Re: After playing the demo, are you buying NBA Live on the release date?

After playing the demo I think it's a better game than 2k9
But I still see allot of problems.
it's funny cause there same problems that 2k had a few years back, With animations over control
For example forcr fields on offensive rebounds, animations taking over, the spacing is a little off but not as bad as 2k past games.
The saving grace I think live has is the triple threat position is the best I've ever seen and felt. Also the way the defense reacts and rotates is done very well. These two main things hide lives other problems. Day one purchase maybe along with 2K and I stop buying both games 4 years ago but live has enough game for to start back buying both and evaluating before I take one of them back. Live is good this year better the 2k10 we will see. I think what will happen is live will make the biggest improvement but 2k will still be the better game but since live will make the biggest improvement ppl will fool themselves into thinking it's the better game. It's like 2k was already at a 8 and live was at a 5. Then live came up to an 8 (+3) and 2k came up to an 9(+1) even though live had the biggest improvement it's still not better than 2k. Thats just my opinion from playing the demo it might change when I actually play the retail version of both games. I don't care about features and graphics it's all about gameplay.

I don't know how you can project anything about 2k10. There's been very little info released on it.

i played the demo quite a few times...the defense is terrible in the game and the rebounding is quite forced. i havent played a live since 2004 and i guess it's going to continue this year.

I've played NBA Live from the very early versions until the last few years where its been 2K for me. After playing with the demo I've pre-ordered Live and i'm more than happy with my choice.

Nope...and my opinion is not necessarily a slight towards NBA Live'10, I thought the demo was pretty good. I just don't think basketball games in general will advance enough for me to feel the need to buy another b-ball game this generation. I'm all set with what I currently have, so it's going to take a monumental effort to get me to upgrade.

After spending more time with the demo, I won't be buying it, not in '09 anyway. The way the blocking works, contesting shots sometimes, bigs on the fastbreak and other niggles (Bigs eurostepping around guards, fouls on the hop step being called shooting fouls/and-1s, the traveling that is a regular occurrence due to contact animations, trying and failing to draw a charge on a layup yet the CPU gets the ball out of bounds, out bounds in general, etc) tell me "maybe next year".

Those might be touched up in the final version, there hasn't been any clear word. Still, its a battle of little things between this and 2K, but i won't list the ones that sway me in here.

How can you say this when the game play hasn't even been shown and there is no Demo to judge?!
"The DLC NBA Game" is a self-admitted redo with only small adjustments to the game...

Live is a good game, but I laugh when I read all these people trashing a game that hasn't even shown any gameplay or released a demo.

Personally, I keep playing a little of a the LIVE demo everyday and every time I do, I just find myself a little less wowed every time. That's not to say it's rubbish, but when you don't have any past LIVE games to compare it to and judge it by it's own merits, it's got some things it does really well and some things that it still trips over (namely rebounding, defense pressure and passing). One thing that really bugs me is the ability to apply defensive pressure to the ball handler.

I should be able to body up a ball handler -- it is up to the CPU AI to blow past me if I do. In the demo, if I move towards the ball handler there is seldom any contact that my player initiates -- I simply go out of position and get beat.

The honest truth is that the offensive game in NBA live takes some getting used to but is a fun thing to play once you understand the options available to you, but the defensive game is simply about "staying in front of your man" -- and although this is about as "basketball 101" as you can be in a video game, it's simply bland and boring. The funny thing is, I tried to follow those rules today in my demo game and Orlando proceeded to shoot 16/20 and win by 16. I guess it's a "screw defense" philosophy.

I'm all for choosing whatever game suits you and I totally respect the people who genuinely think that LIVE is the best thing since sliced bread, but a lot of you need to take a step back, relax and judge all games just as fairly as you judge LIVE -- and honestly, you can't judge a game until it has released some form of a demo...

There is no true winner in your eyes until October 6th and that goes both ways.

I wasn't planning on getting it and the demo didn't change my mind.
