Re: What control options has you the most excited?
I just like the overall design of the all these gameplay elements. They seem really well thought out and accessible.
Hopefully allowing people to "think" in basketball terms rather then trying to remember a button combo or which way to twirl a stick.
I don't really care about what kind of crossover I perform or whatever.
I just want to be thinking about...
-When to blow past my defender,
-and do I go left or right,
-Timing the pass to hit a cutter,
-creating space for a jumper
-finding the open shooter
The whole Live 10 control system seems to fit in with those ideals.Comment

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
I'm glad you feel this way cause this was definitely the goal of the design. I never wanted to introduce new mechanics for the sake of having new mechanics. From the get go, it was always about giving you guys the ability to do what you want to do on the court w/o the sticks getting in the way. For me, it's really rewarding to watch a total noob pickup Live and basically playing solid fundamental hoops after one quarter of learning. And then when it comes to the more experienced players, you see them using the advanced layers of control and pulling off some incredible stuff. But at the end of the day, the guys who end up winning are the guys who just execute good basketball... not necessarily the guys who can pull off every street fighter combo known to man. It's what so many people loved about the Inside Drive series, and I'm glad that Live 10 can kind of bring that back to the table so to speak.
You pull off the same play too may times the CPU recognized it and beat you to your spot.
If you didn't pass the ball around you weren't getting in for a dunk every single time.
If you got hot they would be on top of you immediately and made you give up the ball.... it was unreal for its time.
If this game can give me that back I will be enjoying some sick basketball games that are strategy based. When you get in that mode there is nothing like itComment

Animations, flashy graphics etc are really nice and they are vibrant part of the experience... but the core gameplay is just so important.
I really enjoyed the Inside Drives, and mourned their passing. May i ask which ones did you worked on? 2003-2004?Comment

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
Now thats the truth! That game made you fight for the win fundamentally because playing like a cheeser got you punished. If you werent watching those wings coming around those screens for the mid rang J, you got toasted, and sometimes it was nothing you could do.

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
krazy, not sure, but the owners know and are working on it
Wiffy, isnt it the truth? I still have ID 03 which I know Mike worked on and I kept my original xbox becasue of that game...too bad the 360 doesnt do BC.
This is the kind of thing you want, a real fundamental challenge from the CPU, that causes you to think because in the midst of that, you have no time to think about fooling around.
Blink at the wrong moment and you see the SF cut for a pass and whop! its amazing how ahead of time that game was, even though it was graphically uglyComment

Re: What control options has you the most excited?

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
I wanted to ask you about ID 04. It didnt seem like you guys were able to really put alot into it like it originally seemed from the talks at E3 or whatever it was.
Did they cut production in that game that year?Comment

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
Hands down, off-ball control is the best feature this year.
Simply because your opponent will have to play multiple places on defense and cant lazily tap lock on.
Controlling Ray Allen off ball and getting off-ball screens is the future!!Comment

Re: What control options has you the most excited?
EPIC isnt it..Basic fundamental basketball is why the reason i love the looks of nba live 10..EAC didnt add 1 million animations nor anything fancy but they did bring live back to the way it was supose to be and thats powerful. The controls as far as the passing shooting is true to life at any giving will..I see alot of complaints about the animations and if you a true live fan you will see how fluid it looks and everything is responsive. I mean come on what game you know has the passing/shooting/ect controls like that?Comment

In real life I'm a shooter and guys I play pick up games know I want off ball screens to get my shot. In fact I make MOST of my shots off of off-ball screens at the 3 point line.
So this year is going to be fantastic for die hards!Comment
