The manager I usually deal with at my GS is a really cool guy. He's 2k all the way, but we are all smiles on our back and forth about 2k/Live debates, and sports in general.

If I got that kind of treatment (IF this is a true story that was posted) I'd be writing complaint letters to corporate and not bothering with that location anymore.

I have been in customer service since 1984, even before I finished high school. NEVER insult a customer's choice/purchase. If I know they are buying something of lesser quality, I might ask a polite question or two to make sure they are really getting what they want, but would never say, "Don't buy this. It's crap." or anything of the sort.

Maybe the workers had a private pool and the guy who sold you the game was on the 2K side? Trying to make a little money on the side.. LOL!

It happens more than you think. One of my boys over heard a Best Buy employe straight up lie about the 360/PS3 to a mother. He told her that the 360 was the better console because it had blu-ray.

I am so glad we have a choice the clerk is clearly out of line both games deserve
everyone just go buy the game you prefer based on your own reasons play the heck out of it and we'll toast

however same thing happend to me the other day in a Gamestop as well. I went in to get FIFA 10 before release and the dude was like bitching about the game to his friend who apparently played the game in the store.

I was listening to them for a couple of minutes and then went to the counter and asked the dude: "Hey, do you got the game that sucks *** for me? It would make my day?"

Was funny as heck. However, in his defense I got to say that he, at least is an experienced FIFA player and played FIFA 10 as well.

Like I said, heck it happened last year with NBA Live 09, but the situation last year was way different, the man just voiced his opinions and he said he thought 2K was better and I totally respected that, he didn't come at me hard or even asked people around the store. I've never seen someone try to hard to get me to buy 2K10, like he looked at me in disbelief when I asked him for Live 10, the way he act I was seriously considering almost believing him about not getting it, thank God I didn't, this game is good.

The best part was when he said "Here goes your game your going to hate" like as If I spent my money for something worthless, a slap to my face LOL. Whatever though, it happens.

Wow that's snitching to the 10th power......What is the Live Producer going to do......punish the employee now? You have shamed the Cavs nation, and should have your fan rights taken away....lol.

It's funny cuz 5 years ago the exact opposite happened when 2k was gaining traction

Had basically the same thing with my GameStop with Live. Lead guy was did the 2k song and dance. Then he was like "Oh yeah, you're always EA." (I'm in there a bit ) So then I then reminded him how I've bought 2k B-Ball for the last 5 years. CHoops and NBA. I buy Madden and Fifa from EA. That's it. It's funny, you don't roll with the collective mindset, you're a fanboy. Or a fool wasting money. I like finding that a game like this or Fifa that blows up huge. This game will compete post-patch. And only grow over the next two titles. Glad that I didn't listen to the "professionals." I'd be ready to throw my controller though the screen again as the framerate sent me into a seizure for the second year in a row.

On a side note, funny how the framerate didn't get mentioned in a lot of reviews. Kinda a big deal..... Gotta love marketing dollars! Blind eyes abound!

Just my two cents....How many guys go into a video game store and ask the clerks if the game they are looking for is any good? I know I've done it before. Maybe they're just feel obligated to giving advice on games...Especially one that's had a such a bad track record. Besides, it's only the sales clerks opinion.

Fair point. I just don't think they should offer unsolicited advice. How do they know that the person hasn't done his/her homework and are certain of the game they want?

They had Live 10 with the old games here. I couldn't find it and had to ask where it was. They fixed it though. (Wasn't at Gamestop obviously.)

My EB Games clerk is always giving recommendations.
Mind you, he didn't tell me Live sucks.

Yeah, the general public tend to be a bit behind what's actually going on. It'll take time "2k is king, Live sucks" perception to go away.

My Game clerk raised an eyebrow when I put a pre-order down for Live.
"Don't you mean 2K?"
I kindly informed him that I'd done my research. Live's got game this year.

i was in philly on business and i had a similar experience at a gamestop. i hate that store.

who tf cares what game i get? my reasons are mine...i still play madden on ps2 by the way...i buy it on ps3 every year but i always wind up playing on ps2.

Its funny that in the last gen, the same thing happened to me. The only difference is I was buying 2k and they were forcing me to buy live. I guess this is a good sign for live cause whenever a game is truly sim, less people want the game.

When 2k was way better than live(last gen) almost nobody wanted the game. I guess live is suffering the same fate as last gen 2k.

This has also happened to me in the past. In 2004 I went in to buy "ESPN Baseball" and the clerk at Gamestop pressed me with "Are you sure you want this one? It sucks, you should by ________."

Then last week I went into buy a 2nd controller and this is the exchange.

"Hi, I'd just like an Xbox controller, white."

Him: "We have a ton of used ones bro."

"No thanks."

Him: "I mean, look at these - they're brand new, see?"

"I'm good."

Him: "You're good?"

"Please just give me the new one and I'll be out of here."

Him: "Wow, you sure don't wanna save 10 bux do you bro?"

Me: silence....
