    while going for a layup move the left stick to either the left or right of the rim, only certain players (if capable) do it. Watch the shooting tutorials video from the first post - it helps a lot.

        Something I've disliked for two years in a row now... get rid of the alley-oop button and give me a pro-hop!

            in a real basketball game, a hop is something that is very very difficult to pull of. I like the 'hop' in live better because you actually have to take into account where the defensive players. In the competition game, you could dribble close to the paint, pro hop and the player would spin a foot or two closer or hop a foot or two closer - without regard of the defensive player. It just creates a set of canned animations.

            I think the live control scheme is more intuitive and awards higher awareness.

                The thing, you don't have full control over the hop. In my experience you can't pull it off how you'd like. I can't drive the lane, pro-hop and dish off when the D comes over.

                If you turned down the effectiveness in Live '05 it wasn't that big an issue. There's a way to balance it and still reward the user for getting to the hole.

                            It's to allow you to control any player off the ball if you hold the player icon and release LT.

                                Being a basketball player I hop step all the time and it feels like a missing control piece to me.

                                I'm also trying to consistently pull off spins but I'm having a hard time right now.

                                        I will admit that despite still liking 2k more at this point overall, I do happen to favor the right stick controls a heck of a lot more. Seems like I am totally in control. Sometimes on 2k I feel like I'm doing what I want but to a certain extent.

                                                        I've had very little success boxing out, it just feels broken to me. I thought the hold Y to box out release to rebound could be intuitive but it has not been at all. I've tried to do it as you've explained but it is still lackluster. Pau Gasol has no position at all and grabs boards over top of Shard then dunks over him. That is not fun.
