    Agreed with Born 100%.

Ray, I tried your complaint about being able to drive into the paint area, stop, and then quickly shoot a fade (not a stepback)... did it first try and several more times after that.. It's all about letting off the LS before shooting and then adding the subtle fade while you're shooting. I even stuck a few off the glass on command from the elbow. I really don't know what your beef is with the controls... they're amazing IMO when you know what you're doing. Literally my only problem is the lack of a backdown button, which apparently will be getting patched... otherwise, the controls are brilliant and work great.

I also agree that the momentum-based shot system is more realistic than having a two-button system where you can stop on a dime and shoot a jumper even if you're turboing into the paint. Now if you have too much speed and don't let off the LS, you'll keep going towards the basket as you should. You have to consciously stop/slow way down then decide what kind of shot you want to do... much more organix system than before. There's nothing in the basketball videogaming world that feels better than having some speed coming off a screen and shooting a drifting shot in this game.. just beautiful.

And that's the problem here. The controls are new but people want instant gratification and if they can't pick up the controls 100% after a few games of the demo they make posts like this.

I agree totally...one thing that stuck out in the demo is the flow of the game as you transitioned from dribble to shot ... which was a issue before... thats something I am sure Mike worked on was the small transition animations which make the game feel more authentic

Putting all of the control elements together the last few times I've played has made the game so awesome. Seriously, anyone writing the game off due to controls or even animations needs to just spend more time with it and really remember everything you've learned from Da Czar's vids and the blog posts as well as just thinking "basketball" instead of "videogame". I've been using the off-ball control, calling picks for myself, catching lobs with Dwight.. so awesome and seamless.

Ran a gorgeous fast break with Freestyle passing where I got it from Pietrus to Nelson, to a trailing Carter (pitched it over his shoulder one-handed) in like 2 seconds for a sick reverse.. felt so right. I've even been getting some breaks off of missed shots, which I can't remember happening in many games unless you totally forced it and cherry-picked, etc. I saw VC running on the wing with Kobe backpeddaling just a little bit in front of him, hit him with the pass in stride, and he was able to get an easy dunk because Kobe was backpeddling and couldn't recover quickly enough since VC had a head of steam.

            Wait, is that true?

If so, we got the best controls ever.

When you understand all the posibilities with the controls you can do some ridiculous stuff.

when in doubt...it's the game's fault.

the controls take some getting used to (especially the icon passing), but after learning how to play the game (gasp!), they're fine.

                  What's wrong with icon passing?

It works exactly the same as icon passing always has. You press a button, icons pop up, and you select the recipient of your pass.

I assume some people are accidentally using the off-ball control so when they press the icon too long and the pass isn't made they get confused and start cursing at their TV.

Yeah Even though I know about it I was doing that too but not cursing at the tv, I just didnt realize what was going on, but thats exactly whats happening.

It pays to watch that Mike Wang video again guys...both of them really as a reminder. Its the main reason people were excited about the game in the first place really moreso than any kind of hype

^ Mos def, it will help most people. I've got the controls down for the most part but I'll prob watch the vids again just in case something slipped through the cracks.

Well people are accidentally engaging off-ball control and have also complained that icon passing is too slow. I can see what they're saying about the slow part (the passes often seem more non-chalant than they should be), but I haven't found that it's making the game difficult or anything like that.

Its not Stumble, but to be honest with you that left stick passing is awesome, its hard not to use it to be honest with you.

The more I get used to the controls and the how the defense plays (which is realistically that is) I use icon passing less and less and just go with freestyle passing.

Think about it, in most cases unless it's a skip pass you shouldn't need icon passing/be throwing the ball across court or through a crowd of players because IRL it wouldn't get to it's intended recipient. If a teammate is in position to receive a realistic pass then you should (and can in almost every case I've noticed) be able to hit your man with freestyle passing.

Agreed man... people getting upset over cross court passes are ignoring basic fundamental passing... thats told to you to not do because the chances of them getting picked off is high. You should never expose the ball like that.
