Lets Be Honest About Lives Graphics For A Minute

I cant even lie, the few trailer like vids that was released before the 5 on 5 vids today looked great, the dribbling in place, the hustle plays, the rebounding, those vids were good. Now that I have seen actual 5 on 5 footage, I am less interested in this game, everything looks akward as hell, did yall see those funny looking finishes at the basket, or how stiff players look when driving to the basket, how players jumpers still look jerky as hell, ect. I dont know about yall, but this is something that cant be ignored, the reason why I have not played Live cause it does not move lifelike, and that is still the same, if anybody can sit up here and say these Live 10 animations looks better than 2k9, you gotta be crazy.

In 2k9, you have less control, but at least when players move they look like real people. Live has great skin textures to make people look human, great lighting, but that is where the good of the graphics end, players body sizes are not as good as 2k, faces are not as good, and the movement is not close. Im not hating at all, just being realistic about something that is a major issue, I would like posters to tell me what they think about Lives movements, and is it an issue for you. I would hope mods dont lock this, im just being realistic, hopefully I can get some opinions on it.

that because idiots are playin the game man...they are playin on rookie too which makes the game look stupid. plus its bad quality video man. jus wait for the demo to drop. then well see for ourselves if this game sounds and looks as good as it does right now.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

Playing how some of these guys play, any game can look bad, even 2k.

Also, animations /= graphics. Live has the graphics/visuals battle won this year unless those 2K shots were extremely early and they have some new skin textures and anti-aliasing up their sleeve. Otherwise, it's not even close in my mind... 2K's faces are probably a little bit better, but the overal crispness and detail in Live is just bonkers. The Staples Center looks SO GOOD in those off-screen vids since they were taken on a nice HDTV setup... 'crispy' was the word I used to describe it.

And the benches and crowd being so alive at a full 60 fps while the game is also smooth and so detailed shows that EA has the technology to make the better-looking game with more detailed characters. 2K had huge framerate issues in 2K9 because of the crowd (which wasn't even 60 fps or particularly detailed) to the point where they had to disable cameras until they could figure it out... that was also the cause for the blurry courts last year. I just think 2K's kind of maxing out in the visuals department.

I think that Live has improved big time as far as their player movements and animations are concerned. I can see a big difference from last year.

But, I wouldn't say that they are as smooth or natural as 2K's are.

Again, they are much MUCH better than last year's though.

Yea the decision not to upgrade by VC is really starting to show now. Worked great for the first couple of years on next gen, but now it's starting to show.

I don't think I EVER noticed blurry courts in 2K last year.

Maybe I just don't have a good eye, or just don't pay enough attention. But, I never noticed it at all.

Re: Lets Be Honest About Lives Graphics For A Minute

Yeah I supported it at first because I liked the regular Xbox games and thought they were smooth, but it's really starting to show now. I mean even post-patch when they supposedly fixed it, there were still framerate issues when the camera turned around on the 2K Camera after a basket. 2K will probably have ridiculously smooth animations again, and I do expect them to improve on the 2K9 uncontrollable LS movement, but in terms of graphics/visuals, there's no contest in my mind. Granted, we haven't seen final 2K shots (which always look better than the first ones), but I honestly can't see how it could possibly look better than Live. The lighting, my god, the lighting!

EDIT: Yeah TMagic, I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out all the way back in the 2K9 demo. But then I started really looking and you can tell that the court logos were low-quality and it made it look blurry. You can notice it at tip-off and if you zoom in on replays mostly. I'm not the type that cares about that sort of thing, but when it's a sign (along with the framerate issues) that their graphics system may be getting maxed out, that's worrying to me as someone who likes and plays both games..

This guy is kind of right. I was eluding to this a little yest when I made a mistake and said poly's where higher in 2k. Its def not the poly count but something, I can't quite put my finger on it makes 2k move better and the colors pop more realistically. Idk if its darker blacks or what but the Jerseys in 2k look to have thickness and weight. Imma hold judgement til I see more from both. But honestly I have been feeling 2k does something better then Live still.

With that said I'm still buying Live and it is a hell of an improvement. Live 11 should be even better if they continue to grow at this pace. P.s Hire Lynell Jinks from 2k lol.

That was the biggest problem visually....

We also can't expect Live coming from as bad as they were to totally get every single thing right and make 2k looks novice in one yr. But the effort the team at EA gave is def massive. I expect by next yr, things will shine even brighter thanks to EA's next gen tech and financial power. This yr should be a great great great yr for NBA fans. Next Live (after it proved its here to play this yr) Cover will probably feat. LeBron James or another huge player like (Wishful thinking) Dwyane Wade again.

I agree, a still shot of Live looks great and looks like real people are on a real court, 2k still looks cartoony, still great, but not lifelike like Live. But when Live's players start moving, its a wrap, they cant compete with 2k in anything on the court. Those Dwight Howard post moves looked terrible in the Live vid, 2k's post moves were simple and they didnt have too many, but the ones they had looked real as hell, and that is the reason why 2k has been the better game for so long, people would rather have players moving like themselves, and moving lifelike, than simply looking lifelike. To each his own, but I dont think Live can compete until they completely change the animation system, they need to scrap a lot of their animations. The in place dribbles are great looking though, lol.
