I am not talking about bugs like 2k is filled with like framerate and other bugs and online play

but the core mechanics of simple basketball are there for 2k like simple realistic rebounding and animations are superb

2k does not scrip the stats like live does in order to get what some called a sim game out of the box..that is a joke

all the cpu does is slash to the basket and throw up off balance shots that go in about 40% of the time to give the stats the realistic 40% shooting percentages

animations are horrible for the most part.

2k has bugs and is true and is farrrr from perfect

but the mechanics are there and the patch will make that the overwhelming better game.

have you see the blocks in live...they look like an over the top nba jam block where it seems the defender is doing a fatality to the offensive player

many times there is a block and the defenders hand was nowhere near the ball

or how the cpu seems to be able to grab boards and live does not give the user the simple mechanics of a box out button....come on

Finally won my first game on all-star even though it was me (USA) vs. Turkey. It was like by 23 points.

Saying either game is 'broken' or 'unplayable' this year screams fanboy as both are not perfect but definitely offer the user a great choice.

I am (finally) really get the hang of playing some perimeter D in this game...pretty rewarding feeling. I wish it felt a bit 'tighter', sometimes i feel like i am sliding all over the place...but it's fun trying to stay in front of an explosive guard / watching the feet / position etc.

Call me silly, but I'd like some diverse animations, a legitimate transition game, signature moves etc. I'd like Luke Ridnour to not play like he's CP3. I 'd like to have two cpu defenders move for a rebound and have it not look like synchronized swimming(you know where one guy jumps for a rebound, one or two other guys around him jump the exact same angle the exact same distance). I'd like the cpu to call full timeouts, not just 20 second ones.

Stop telling people that their issues with the game are in their head. It's insulting, disrespectful and not what I expect and demand from the OS community

Yeah it does get frustrating when they do nothing and just stand there. It's like they want us to control the defender guarding the person with the ball so they punish us by making the our defenders dumb.

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

The lack of animations is so frustrating to see at times because of how great this game's controls. Many times in a game you will be forced into a tough shot or give up one on D because the game doesn't have enough animations to cover that specific situation. It's so glaring this year it can almost ruin the game sometimes.

Things like TJ Ford being able to force Garnett into a tough shot in the paint should never happen. Or CP3 going full speed on the break only to be stopped completely because a defender was able to "cut him off." All of my issues are due to anims hopefully the patch will make some improvements to the way everything triggers.

As of right now a lot shots in the paint, rebounds, fastbreaks etc. just aren't triggered correctly so if the patch can improve this it will go a long way in helping the game be less frustrating.

Hopefully next year anims are a huge focus for EA because they have the best controls so far. You can control every aspect of your game from cuts to layups. Once Live reaches 2K's status in the anims department its going to blow people's minds.

I'm content to have less animations because it runs the risk of using 'canimations' like 2K does. The game flows freely and I would hate for it to be over-animated.

The over animation issue is really a product of bad controls imo. It only happens because the animations control the player.

I think what the Live team is establishing is the user controls the animations. By that I mean that the devs are working toward giving the user control over every action they make.

So whether your passing the ball, shooting, rebounding you control everything, none of it is animation driven. If you want to spin by a guy then euro step away from the help defense to get a bucket you can.

That's the difference between Live and other games before it you have to practically do everything yourself in order to just do basic things like shooting a lay up.

Its no more you just get your players into a certain spot and an animation just triggers. Now you have to control that whole play yourself.

You are the highlight reel now, your no longer just a guy playing a video game you're that NBA player now. Everything they can do you can do in your game.

That's why more animations are needed because as they expand players will feel even more different. So a guy like Shaq may have his own set of animations that make him control much differently then lets say Al Jefferson.

So then at that point it will no longer just be wow what I'm playing looks exactly like the NBA. It will be I am Kobe I'm posting up and fading away on guys. Or I'm Lebron coming down the lane dunking on defenders.

The Live team is in position to deliver the ultimate gaming experience, and that is to basically to switch bodies w/ our favorite player and play ball as them.

If you thought the difference between Wade and a player like Diaw was huge now wait until more anims are added. I know you can count times where you were like that guy wouldn't have been able to stop Wade irl.

Well as more anims are added those things will become less of a problem because the game will have more things to work w/ in those situations.

I could go on and on about this but I'm sure you get my point by now. But its like I said in my post once EA reaches 2K's level of anims its going to blow people's minds.

A lot of people don't really see what the dev team is establishing here in Live 10 but once it happens trust me man its going to be beautiful thing.

Definetly agree with the WOW factor. There is nothing amazing i've seen. Just based on a pure fundemental standpoint it does very well but nothing great overall or something that makes me go WOW did that just happen.

As for the Bigs it really comes down to either taking away their ability to handle the ball off the dribble or just kinda accept it. I'm really dissapointed that they would even make most of them as agile and fluid dribbling the ball in this game.

That's the kinda thing that makes you scratch your head and ask did their game testers decide it was cool for big guys to handle the rock this easily or did they just simply miss it.........

I'd like to see them put in the patch a new animation where the Big's who can't dribble somehow loose the ball if they try to do shiiit like crossovers or behind the back dribbles. Their turnover ratio should be really high if they do things they aren't skillful or physically capable of doing.
