Re: Official Nba Live 11 Wish List

    1. Procedural Awareness - We've seen and heard what EA sais procedural awareness should look and feel like but the implementation of it in its games has not been good enough...Lets really see it next year...No more no look steals of passes.

    2. Defense - Ok the offense has almost every weapon imaginable from the perimeter...Lets have some defensive adjustments that make the game a bit more of a chess match...In general I want to be able to determine if my players "deny the post or other passes" or over play certain things.

Also an overhaul on HUSTLE PLAY animations. they seem half done this year...Sometimes they hustle and sometimes they stand there and do nothing. There should be more loose ball animations and hustle play animations that happen on a consistent basis

    3. Offense - More Post moves and most importantly every player in the game should not be able to perform the same post animations. I want there to be a clear and distinct difference from the top Post Player in the game to the less skilled post player.

Ball Rim Interaction - While pretty darn good this year I'd like to see more variety as opposed to the excessive SWISHES

As you can see my areas of focus are GAME PLAY related...lets address game play 1st please

Finally...we need a comprehensive LEAGUE feature that allows LIVE fans to start leagues that have web support and allow us to run a season with authentic real conferences, trades etc. Also the league should allow for a FLEXIBLE Schedule allowing the League administrator to allow games to be played in any order at anytime. FLEXIBLE Scheduling is the key to all league features

        NBA LIVE 11 Wishlist

        1. Improved Dynasty - biggest weakness of the game

        • No more of the goofy looking pre-made rookies
        • Simulation Stats need to be fixed (too many games in the 40's & 50's, no players above 26ppg ever, too many 8 & 7 Seeds winning in the playoffs)
        • Highlight Show/Sports Center/Playoff Preview
        • More contract options
        • Progression needs work - too many of the young guys in the league only increasing a point or 2 over a 4 or 5 season spand
        • 3 Team Trades!!
        • Better Championship Celebration
        • CPU Trade logic needs serious work (Jermaine O'Neal for Kobe in the first year of dynasty...WTF)
        • Draft Coverage/Presentation
        • Hire/Fire Staff
        • Import Draft Classes
        • Shoe colors change when players switch teams
        • Simplify Menus

        2. ESPN/TNT Broadcast Integration
        • Get rid of Steve Kerr

        3. Option to turn off "The Hangar"

Re: Official Nba Live 11 Wish List

This the first Live game I've bought since the PS1 days and overall I think its really really good. The gameplay is realistic and there is a lot to build on here over future releases.

For Live 11 these are the main things I want to see..

                Gameplay:

Live 10 is a phenomenal improvement over Live 09 in terms of gameplay. I don't think a great deal should be changed.. the game is realistic but also is a lot of fun. I wouldn't expect any massive step forwards in gameplay next year because there really doesn't need to be this time.

That said, there are a few things that I'd like to see addressed:

                • Rebounding, improve the accuracy and responsiveness.. get rid of the glitches which can be annoying. Improve the animations and feel, some attention should be given to boxing out and the feeling of weight. More detailed interaction between players battling for position in the post to determine who's got position for the board. Better AI is needed in this area.

                • Improve the post game. It is quite easy to use as it currently stands which is a good thing, but like rebounding there needs to be a bit more of a feeling of weight and interaction between your man and opposing players. Some signature post up shots would be nice.

                • Improve the blocks, this may just come down to better animations but it could be more responsive. The collision detection needs to be improved a bit as sometimes I'll see someones shot get blocked and the blocker not really getting near the ball and just going into the rigid block animation.

                • Have a bigger differentiation in speed between players. This isn't that much of a problem currently but I'd prefer Derrick Rose to be just outrageously quick with the ball rather than pretty quick compared to most others. The top ball handing guards should have their response to the right stick sped up a bit so they can pull off the insanely quick cross overs and dribble moves.

                • A realistic rotation system based on real stats from the NBA. Player fatigue and minutes should be scaled to the number of minutes the user sets for their game unless they choose to turn this off. The CPU should make substitutions based on the real teams rotation.

                Graphics and Presentation:

While good the graphics are one of the main areas I'd like to see improved in Live 11.

                • Animations, update and get rid of all the elastic, rubber man stuff. Continue to make the animations more life like and get rid of the ones that are old and unrealistic.

                • Improve the detail of the game from far out. When the camera zooms in after a foul the lower res. character models can look quite bad. Push the PS3 and 360 and get make another step forward.

                • Player likenesses are good in Live 10 for the most part. Some of the lesser known players though are not very good.. the stars look great now but that attention to detail needs to be applied to every player on every team.

                • Make a lot more use of the ESPN licence in the actual game. More authentic look for pre, during and post game overlays and some more "bells and whistles".

                Modes:

Now that the gameplay is good, the features of the game should be brought up to standard. The Dynasty mode should be No1 priority and so this list is going to be devoted mostly to this.

                **** Dynasty Mode ****
                • The mode needs an overhaul and the basics need to be put in place so it can be developed over the next however many installments.

                • Realistic sim of the NBA season.
                • Get the non human teams games to sim realistically with star players getting the correct minutes and stats.
                • Add a new rotation system so you can set minutes and roles for all your players. The CPU coach should then manage the in game substitutions according to this.
                • After a trade, injury, return from injury.. or anything else, the rotation should be updated realistically. The CPU teams should manage their rotations realistically too.
                • Players should have a primary and secondary position so minutes can be spread intelligently.
                • Implement realistic trade logic, no more Lebron getting bounced around the league in ridiculous CPU trades. CPU trades should always make sense in terms of talent and/or finances.. based on where that team currently stands.

If these basic parts of the Dynasty mode are nailed then its immediately very playable, the mode can then be developed and expanded from here.

                • One more dynasty (or other mode) thing. How about at the end of the season, have some DLC with next years rookie class made available for download and use in Dynasty. It would be a nice addition to be able to do the actual 2010 NBA draft at the end of your first Dynasty season.

                That is all..

                ..... for now.

Agree with what a lot has been said so far. But for me online co-op and online Dynasty/season would be huge. Every FPS has online co-op but very few sports games. Doesnt make sense, finally NBA2K10 and Madden10 have implemented this.

So online co-op and online dynasty are my two big ones as well as bringing back Be A Pro like in FIFA10.

Re: Official Nba Live 11 Wish List

Warning to mods: I am going to compare 2k and Live here, but I am simply comparing to make my point and show what I'm talking about.

I've been playing Live and there are some problems related to the passing. There is something simple that 2k does with their passing that makes the passing much smoother and it makes a ton of sense how 2k's passing system works. I'm actually very surprised Live still does not do this, because 2k has been doing it since at least 2k6.

                          Here it is:

1.) In 2k, when you pass to a player, that receiving player will automatically move a few steps in a direction in order to get better position to receive the ball. He kind of "steps out" and "comes to the ball." 2k's pass receivers have a certain automatic "awareness" of passing angles so that they will automatically get into a better passing angle to receive the ball.

In Live, on the other hand, the receivers will just stand completely still and won't "come to the ball" or move to create the best passing angle. This results in the CPU getting tons of steals.

2.) Another problem in Live - when a teammate is cutting in a certain direction, when you pass to him, he will stop cutting when he receives the ball. This completely defeats the purpose of passing to a cutting player. If a player is cutting to the hoop, you want him to keep cutting towards the hoop after he catches the pass, so that he can go to the hoop and score...if he stops his cut after catching the ball, the defenders just catch up to him and the scoring opportunity is ruined. As a default, the players should be programmed to continue running in that direction after they catch a pass while cutting. There is never a situation where you would want a player to stop cutting after catching the pass, so just make it automatic for him to continue running for at least 2 or 3 steps.

3.) Do Icon Lead Passing (offball receiver control) like 2k. I like how 2k does their lead passing, because it is very quick. If you move the stick just slightly, the receiver will make a strong, fast cut in that direction. Live's "offball receiver control" has a similar purpose, but it is much slower to react and the offball player is too sluggish in his movements - he doesn't cut and move fast enough for it to really work. Players controlled by "offball receiver control" should move with more urgency and explosiveness. As of now they move like they just popped a few Valium.

That is all for now, but I think it would be fairly simple to add these mechanics to Live.

Another problem - All of Live's passes are line drives, whereas 2k has a variety of passes (high lobs, low bounce passes, etcs) so that the pass is right for the situation. 2k kind of chooses the right pass for you so you're not always throwing line drive passes right into the defenders. 2k will try to throw the passes over the defenders or angle them to avoid the defenders.

There are times in Live when I have a guy open somewhere, but instead of making a high pass over the defense, my player will pass straight into the defender and it will get stolen or tipped.

2k's passes are kind of "auto smart" in that when you pass, the game chooses the right type of pass for the situation in order to avoid the defenders as much as possible.

I agree with this guy. What I've noticed in Live 10 is that sometimes the passing animation that is being used is not the right one for the right situation w/c results to a turnover.

Passing Improvements needed in Live 11:

                              - Add some new passing animations in Live 11 like the walk the dog passing & etc.

-Right and smart passing animations must be used in each situation to minimize turnovers.

-the ball receiver should position himself in the right position in order to receive the ball successfully & avoid a turnover while receiving the ball. Like he will box out, use his body or hand/s against the defender while receiving the pass from his teammate.

                              - If there's a late shot release in Live 10 why not also make/add a late pass release and a fake pass in Live 11. If you don't release the pass button your player will not pass & release the ball.

                              - the ability of the in bounder to move left and right by moving the right analog stick to any directions (i think) or make it automatic. This also happens in NBA. This is very useful especially when the defense is set to full court man 2 man and the defender is already right in front of the in bounder shading the in bounder.

                              - after the opponent made a shot your player will in bound the ball and then throw the ball to your pg (most of the time). here's the thing... in Live 10 your pg can still successfully receive the ball while running to the half court w/o looking to the ball. When the ball is near towards him he will suddenly look behind and receive the ball. Are u kidding me!? That's so unrealistic.

-improve the passing physics in Live 11. Right angles, altitudes, speed of passing (very useful while passing the ball to the player who will cut and drive to the lane) & etc.

This isn't always a good thing, look at the lead passing into the post in 2K10. I like Live's passing more than 2Ks right now, the animations for the receiver are actually better and you don't get all that overhead jump passing nonsense.

I do agree that some work should go into expanding the passing game.. but it should be up to the user to make smart passes, not the CPU automatically taking care of it. Live is a lot better than 2K when it comes to control over your players and it should stay that way.
