Obi sez: Don't play me like dat.

Seriously tho Jano...sounds like you gotta slow down a bit bro. The defense is really not that good, lol.

I do hate when they jump the nano second you hit the shoot button, and end up blocking it before you even get into the shooting animation.

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)

I figure I might as well put in my two cents, given I've been lurking this forum for the better half of a month or so. I've been playing the demo pretty much non-stop the past week or so (Orlando mostly, just because I like jacking 3s), and for the most part it has been a positive experience. I won't regurgitate what has largely been said, but can state, above all the things I like about the player control, aesthetic etc... that the game is FUN, and this is an important point in evaluating any game I think. Nothing like chaining together a series of good offensive possessions to really get your rhythm going.

Having said that, and I hate to revert so quickly to the negative as the game really does deserve more praise than what I am giving it here, there are some key matters that are a concern/annoyance to me:

      - The teammate AI kinda sucks. This is a pretty generic statement, but the fact of the matter is, so many of the points I give up are due to the fact that the AI gives little to no help in any aspects of closing out or rebounding (dudes just stand there while opponents come and pick the ball off the ground). The closing out one is particularly annoying just because I can play perfect defense on someone, but then they just pass the ball to a dude on the wing, who due to the AI's helpful hand, can pull up before I can switch to the other guy and meaningfully contest, resulting in a basket.

I'm only really annoyed with the rebounding as a byproduct of this shoddy AI defense - the mechanics behind it work reasonably well, as if I focus on rebounding with Dwight, I can box out/get into position and this is all quite seamless. However, this is usually a frivolous exercise, as the opponents rarely miss when I've left the defense to the AI.

      - The aforementioned "everyone-standing-around" issue with loose balls lets down what would otherwise be a decent game mechanic.

      - I can appreciate what EA has done with regards to inside dribbling, as this has often been the onus of past basketball titles. However, the current "insta-TO" situation is probably too severe, as I've gotten offensive rebounds where I land under the ring and then immediately turn it over without any chance to react.

But ultimately, it is perhaps most telling that I am still incredibly likely to purchase the game on Oct 6 DESPITE these flaws, and I think that speaks a lot about the quality of what is there.

Also, as an unrelated note, Carmelo in the hangar is prettttty slick. And I'm not even a fan of him in real life.

I'm not really a guy who enjoys playing the cpu so the demo for me doesn't really tell the whole story...I'm a hardcore online head 2 head guy and based off of the demo I think thats where this game may shine. Playing other people online should be a great time with this game as I believe much more of the game will be opened up

All of the above. There are situations where my teammates are watching the ball, and I just can't believe it. They seem completely unaware of the ball once it is loose.

Hopefully this, and some of the other things you have mentioned are fixed when the Synergy updates hit.

I am loving the mid range game and the control you have on offense and defense. The game really feels authentic to basketball. I see the differences between the two teams, Howards defensive beast, but Gasol and Bynum are a monster defensive tandem down low also. Kobe is all most unstoppable, while the Magic can pound down low or kick out outside for the three ball.

Defense is a mix of on ball and low post positioning and gambling for the ball. The game is not perfect but this is a major improvement not just for Live but for basketball gaming.

"BTW, with the pace of the game, this is gonna have to be played in 12 minute quarters."

Right now on All Star I'm scoring in the 20's per game (8 minutes.) That's way too much for 12.

On Superstar the CPU scores more, and so do I.

These are the exact same problems I have w/ the game Lol.

And to HMcCoy Man I'm exaggerating a lot about the offense I'm still able to score. And this game provides me w/ the most excitement I have ever had scoring in a bball game.

Because of how tough the "Demons and The Enforcers" play on D, it feels real good when I go on scoring runs. Knowing that I had to work to get that drive or nail the mid range jumper makes scoring feels great.

But most of my frustrations are coming from the defensive end and how my AI players are of no help to me. When my guys give up 5 straight jumpers it just irritates me to no end.

Or when I'm on offense and as I'm driving the lane I see some some great rotations that I never see my teammates display.

Brinkybon's post was perfect in my opinion when it came to the Team AI issues. Its already tough enough to guard and out rebound one player.

It's just ridiculous that sometimes I have to practically guard every player on the floor myself in order to get a stop.

This is the reason why I'm putting the demo down because right now I'm just not able to do that because of my issues w/ the broadcast camera.

I still had fun w/ the game even despite all these issues so that's why I'm still going to give the full vers. a chance.

I don't think I've played NBA live for at least 4 years. That being said I was honestly optimistic about this game from what Id seen in videos and read in the write ups. After playing 5 games in a row I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe I need to spend some more time with it but it just doesn't feel like basketball to me.

Players seem to slide all over the court. The CPU gets sucked into my team mates setting a pick for me. Defensive 3 seconds is never called and blocking is lol bad. The animations and sig shots aren't anywhere near what 2k has produced.

I will not be buying the game. Too many glitches and little annoyances that remind me too much of the same kind of crap that happens in madden.

Give it some time. Your enjoyment definitely goes up as you get familiar with the controls.

Live is weird...it grows on you, then it kinda grows off. The feel though...moving...pulling up...its velvet. Little nagging things hold it back, but some parts here and there feel groundbreaking. From the demo, this game reminds me of your favorite Live of the past (05 on Xbox for me), with a little Inside Drive mixed in.

March Madness is probably going to be ridiculous...

I still had fun w/ the game even despite all these issues so that's why I'm still going to give the full vers. a chance.
LMAO yo man, for some reason I am here dying at your posts referring to Dwight & Co. as "The Enforcers" & "Demons" LOL man that is so funny to me for some reason.

But you're right about how you have to guard everyone and almost be a step ahead of passes that result in jumpers, because even after 3 consecutive 3's or long 2's by Fisher, Jameer still doesn't get it in his head that maybe he should get up in his jersey more.

And then you have to literally take over the rebounding if you want a chance, so it makes for consistent frustration on just about every possession.

And then you see the CPU players contesting your shots WAY better than your CPU teammates contest theirs. WTF

And EA MUST FIX the "Pass That Piff Mode" laziness when balls get loose (pause) because it is a potential reason many may put this game down before long after a few losses causes by it.

One last thing: MUST FIX THE AI JUMPING AT EVERY OTHER PUMPFAKE!! This is the NBA, defenders don't jump all crazy like this. I mean, I've gotten Pau to jump at 15 ft'ers fakes by Dwight. Yes, Dwight. And on SUPERSTAR. Come on EA, you're almost there fix it!

Wife's mom: "Be grateful that's what he's running out at midnight for."
