Re: My Gamescom Demo Video
Great stuff all around. Nice vid. So glad I decided to make the jump with Live 09 so as to have a base to work with on Live 10. This is a definite purchase.
It also seems like there's no lame cheat in the game which is a huge plus for me. I'm not buying two games this year, like the sign said There can only be one and looks like Live 10 is it.
Please tell me there isn't some cheap catchup online when playing great teams like some games we know? And it seems like the gameplay descriptions may preclude the need for this but will there be a "sim" lobby?Comment

Re: My Gamescom Demo Video
meanwhile some Live consumers prefer more control over the total package as opposed to animations that they have no control over...Nothing wrong with that either.
Personally...I started with 2k on the Dreamcast and enjoyed the game thru 2k8...Since then I've preferred Live...even with all its problems...Live has slowly been the game that has given me more enjoyment and realistic basketball when played appropriately. I think at the end of the day all LIVEE and 2k consumers/fanboys can agree that Mike Wang is the man.
No offense to the other LIVE team members but Mike wang seems to have brought something to this game that other Live versions were not able to implement...For me iits looking very much like Live this year...2k Is just getting old...There are just so many coats of new paint that the old 76 Pinto can handleComment

Re: My Gamescom Demo Video
Beluba,
since I see you peepin in on the thread can you answer a few questions for me?...They are as follows:
1. Baseline Exploitation - Is this an area that has been addressed?...in previous versions it was far too easy to go baseline and score at will.
2. Transition Defense - Do forwards and Centers get back on D as they should?...Last year it killed me to see Yao Ming outrunning Amare or other smaller post players in the transition game.
3. Manual Rebounding/Boxiing out - Talk to me about it...Does it work and did you feel like you could have a manual impact on going for bounds?
4. Zone Defenses - Your thoughts on how they were implemented in the game...effective and more importantly over-effective???
5. Mid Range game - I always thought most cyber hoop games were too many dunks and too many 3's...How does the mid range game feel in LIVE
6. Online Leagues - Please tell me the feature is closer to what 2k offers in this area of online play...Franchises online would be greatComment

2. Transition defense was also completely rewritten and it is very strong. The proper guys get back to anchor the defense, we upgraded our check switch/pickup logic, and there's no cheap boost to the speed of defenders in order to properly defend the break. Being able to properly implement individual player speed in our locomotion engine and our integration of NCAA's team tempo feature really did wonders for our transition game.
3. Yeah, giving the user the ability to manually boxout and rebound was one of the highest priorities in our rewrite of the rebounding logic this year. It was something I personally found controller-throwing frustrating in 09 so trust me when I say it got the focus it deserves.
4. Zone defense works effectively in Live this year if you use it against the right teams and with the proper personnel. I wouldn't say it's overly effective but it does work well against certain teams. The logic and positioning of the players is very realistic. I thank our NCAA guys for that because they focus on zone defense much more than we do... and now that we're on a true common engine, it was very easy for us to share the work.
5. Not sure if you saw my recent blogs... but yes, the midrange game is immensely important in Live 10. From the start of the year, our #1 goal was to make sure that everything we did in gameplay contributed to an authentic and balanced experience. Personally, I don't have any fun playing a game that encourages people to go to the basket on every possession or shoot 50 3-pointers with Ray Allen to be successful. And one of the biggest accomplishments of Live 10, IMO, is that it rewards you for playing to the strengths of your team and executing solid basketball fundamentals. Hopefully you will agree with me once you have some time with the game yourself. But I can easily say that Live 10 is the best user vs. user (as well as online) basketball experience I've ever played. And you better learn to use the midrange game or your offense is going to struggle. That's a fact.
6. I can't speak for iminurbase because this is his area of expertise. He'll be revealing more details on new game modes and online play in the coming weeks.Comment

Re: My Gamescom Demo Video
Beluba can you answer if the ps3 version will use Quincunx(Anti Aliasing) Like Fight night round 4 on ps3 because I know xbox360 version will have 4x AA and since ps3 can't handle it, will they implement Quincunx cos it's better than not having AA at all!!!!!!
I hope you can answer because I don't expect you to be 1 dimensional developer and only know about gameplay...Comment
