Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
I put this in the rebounding thread, but thought it would be good to repost here:I've had very little success boxing out, it just feels broken to me. I thought the hold Y to box out release to rebound could be intuitive but it has not been at all. I've tried to do it as you've explained but it is still lackluster. Pau Gasol has no position at all and grabs boards over top of Shard then dunks over him. That is not fun.
Don't think of holding Y as a typical boxout button. In fact, don't even use the Y button to box out. Move your player into proper position (ie. find a body and seal him off) and the boxout will kick in automatically. After the ball hits the rim, then hold down Y. If you press it too early (before your player can "find" a rebound), the button will time out and your player will jump and miss. Also, if you release Y at anytime, your player will jump.
So the best thing to do is to seal your guy, wait for the ball to get within a catchable range, and then start holding Y. As soon as your player finds an acceptable rebound animation that gets him to the ball, he'll jump and successfully grab itComment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
So that is how you box out....not sure if I really like the fact that it auto kicks in a box out animation, I like to manually box out my opponent so a designated button or holding Y would have been much better with boxing out, to me it seems like you have to hope the box out animation kicks in order to successfully box out but it kind of takes away having full control over you player to me since it automatically happens, I don't know I will have to play it again to fully understand how it works but as of right now I don't like the idea of automatic boxing out just seems to hit or miss. Just a couple of pennies I wanted to throw out here.I put this in the rebounding thread, but thought it would be good to repost here:

Unsure where to post this question...
Will there be an option to make the RS absolute (as it is now) or camera relative?Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Can we get an official explanation of the pick and roll system? I'm very confused.. seems like I can release B early and get them to slip or hold it normal and get them to actually set the screen but I can't figure out how to get them to pick and pop. And even the two that I can do see a bit random, sometimes they won't cut hard to the hoop after setting the pick and sometimes they will...Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Pick & Roll Control:
Point your Left Analog stick in the direction of the teammate you want a screen from and press and hold B (Circle) (*note: if your Left Analog is neutral, Synergy will select the best screener for you.) Press RB (R1) to toggle back and forth between roll vs. fade. A small icon will appear above the screener’s head to indicate what you’ve chosen. Releasing the B (Circle) button at any time will send the screener on a slip, roll, or fade based on what you’ve selected and the timing of your release.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
Ahh, must've missed that... totally forgot about RB in the whole thing. Should have some fun with Rashard Lewis tonight using that. Thanks for the info.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
I am wondering this as well. It is not intuitive if the right stick moves stay absolute instead of being camera relative.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo - Controls
The only thing I would like added/changed is the way you do spin moves. It'd be cool if they would do spin moves the way 2k does them. Even if you still have to be moving forward it would be satisfying to half spin the right stick and do a spin move(but not to cheese
).
Edit: You would also be able to control whether or not you wanna spin left or right.Last edited by RayDog253; 09-15-2009, 03:44 AM.Comment
