terms of the total number of animations and animation coverage. I would argue that every sports game out there is still woefully lacking in the amount of animations that is need to adequately represent the real sport. This isn't a criticism per se, because this is just the reality of the limitations of the current hardware.

I would agree that greater control over the animations, and much tighter contextually appropriate animation triggers do need to be improved exponentially.

I agree. I think when people say 2k was over animated they mean the situation in which those animations occur are not appropriate for that situation, or wither they are too long and don't give enough control. I have no problem with the long animations because I'd rather have something that looks more realistic than total control that takes me out of the immersion of the real sport.

I expect NBA Live 10 to have its NHL 08 year - a quantum leap.
I also expect 2k loyalists to continue calling it a piece of crap.

Lol yep pretty much.

Being loyal to a videogames is pretty damn funny when you think about it. I guess people must feel the need to constantly justify their purchase or something....

I am keeping my expectations low and hoping to be pleasantly surprised. At least I know the other game is guranteed to be good so I can't really go wrong this year.

Being loyal to a videogames is pretty damn funny when you think about it. I guess people must feel the need to constantly justify their purchase or something....

same reason that for some reason if you buy a xbox360 you have to hate the PS3 or vice versa, or if you're a PC gamer you have to hate Macs, or if you like domestic cars you have to hate imports, if you like one thing you have to hate the other....never made much sense to me

But you forget that 2K loyalists were Live loyalists until 2K far surpassed Live.

I expect NBA Live 10 to be great only because it has to be or else it spells the death of EA NBA games.

What we've seen so far has hyped it up pretty well. I expect gameplay to be amazing and to solidify people switching over.

same reason that for some reason if you buy a xbox360 you have to hate the PS3 or vice versa, or if you're a PC gamer you have to hate Macs, or if you like domestic cars you have to hate imports, if you like one thing you have to hate the other....never made much sense to me

But you forget that 2K loyalists were Live loyalists until 2K far surpassed Live.

I guess i just find it stupid that there are "loyalists" to either game considering it's a damn videogame and is simply an enjoyable way to spend some spare time. People act like it's some kind of blood feud going back 4 generations or something.....

No excuses why it will be patched at a later date because the retail version is broke out the box. That is my expectations for Live 2010

Expect it to be better than last year's game.

That's all I can expect from it, I think we'll get two good games this year honestly.

I just expect it to play a solid game of basketball right now, and just improve gameplay wise. I'm not expecting much though.

I expect the usual improvements in graphics which appears to have happened if we go by the screenshots we've seen so far. I expect improvements in gameplay, and if the hype is to be believed then that will also happen.

And something thats very important to me, a proper be a pro mode. It looks like 2k now has one, and EA's needs to be at least as good if not better. If EA has one then i will buy the game again like i have every year, if not i'll switch to 2k for the first time ever, and i hope i dont have to do that.
