Re: NBA Live: Change the game (blog)

i think the game is great but that kind of blog rubs people the wrong way when there are so many crazy bugs in this game. it's like don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

i for one am just frustrated with the broken dynamic season, the crazy roster glitches, etc. in a game that i think is otherwise great.

Has it been typical for EA to be open and forthcoming with pre-release info and posting responses to you question about the Live series in the past?

That's not fair. I know you guys are bright. You have to believe there is something else behind.

Remember, you work for a company and you might have to do things you don't want to do. We don't know if this falls in that category.

Heck, no one even knows if it is in response to what Ronnie from 2k said. This could've been planned for quite a while. Either way, you guys shouldn't use your speculation as to why whatever happened transpired. Just observe it as a single act and respond as such.

Think how much stephenson and Beluba were around answering questions throughout the year. Can you throw all that good will out that quickly?

I guess it's up to you to decide.
Pared, I get what you're saying. But that's my point exactly, the developers started a precedent with all this "available from the early get go" stuff. They did a GREAT job of informing us pre release but they've disappeared post release. I get that some of that is to be expected, since they are working on next years title, but I don't think it's to much to expect them to stick around after release and address some of the issues with the game.

In any event, I've taken the thread off topic. I'll leave by saying IMO, they aren't doing themselves any favors by doing this. Yes, I buy both games, but I'm not a die hard Live fan. These type of actions might cause me to drop the title all together. I'll have to see how this years game patches up and plays. Maybe the casual gamers who hang out here pre release and then leave post release don't care, but I'm here all year checking in, and I do care. I still enjoy the game, I just wish some questions were answered more promptly and that some of the tougher questions guys ask around here would get some attention too, not just questions about player accessories, arenas and aliens. I'm out.

Sorry 23, but it's my right to reply, just as it's his right and yours.. I'm not being childish or saying anything insulting to anyone...I believe I'm aslo well within the TOS. If I'm not feel free to ban me, or more appropriately just politely ask me to stop replying. No need to tell me I don't know what's going on here. I think it's time for a break from this site and this game.

I can't change my game. EA doesn't make the game for the PC.

Hope that is more about the blog Pared.....

IMO, this thread is the reason why some developers don't interact with the community. Because once they come on everyone thinks they are owed something from them.
              <O
They're coming on here as a courtesy just to keep us updated and the minute they don't answer a question, they get bashed. "Oh, they're hiding and don't want to respond because they know they f'd up." and I could go on but, some of you know who I'm talking about. <O
              <O
It's a video game people. There's more important things going on in the world then who said what about who, I'm returning this game, blah, blah, blah. <O

IMO, this thread should get locked because some people just don't know how to act. <O

Hey, this post is a lot more fair than your previous ones. But being an informed gamer, and being here for a while, you have to know this is the de facto standard around here.

These teams hold a lot more meetings and spend less time near their PC's early on in a game production cycle, believe it or not. Plus, life is part of the problem too.

When I see some posts on here, if I were a developer, I wouldn't respond either. They can't win either way.

Alright, check this out guys... It's been brought to my attention that I may have been uniformed as far as why some of the developers haven't been around lately. It's not due to any ignorance on my own part, it's just not something that anyone who doesn't "know" some of these guys would be privy to the information. Having said that, I publicly apologize for jumping to conclusions and venting them in the "heat of the moment" manner in which I did. I let my frustrations get the best of me and I'm sorry for that.

Steph, my apologies to you. Take care.

I'm out.
No offense to some of the posters here but if i had to endure all of the garbage the Devs have have to deal with here pre release i would be taking a break from this forum too.

Oh and its much to expect them to stick around here at least IMO it is.

Listen, who really cares, it's like Pepsi vs Coke or McDonald's Vs Burger king, some of the guys need to relax a bit. Does this stuff really bother you. I mean one of my post were used too, and to be frank, I don't care, to me this is all out of two companies competing against eachother, and if anything 2k started this up and just like anyone do, EA and the LIVE crew defended themselves, that's how I see it. Not a big deal, for the one who are complaining, I bet you will still buy both games again next year, so I say lets just dead this who convo.

This has to be not only one of the most pointless blogs that I've read, but it's also one of the weakest that I've read. Craig list ads? Random quotes from here (because some people from O.S, a widely considered sim community, likes your game, that's suppose to give you extra clout)? I should've known what I was in store for after reading the opening. Your a community manager and you're calling people haters because they don't like the game, or they may have something bad to say about it? "OMG, they don't like the game, it must means their haters." The funny thing about that is, I think a lot people took that mentality here in this very forum; if you say something bad about the game, you either bashing, or hating (which is why I tend to stay away from this forum); not taken into account how legitimate the gripes may be. But of course that's the case (because we all know Live 10 is heaven sent to us, with no flaws, and in this guys' own words, its "the clear choice" (core gameplay, online play, presentation, and features *gasps*, pardon me I had to laugh at the last two things he listed.)

This guy needs to learn the difference between language that is qualified and language that is absolute because saying Live is the clear choice, and that the people have spoken is simply not true. I think the most hardened Live fan could admit that their are things in the competitions game that are done better, and that they would like to see implemented in a Live game in the future. On the latter part of the quote, speaking from my own experience, there were TON of Live games still on the shelf when I went to go make my purchase. I was on my 3rd store before I found my first copy of 2K10 because it was sold out at the first two places that I went to. In addition, the early projections have 2K10 outselling Live on all platforms by a substantial margin. So yeah, it sounds like the people have spoken, just not in the way that was said they have; at the very least, he should've waited until the official NPD numbers were release because it's not a good look to say things like "the people have spoken", but then turn around and get outsold by a 2-1 margin. That's no longer shooting yourself in the foot, that's a self-inflicting head shot.

That Ronnie dude isn't in the clear either because I've read what he had to say, and that wasn't the first time he threw a stone. Why is he so concerned with Live when the game he's associated with, has a ton of glitches, and problems in its own right. Worry about releasing a patch that's suppose to fix a million things from the retail (all the while not messing up anything else), and just have a cup of STHU. I'm telling you, EA would've been better served at just ignoring the guy because stooping a level even lower than the one he's at, makes you look even worse than he does.

Totally agree. Sad thing is that this does sound childish on both parties parts. EA should have turned the other cheek. They should have taken the traditional 2k role, "we're David to 2k's Goliath." Just like when 2k quietly turned the NFL2k series into something that made Tiburon wet their pants. Speak softly and build a great game. That's one thing the Fifa team did. And they are now king of the Soccer gaming world. Let the fans talk the trash, just give us the greatest B-Ball game of all time. But, I'll say one thing, I'm really feeling the general gameplay/sim feel. Gives me the same warm fuzzy feeling I had with Fifa08..... Come on Live '12!
                              Note to Tiburon Marketing:

A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

This was bluntly immature by both of the companies.
Now, while I own both games, I am hoping that this will fire up 2ksports to giving out the best patch ever.
