Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
I guess me and Stumbleweed are on the same page b/c it does happen a lil to often. Im not talking about when you are driving the lane...i can understand that but it's almost like the players just don't know how to control the ball when getting close to the paint and i know for a fact that most nba players don't just lose the ball when they are close or in the paint.Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
I'm sure I'll appreciate all those handling turnovers when playing a cheeser online, but I can see that I'll be doing some slider tweaks if it's like this in the retail. The intent is good, I just think it could've been handled better, primarily by forcing them to pick up their dribble, which I haven't even seen once actually unless it was intentional (pumpfake, in the post, etc.).Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
What's your point? I already told you that there are plenty of clips showing Ron doing this to better defenders. If you know his game, you can't really believe that he can only do crossovers around Drew Gooden types.
Really? No issue? Even when you're trying to post up, nudging the stick forward (and not posting up) and just lose the ball (this happens to me a lot with Ron, Gasol, and Lewis)? It's not all just driving from the 3PT line that causes these turnovers.. they just happen way too often when a picked up dribble should be the result 75% of the time.
The defender isn't even doing anything, they just stand in front of you and the contact is created and the ball flies out. If they were swiping or something or timed it correctly then yeah, but it just pops out, even with good ball-handlers.Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
I'm had good success with him in the post/elbow area shooting fades, hitting corner and wing threes, and bulling to the basket now and then. Seems like he will power the shot up through defenders if you get a contact animation in the paint. It's not as good as Kobe, but I have had some sequences where I thought, "Wow, that was a Ron-Ron drive".. he jams his shoulder into the guy and lays it in with his off-hand.
But yeah, his handle is way underrated.. he gets stripped by Pietrus way too easily.
He's the only player I had the issue with. I've had good success mirroring everyone else's game in the demo.Comment

I have no issues except..
...that right there. Posting up on a mismatch is tough because the smaller player can just take the ball while I'm trying to activate the post up animation. And we all know that if Jameer switched onto Kobe, Bean would walk him right into the post. That has nothing to do with forcing the issue into the paint, and a steal shouldn't even be on the table in that situation.#SimnationComment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
Sometimes it happens a lot in my games, but I lose the ball like twice a game when posting up.... Sorry to say i also played a few games just for fun with the (HANDS IN THE POST ) all the way down and still lost the ball a lot....... although i was playing wreckless in the paint. I can see a patch for this if ea have not fixed this already...... hopefully.Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
I'm happy for you, but that doesn't change the fact that the issue has nothing to do with dribbling in the lane. We're not talking about a involving a size up or the Right Stick. But this is a separate issue, having nothing to do with Ron. They're already putting in the manual post up, so problem solved on that front.Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
I agree with the premise of this thread, but you are overrating Ron Artest's handles. When he is mismatched against a slower player he has enough handles to get by, but for the past few years he's become more of a spot shooter off assists and a chucker.
He takes jumpers way more than he attacks the rim. He has bulked up a lot from his Pacer days when he was more versatile offensively. He's gotten a lot slower. Offensively and defensively, that's why Battier was a better option for Houston guarding Kobe when a few years ago it would have been Artest no question.
This is one of the reasons I'm hopeful synergy and 82games can bring realism to nba games. People have misconceptions about some of these player and if the tendencies / stats are impartial and unadjusted by the gaming company they will not lie.Last edited by oOausarOo; 09-15-2009, 09:46 PM.Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
Ok.
First off, I emphasized that I wasn't talking about Ron yanking people out of their shoes, and I tried to make it clear that I wasn't talking about foot speed when I said "uses his strength" and "bully-ball" style of penetration. I even posted that there was ample footage available to the casual fan who doubts Artest's handle(not quickness, but his ability to dribble the ball).
But since none of that got through. Here are some vids of the past two years.

Only bigger slower players, eh? Is Ariza bigger and slower than Ron?
Speaking of "bigger and slower" players. Watch Ron beat up Steve Blake at 2:40 and Kirilenko(my god) at 3:18 here:

And throughout all of the clips, Ron displays an obvious deftness with the ball that should make it clear that Pietrus can't just sit there and strip him on a consistent basis.
Not really related, but you know, since I'm on Youtube...Comment

Re: Artest: How are you guys doing with him?
Artest is fine IMO. He's good off dribble. Mid to low post. Spot up. Use as screener. I play well w/ him. Banged Pietrus up in the lane. Pietrus is a good defender tho. U cant expect to dominate him so easily. Also, its only 8 minutes. Its hard to get a good feel on how u can be effective as it is.Comment
