Before the patch the perimeter game was nearly perfect, now it can be downright frustrating, especially online.

Last night I had a chance to tie the game with a 3, I drove with Paul and drew the defense in before kicking out to a perfectly placed Peja in the corner for a 3, instead of staying put where he should be Peja took 2 steps in while receiving the pass. He hit the shot, but because shooters don't seem to have any concept of where they are on the court it was a long 2.

FRUSTRATING. The reception logic was fine before the patch. Please either put it back to the way it was before or tweak it so shooters stay on the perimeter and don't step into the defense when they receive passes.
There's been a problem with CPU players stepping out of bounds / running a play and your SF, SG etc would have both feet out.

I am guessing that they moved the players in a bit to avoid this / make it less common.

It's not good though if they are now doing what you say, positioning poorly when you need a 3 ball.

Re: Am I the only one that actually LIKES the pre-patch play?

Pre patch wing players would run out of bounds while they were breaking down court, if you passed to them too early they would often still be out of bounds, but if you passed to them at the right time they would step into the pass perfectly at the 3pt line. Now players run the break in bounds, which is great, but when you try to hit them for a quick 3 they'll step into the mid range area towards the defense.

The big problem here is the game doesn't recognize where players are on the court. Shooters simply don't stay in their spots. The "step into the pass" animation is great, but it happens at the wrong times and where they are stepping into makes no sense (the defense or a long 2).

The same issues occur with players positioning in the corners and around the perimeter. For example, Steve Blake shouldn't be standing on the 3pt line or a foot in, he should be right in the corner for a 3 and he needs STAY THERE when I pass him the ball.

Players like Blake also make cuts to the basket at horrible times. When I'm breaking down the D with Roy I'm going to want him in that corner, why would Blake cut to the basket where he's just going to get blocked or miss when he's wide open in the corner?

Players still randomly stand like 10 feet back from the 3pt line elbow extended and do nothing too, just watching the play. Thats an issue with the AI I thought the patch would address but it didn't.

The perimeter game was so good pre-patch. I'm not sure why they needed to change the reception logic but it needs major tweaking now. I'm not so sure they can fix it though, or if they're even going to try to. They did refer to it as "improved", I can't seem to find any improvements though.

        Great summary + comments. Thanks.

        I want the back down button + I need the DNA...so i'm going to d/l the patch(es).

I guess people can make their decision whether they want to d/l it though. Some people would probably prefer the stuff you just mentioned wasn't changed.

If what JWill is saying is true I'm not touching the patch, it'll kill my entire offense with the Knicks.

Can you easily delete a patch if after you DL it?

Yeah if you go to the dashboard, settings and select hard drive they now give you the option to clear the cache. Before you had to put in some button combo but they got rid of that. It will get rid of any patches or updates you have for all your games though.

Will it delete all saves/replays as well?

Am I in the minority who has never used the right click post up?

Ity just gets in my way, and it actually causes my ballhandler to sometimes go into a back down animation on simple drives to the basket. hopefully they'll clean that up in patch #2

                  I totally agree.

This is one of the reasons why I don't like 2k. Live post patch just feels like you don't have as much control of everything as it did pre patch.

Even the freestyle dribbling and size ups seem more sluggish and like you have less control of your player. Live feels very 2kish as far as control goes right now. Was much better pre patch.

Re: Am I the only one that actually LIKES the pre-patch play?

I enjoyed game play more pre-patch (360 user). Post patch just feels like you have less control at both ends. There have been some improvements, but I feel like it was over tweaked to "fix" some problems that I think weren't necessarily problems but had to do with how people played the game differently. The spacing just feels a bit off after the patch. The CPU defense is able to stay with you better than before, but it seems like when the user defends that the CPU gets what it wants at times.
I know people had issue with the step back move being too productive, but now it seems like it has no effectiveness, and as a result the mid range game has suffered a bit. I still like the game and have tried to adjust accordingly. Just my two cents...

No, clearing the cache just removes all the title updates. So the next time you load your other games they will re-install the patch. (if they have one)
