Thanks, econ. Most of my buddies think I'm Benedict Arnold, so I wont have any Live competition. Hopefully I can hook up with a good group from OS to run with on 360.

Seems like a bunch of people are getting Live or both games this year. I was worried about that myself since my main group of simheads are all 2K guys... but even a few of them are planning to switch or at least will spend a good amount of time with Live. We should definitely be able to get some nice OTP games in and will be able to put together a league too.

Follow-up on the leagues... they don't have any web support per iminurbase, but Adidas Live Run does. So they have to be administered via the console... just a minor annoyance, but worth mentioning.

I tried doing the two basketball game thing last year, but it didn't last.
I am doing the one basketball game thing this year.
I'm in this forum, so you know which one it is.

It'll be a little tougher this year... my 2K skills will probably take a nosedive since I'll be spending most of my time with Live... The whole LT icon passing thing is what gets me with the controls going between the two games. I keep calling quick plays in Live trying to icon pass and pointlessly holding LT and then shooting by accident in 2K10 trying to Freestyle pass. Gonna be rough to keep the controls separate, but I think it'll be worth the brain drain to have 2 nice games to play until the next crop come out.

At least shoot is moved to X now so that button is the same.. that killed me last year going between the two. I've found myself shooting with the button now in 2K most of the time just to help keep things straight in my head... shot stick for drives.

I plan on getting 2K as well but I think I'm gonna try and catch it during a Black Friday or Christmas sale.

Online leagues.......

The thing I do not like about Live's online leagues is the stat tracking within the league. They track the team's league stats, but no individual stats. What I mean by this is if I'm 10 games into our online league, I'd love to be able to see how many pts and rebounds Kevin Garnett is averaging compared to all other players in the league.....That's why with Live, unlike 2K10, it's almost necessary to play your league through Leaguedaddy.com or the like...

I'm getting both also so I'm down I'll get some run with you fellow OSers. Will have Live tonight and 2k at some point but, if Live is what everyone is saying it is. Well it may be the only bball game spinning in the 360... Maybe we can get some Live Run tonight. I know it's Friday but, I got a fiance so my going out time has stopped. :wink:

You only have a weekend and 1 day left of waiting! Just go chill on the weekend go out, then Monday back to work or class, and then bang it's Tuesday. haha

That's how I felt all day at work. I got the last night that Live was coming in this morning but, I had to work. I was like a crack head all day.

Czar and gentlemen who have the game thus far......(just received my UPS copy and it's sitting on my desk until after work!!!)

I know the initial impressions were strong and have somewhat stayed steady....Simple question though, is the game still fun and fresh each and every time you boot the 360 up??? I already have 2K10, and the gameplay has already become stale and redundant for me....

Great question and I'm not certain i have played long enough to answer definitively but I think I have played the longest including my time at ea.

With that said I would say it depends on why you play basketball videogames. While I have said all along that live is a game to be played and not to be watched. Live's foundation is not based on animations.

So if you a guy who wants to see the game animate and keep showing you different stuff and want to see everything "look" right. Then maybe live won't hold court for you after you have seen it.

Do you get tired of seeing stockton and malone run the pick and roll ? There are only a few possibilites that CAN happen each time they run it right ? But the beauty is that they have to make the right decision each time against opponents that will try different things to stop them.. That is kind of how live is. Since its built on basketball fundamentals (not perfect) if you really love the game and the science of the game you will not tire of it.

So for me its the opposite. The more I play the more I am able to see these small adjustments the cpu is making. the more I appreciate the game. It stays as fresh as watching your favorite nba team do it for 82 games. You know what they are going to try to do right ? You have seen all your star players moves and dunks but you still get excited when it happens.

That is a very exciting thing to me. Why ? cause they can always add animations but the animations are NOT the foundation. It's like Pared was saying to us about those of us who like the defense this year will really love it once they flesh it out with more options for us (our argument was that its just fine now).

Sounds great... Even with the demo and its 2 4-minute quarters I thought I was seeing that stuff... good to know that I wasn't seeing things. I'd start killing it with Kobe nailing jumpers and they'd close up on him, I'd run the pick and pop with 'Shard and they started sticking with him closer on the pick instead of worrying about Jameer (so then I'd drive and take it to the hole). Thought I was seeing things or was in Honeymoon mode with the game and pulling that out of nowhere, but it's good to hear that same kind of dynamic is in the final.

Can't wait for some epic 12 minute games against users and the CPU... Finals atmosphere.. so awesome.

Just picked up my copy and I'm installing to the HDD. Has anyone played online or is that not allowed. I don't want to play vs. games online yet but, I'd like to check out Live Run with some other OSers.
