    Re: Shot Timing

    I said this in a another forum about the shot timing<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>
    <o> </o>
But the one thing I didn't like about Live after playing about 20 game (2 quarters). Was that Kobe and Derek Fisher did not miss. No it wasn’t my defense. What I’m trying to say. Is that you should be able to miss wide open shots. But if your open its going down in Live. You see 2k has system that is something like 1%...25%...50%...70%..95%...70%...50%...25%...1% And when I say this I’m talking about releases. 95% would be a perfect release. And everything to the left is early release. And everything to the right of 95% is a late release. I’m just guessing here. But in Live it seems to be a 1%...50%...99%...50%...1% when I’m open its going down. I feel it shouldn’t be like that. I’ve missed with players wide open….because I knowing messed up the release. The ball is always all net or miss. It’s never in between. And yes I know its just a early demo of the game. I just hope the actually game is not like this.<o></o>

I've missed more then a few open shots. Especially behind the 3 point line.

I have no idea why the dev team decided to take out the shot timing meter. At least w/ that in place I knew what the best release was. Now I'm just confused because I can make shots with both long and short releases.

I hate not knowing because then I'm just helpless when I have to shoot open jumpshots Lol.

What he said. At least with Artest and Kobe, there is a very slight hitch that acts as a visual cue. If you get that down, you literally will never miss an open shot. In Kobe's case, you won't miss almost any shot I've been busting poor Vince with step backs SO BAD on Superstar.

Gasol's is kinda fast. Maybe a couple frames after his hand gets under the ball. Rashard has a big hitch, and it is pretty soon after you press the button.

If you're trying to figure out anyone's release. Hold the button for the entire duration of the shot, then quicken your release from there, looking for the hitch in the animation if there is one.

No you didn’t get my point I was trying to get across. Yes you do miss wide open shots. To me if feels like they is very little margin for error. That’s why I posted the scale I thought/feel like to me. And I played the game on superstar. I hate comparing it to 2k all the time. But in 2k’s hall of fame mode. It seem like you can miss wide open shots. But because when your wide open and lets say you missed up the release just a little. You can see that you messed up because the ball will rattle into the rim. In Live it seems like its slash or crash. Not thing to indicate that you might have gotten your shot contest slighty or you might messed up your release. Know what I mean?ffice:office" /><O></O>

Ok, I have to admit that I probably didn't read your first post entirely. I see what you mean though, I haven't really noticed or paid attention to that kind of stuff. Next time I play the demo I'll definitely be looking at it a little bit closer.
              Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Mama always said “Read before you write”….Or did she mean think before you speak?....lol Na jk man.

But check it out. I ran a few practice sessions and have played more than 20 games now. That was one of the first things I notice.
                <O</O<O</O
But I also have a question for everyone. How do you feel about the timing for shooting period? It seems like they is a set amount release time for everyone. I’ve only played the demo. So I really can’t say the game will be like this. It feels as though everyone has the same timing. 2k seems to have a very wide scale in timing. From as fast as Shawn Marion/Ray Allen (CRD sig shot) to as slow/long/late Tim Duncan/LeBron releases. In Live I don’t get that feeling.
                <O</O<O</O
Anyone else get that vibe? Or do you think they should be a set time for releases or that wide range like 2k has it?<O</O

                  Re: Shot Timing

There should be no shot meter or notification in the game. You should just have to learn each players individual shot on your own.

                    Re: Shot Timing

Lol if they don't have a shot meter then there needs to be some type of visual cue imo. Shooting a jumpshot should never be a guessing game like Live 10 can be to me.

I'm okay w/ learning shots if I have something I can use to see if I have released the shot right. Before I read this thread I felt like I was not able to consistently shoot well because I had to nothing to gauge myself on.

Now with the tips provided here I at least have something to look for. In real life I can see why I missed a shot and the same should hold true in a game at least imo that is.

How do you not get that feeling in live when you haven't played w/ any other teams except for la and magic.

Yes I haven’t played with any of the other teams. Derek Fisher release is just like Kobe release. Dwight Howard (standing jump shot) release is as late as Lebron. Every release doesn’t have its own timing. You basically keep this rule in your head. "When in doubt hold it a little longer". Every player you shoot with. You can feel there is a difference in timing in 2k. Do you feel a difference shooting between J. Nelson, Vince Carter and R. Lewis in Live Demo?

I think the visual cue is: your player is about to land.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
