I'm not the type that cares about that sort of thing, but when it's a sign (along with the framerate issues) that their graphics system may be getting maxed out, that's worrying to me as someone who likes and plays both games..
    O. Alright.

I guess that's why I didn't notice it. So you think it's really sign of the graphics being maxed out? Or could it be something they just didn't get around to working on?

Re: Lets Be Honest About Lives Graphics For A Minute

I can overlook awkward animations/movement as long as the control feels good (mainly, that you're in control over basically everything all the time) and the under-the-hood stuff is right. Live's focus on authenticity via DNA updates is a huge thing for me... I mean damn, they eliminated shooting ratings totally because they don't need them anymore... how cool is that?

TMagic, considering the framerate issues, the blurry courts, and the low framerate crowds/benches/surroundings, I'd say yes. But I'm no game designer... they could figure out a way to optimize the game and eliminate all those problems while improving the textures, etc. -- I have no idea. But so far, the 2K shots were loaded with aliasing issues (you can see little blocks on their skin textures/jerseys, even the full-res IGN shots) and their overall look has that smoky covering up imperfections look where as Live is super-crisp and has no such issues in any of the screenshots I've seen. Just putting 2 and 2 together basically, but again, I don't know **** about graphics and the capabilities required to make them better... just going by what I've heard and seen.

Re: Lets Be Honest About Lives Graphics For A Minute

I love Live's improvement this year. The graphics are clean as hell, the colours *pop*, players move much more smoothly.

However, I will need to hold my reservation for player likenesses. The Live team did a great job getting in the player shoes/tattoos, but I'm not sure about the faces at the moment. Shouldn't be a huge issue.

Live also needs to work on the fluidity of the post game. Hopefully it can be tweaked before release, because Dwight's moves in the post were still a bit jerky. Jerky movement does bother me, even if I get good control. Still have to look at it, so I'd like a smoother game. It's almost there, but not quite yet.

I wasn't saying it to say that you don't have H.D's also, i'm just saying if it was blurry i would of noticed it, I really don't see anything blurry when gaming.

So,what's the point? Don't like Lives visuals, don't buy it.

Yes,2k is,IMO, ahaed concerning animations. But mainly, because they build everything around animations instead of deep controlls.

And I prefer to PLAY the game...if I want the most perfect animations and visuals,I WATCH the NBA.
Especially, if the difference aren't that big between live and 2k.

                You got that right.

I wish I had gotten a PS3 to play it. Now that they dropped the price, I may consider buying one just to play NBA 09. I may not even buy 2K10 or Live 10 if I decide to do so.

I feel sorry for you if you think it is not a big difference between the 2, smh, Lives animations are not on the level of 2k7, let alone 2k9 my dude, get real, I aint hating, just pointing out facts. If you dont care about animations, thats cool, cause I could care less about Live looking lifelike in a still picture, which one is more important. So you would rather play a game that looks better without movement, aint movement the biggest thing in any sports game.

Like I stated before, with the huge advantage 2k has on Live in animations, Live cant possibly be better. Live had 1 advantage last year, and that was basically CPU play on every level, they had that cause of the DNA feature, 2k has that now, and if 2k does it right then Live will have another disappointing year in sells, no advantages = not possible to be better. Can someone please point out an advantage other than standstill graphics and CPU tendancies.

I'm in the same boat because I don't know crap about graphics, tech, and whatever else goes into a game. I just play. LOL.

I guess when I see how much the graphics have improved for Live. I don't see a reason why 2K couldn't improve either.

One could have thought that Live pushed their graphics to their limits. They had poor stadium lightning, bad crowd, player models, empty benches, no baseline extras (cheerleaders, mascots, cameramen), etc. It was that way for a few years.

Then look at this year. They improved in seemingly every way possible.

So I'm hopeful that 2K can still improve on their graphics. But, that's just how I look at things without knowing anything that goes on under the hood.

You don't need to feel sorry for my opinion, but thx anyways.
I played 2k9 and can't stand that lack of control.

My question was...what's your point in comming into the live section just to open a thread where you try to explain why 2ks visuals are superior?

Shall I now open a thread in the 2k section "Live has the better DNA system" ???

If you don't like live, its visuals, its name, ball size,armpit-less player models or whatever...fine.
I respect your opinion on that. I just think it's useless to bring your stuff here, especially such unbiased.

You made your point, you think 2k is better. Fine. So what?

Otherwise, it's not even close in my mind... 2K's faces are probably a little bit better, but the overal crispness and detail in Live is just bonkers. The Staples Center looks SO GOOD in those off-screen vids since they were taken on a nice HDTV setup... 'crispy' was the word I used to describe it.

And the benches and crowd being so alive at a full 60 fps while the game is also smooth and so detailed shows that EA has the technology to make the better-looking game with more detailed characters. 2K had huge framerate issues in 2K9 because of the crowd (which wasn't even 60 fps or particularly detailed) to the point where they had to disable cameras until they could figure it out... that was also the cause for the blurry courts last year. I just think 2K's kind of maxing out in the visuals department.
I think both games look good and neither game looks so far and beyond the other that you feel cheated playing one or the other. That's just me though. After I played NBA 2k on the dreamcast I could not go back to live on the ps one. We aren't talking that stark a difference in the graphics dept imo.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Now that I have seen actual 5 on 5 footage, I am less interested in this game, everything looks akward as hell, did yall see those funny looking finishes at the basket, or how stiff players look when driving to the basket, how players jumpers still look jerky as hell, ect. I dont know about yall, but this is something that cant be ignored, the reason why I have not played Live cause it does not move lifelike, and that is still the same, if anybody can sit up here and say these Live 10 animations looks better than 2k9, you gotta be crazy.

In 2k9, you have less control, but at least when players move they look like real people. Live has great skin textures to make people look human, great lighting, but that is where the good of the graphics end, players body sizes are not as good as 2k, faces are not as good, and the movement is not close. Im not hating at all, just being realistic about something that is a major issue, I would like posters to tell me what they think about Lives movements, and is it an issue for you. I would hope mods dont lock this, im just being realistic, hopefully I can get some opinions on it.
No offense broham! But you've never liked Live, nor have you had any interest in it. This is just another post to hype of that whack as 2k9 game and try to throw some irrelevant combination of comparisons.

2k9's graphics aren't even close to this game and definitely not better.

If anyone has ever followed your post on both forums, 2k can do no wrong in your eyes and are the God's of Basketball. Honestly I haven't seen 1 thing from 2k's camp this season, that even shows the levels of detail or improvements that Live has done in under a year. 2k's graphics are way more cartoon-like than anything EA's game has brought to the table or displayed.

Could be the bright colors, but something about the graphic scheme leads me to keep feeling like the game is "cartoony." Don't know what it is.

Shadox, you need to chill. FYI, there was a thread discussing DNA vs. 82games in the NBA 2k forums. Relax.

Well, I actually do.Sorry if I might have overreacted..DNA just was an example.

I just get a bit sick of ppl who starts a thread with no real reason.
Furthermore, I don't like things like "I feel sorry for your opinion cuz its plain wrong".

I will just ignore such trolls in the future.

Guys -- I ask that you play the demo then judge. You're seeing videos from a TV using a phone, not HD videos, a TV.....

IMO the comparison in graphics quality between the two games is not even a question.
