Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
live has made stides in the right direction, but improvements still need to be made. There is still sucktion rebounds and animations that dont look good, and make the game all sped up like in madden. ,but it isnt tht bad. looks like a much better game than live 09. Still not on par wit the fluid movements of nba 2k7 or 2k8. Gameplay wise it looks much better. though.Comment

It's the difficulty setting. Passes will not get deflected as much.Comment

Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
What I meant was it "GET THRU" LEWIS body.. It should have been "RICOCHET" off lewis body.. Could have been a Loose ball... The level of difficulty got nothing to do with it....Last edited by ronimous; 08-24-2009, 10:03 AM.Comment

Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
Man, this game looks CLEAN. Just crispy and beautiful. I wish I had a HDMI-capable 360 and a new TV to really let this beast shine.
And yeah, the people playing are hilarious. Looks like a 2K9 Team-Up game. Steve's assurances that the game's not a dunkfest like this on All-Star was all I needed to hear to put aside all their craziness happening in that video. Hopefully this doesn't get out too much because it would make the game look bad... well not LOOK bad (don't think that's possible), but seem like it is easily-abused.
Great stuff despite the idiots in control.
So i guess this guy is free to say whatever he wants with no warning, anyone else says something about NBA Live they get put in the cell, just shows how biased this site is.Comment

Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
Haha come on man, I've been here for a long time and am a fan of both games and will buy both this year. I think everyone knows that... context is important.
And this gameplay from Germany certainly did look like a 2K9 Team-Up game because they were cherry-picking and basically running up the court to finish at the basket. No 2K-EA war stuff going on there, just stating what I saw.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
I know I'm late to the party, but I wanted to give my impressions of the video in the first post. Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I haven't really played a LIVE game since 2004 (I was really put off by "freestyle" controls...fairly fun and somewhat revolutionary but was too crazy to be in a "simulation" basketball game IMHO). So basically I'm a 2k fanatic. I'm just letting you know so you can (hopefully :winkforgive me if I say something completely false.
Animations look very smooth. A few minor hiccups here and there, but nothing terrible. Obviously this is only a small video of an earlier build but I saw a few animations too many times. Also the bench animations seem a little strange. Basically some players on the bench get a little too excited over run-of-the-mill plays like basic layups, short jumpers, etc.
Its hard to gauge the quality of gameplay when the two people playing just ran amok like three year old kids at legoland. Also the difficulty was obviously turned down making it hard to judge. The only problem I saw that really stuck out was the pass-through-the-body thing which has already been mentioned 1000 times in this thread alone.
Otherwise the game looks pretty good so far. I can't yet say that I'll get LIVE this year, but it's definitely piqued my interest.Comment

That's what happens when you hold the turbo button and aimlessly run around chucking up shots.Comment

Re: New 5 on 5 gameplay from gamescon
Thank you.
I look forward to a demo to see how she plays.
I know you guys most likely completely disagree but if LIVE's devs switch to something similar 2k's shot system I'll be sold. Note that I'm not talking about the the shot stick, but rather how your timing of the shot button directly affects the timing of the shooter's release. If you release the button too early, the player will release the ball too early and vice versa.
I remember from last years demo the release looked exactly the same no matter when you released the button, which made it difficult (to me anyways) to time shots.Comment
