Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

Man I have so much fun with this game online or hum v hum, it's amazingly fun and you can crush cheesers.

I just beat some kid (Knicks v Celtics at MSG) in double OT, 87-81. It was the best human vs human game I've had in any sports game, just ridiculous. The back and forth flow was so real, nothing felt cheap.

He had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, Ray Ray was taking it out on the side with 2 seconds left and I knew he was going to Pierce. So I took control of Chandler who was on Ray and as soon as the pass left Ray's hand I went over to help on Pierce who attempted a near-side elbow jumper. I got there just in time and blocked it from behind to send the game into OT.

Then in OT it was almost a carbon copy, he tried a drive-n-dish to Ray Ray in the corner but I saw it coming and blocked it with Gallinari.

I was down 81-80 before going on an 8-0 run to end it. Gallo was a damn stud, 8-12 from down town en route to to 38 points with him. He was animal, the other dude full court pressed the entire game and Gallo was open all the time as a result.

I went small the whole game, Lee/Harrington/Gallo/Chandler/Nate and doubled off Rondo with Nate to help in the post. Worked well enough as I got the win though KG had 20/10.

The kid also was helpless against Power 5 High, I abused. After getting Nate and Gallo going on the drive-draw-dish aspect of the play my opponent finally started manually controlling Rondo to try and cheat on the screen at the top of the key. I started refusing the screen and burried one three with Nate and the other time just drove right to the hoop since he was cheating with Rondo so badly and the lane was wide open..

Nate had 18 and 9 to help. Chandler was ice cold, 1-6 from deep and 2-10 from the field for 6 points. Harrington shot poorly too, good thing Danilo was on fire.

I saved a ton of replays from the game, I'm gonna make a nice mix of Danilo going off.

I think I got what I want to say now.
This is a basketball game, not a run down the court and put the ball in the net game as basketball games have been in the past.

Funny, this is exactly how it feels to me. Up and down the court, run and gun, arcade style basketball. At least when playing the CPU. After playing a few games it feels scripted as in I know what the CPU will do before I see it, and still I cannot stop the driving to the basket.
Maybe I'm not that good in this game, but after being disappointed by the crappy Dynasty mode, I'm now disappointed by the gameplay vs the CPU too (since I've been playing mostly offline).
Too many generic animations, crazy baskets and no contact fouls. Too many animations where you know what's going to happen but can't stop it. Not to mention the times when you have to imagine why the ball went that way since the animations are at least awkward.
And I still can't understand what's so great about the dribbling. Ok, there's a magic button that does tricks and plays nice animations. And you do more tricks by moving the right stick. So? Does this explain why the centers can bring the ball down court at full speed, drive the basket and get fouled through a scripted animation that plays at least 5 times every quarter??
