Re: NBA Live 10 Patch #2 Available For 360, Post Impressions Here
Excellent impressions. Good to hear
Wow, took me longer to read through all this than to play 12 min quarter game, LOL. I am a big personal responsibility advocate so keep that in mind when reading my post.
First out my limited experience with Patch #2 I'd say it's a major improvement. About 70% back towards pre-patch #1.
1. Still doesn't punish you for over dribbling but it does punish you for running into the lane w/at least some idea of what you're going to do, just not as much as pre-patch #1.
2. The auto protect the ball is still there but I tested it on a couple and pick and rolls and it's not as much of a problem anymore.
3. Jumpshots seem harder to make now, but they may be that I haven't played since the early days of patch #2
4. Suction D seems to be gone, YIPPEE!!!
4.a. Cat and mouse D (playing the angles) seems to be back for the most part! yippee!
I really hope the devs don't read this thread to seek advice as to what to do with Live 11. There are guys who simply can't play complaining about stuff that would really screw the game up. (Sorry, nothing personal) R1 magnetic field!? R1 is just supposed to be something to help (operative word is HELP) you play D not play it for you. Let go of R1 back off of your check (unless you're much faster than he is) when he's moving and close out when he shoots! On Ball Defense 101. Why on earth would they make it so that we'd hold a button down and watch the CPU play D for us? Shucks if they do that why even have to hold the button down, why not just let the CPU take over on D? It's not that hard to defend the cheese 3pt shots or any jumpers for that matter. Use it to your advantage that you know no matter where he runs you know where his goal is and just back up a little and keep yourself between him and the basket (that will require minor sliding side to side not cat-like reflexes) and then close out on the shot with the proper timing. One quick hint is that the proper time to make him miss isn't as soon as he releases the ball unless he's real close to the basket. Personal responsibility dictates that when one reaches an unfavorable result that he ask himself what did I do wrong not blame it on something someone else did, even if it's their fault.
Sorry for the rant but I just fear that the complainers will turn Live into 2K then I'll have nothing to play. It's been that way since patch #1 now it's back to being playable for me. One other question for you guys that give EA business advice: How many of you run a business?
One last impression is that the flow and feel to the game is back in the direction of pre-patch #1, YIPPEE!!!!!! Sorry for my tone in this post but I feel that the complainers contributed to Patch #1 and I don't want them to contribute to Live 11, especially after all the progress that was made in Live 10 (at launch)
