Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I played the demo once. I was actually pretty satisfied at first through the tutorials and learning the controls; this is an area that has been lacking in NBA games I have played since hopping over to next-gen. I got a good idea of what you can do with/as an individual player on the court and how it would fare well against either a human or CPU opponent (would make for some good 2-on-2 streetball action as well, I suppose).
But when it translated over to the game, the control seems to have not been there anymore. The crossovers and spin moves that I learned were practically unavailable, and I'm not talking about trying to use Davis with them either. Even when they did work, the CPU just stuck onto me like a magnet, almost as if he predicted my move before I actually did it (maybe it's set like that in that they know what control I performed before the on-screen appearance, I'm unsure). It made the awesome dribble control all for naught. Regardless, I'm glad this demo didn't keep me on a broadcast camera so that I wouldn't disorient myself with the proper right-stick controls. I miss that way of playing sometimes.
Control seemed to pretty much be the only big thing to speak about when it came to the Elite demo, in my opinion. I'd like to think that it's not my TV, but the arena was overall pretty dark. I don't just mean it in a MSG kind of dark, but even the darker colored players nearly appeared like silhouettes on my TV. I know some EA games (maybe not the sports games though) have a gamma slider setting, so perhaps this is set in the final product of the game. But normal dribbling looked funky and rebounds were pretty quick in terms of coming up and down. The "auto strafe" just might benefit one control-wise, but the appearance of it makes it seem a bit too much like a video game. Obviously this is a video game, but a lot of sports games these days are really shaking up their games to get a big boost of authenticity, and Elite doesn't seem to support that notion. I didn't recall any signature jumpers, but I only played through the demo once. I also didn't get a taste of RTP yet, but I'm sure it's definitely in there for drives in the paint, something which I wasn't able to penetrate very easily.
The audio is what I think was the biggest gripe for me. I was so accustomed to witnessing a game that boasted some very real sounding presentation overall (believe it or not I am not referring to 2K11), and Elite falls very flat in comparison IMO. It was very difficult for me to get immersed in it. There's not much to say about this department though, I'm sure everyone can hear it in their demos and in the videos.
Overall I was actually very pleased for a change when I saw the tutorials boasting the complete user control, and I think that's a good basis for what should have been in basketball games for the past five years. But when we're already climaxing these consoles and they've just gotten to this step while pulling back on other aspects, I can't really do too much to defend EA in their position which they put themselves in. The demo will stay on my HDD and if I was more interested in basketball this year maybe I would even be inclined to give it a fair shake with a rental so I could tweak sliders and such, but it's still a long time coming for this renowned basketball game franchise IMO.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
is it me or does the dribble moves have little to no affect on the CPU, I always thought a cross over was done to create separation and not just switching from hand to hand, it also seems that if you are no performing dribble moves the entire time you will get the ball stripped.PSN=Coolcas7Comment

After logging a good amount of time with the demo, I must say I have mixed feelings.
Things I like:
The total control concept (but still needs work)
Feeling more connected to the ball
Sound: The announcers, well done.
Not feeling stuck between animations
Become Legendary Mode, looks fun.
Things I Disliked:
Player animation are very clunky and robotic off the ball.
Some players at times seem to “speed bust” (only when not handling the ball)
Lack of signature moves, vanilla basketball with physics.
Spacing and player movement on offense is random, feels like Coleco Football
Sound: Ball hitting rim sounds weird.
Net + Ball interaction. The way the ball passes through the net you'd think the net was made of jack-chain.
Overall I respect EA for attempting to take basketball to a new level, but I think they're coming out a year too yearly with this product. I would have perfected Live 11 and had Elite 12 when it was truly ready to shine.
People crack on the graphics, which I can understand, but I would have been fine with it if the overall gameplay was there. Gameplay > Graphics
I'll check in next year for Elite 12.
Good luck devs.NFL - Cincinnati Bengals

Though i liked the game, and having fun playing, it has gotten stale faster than i thought and lack of authenticity cries out.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Looking at player models, I dont get why some players look so much better than compared with Live 10. Brandon Jennings is such a big improvement compared to last years game. Same with KD. Trying to get a hang of these controls, but so far, I'm not liking them all too much along with the graphics.
KG on the other hand, is so freaking ghoulish looking in this game especially at the freethrow line. I couldnt put my finger on why KG looks so dang scary in this demo, but I realized what and why it reminded me of this:

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
My biggest complaint with the demo is that 5-on-5 plays 100 miles an hour. They're skating and morphing and just flying up and down the court. Is there going to be a game speed setting on the retail version that I can turn waaaay down?Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
To be honest, Live 10 was better to me. I didn't like the demo at all. Graphically and gameplay wise, I wasn't satisfied. Don't hate on my opinions, that's just how I feel.Comment

I wasn't sure if you made this statement as a negative or positive anyway, but I can certainly defend EA for what they did. Again, they have finally found a proper basis with control schema and RTP, and I hope it doesn't get scrapped or changed too much from here... but they still have a long way to go everywhere else, including gameplay features which as a result end up affecting both controls and physics.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Roll R-stick to the right or left for hooks.
Pull back on left stick and shoot for fadeaways
Hold left trigger and push left stick towards the direction the players is facing to do a two step jumper.
Hold left trigger and push left towards the opposite direction to a drop step.
And there's a couple more moves just go into practice mode and give them a try..Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
After playing this demo a little more, I still HATE it. I have played NBA Live for years now and I absolutely LOVE NBA Live 10.
The problem with Elite 11 is many.
Why take out the Turbo? That is ridiculous and a deal breaker for me.
Why change the controls? The new controls just don't work well enough in 5 on 5 and you cannot go back to NBA Live 10 controls.
Graphics - NBA Live 10 looks wayyyyyy better. Much better colors, detail, animations, etc. Elite 11 looks pretty bad.
Bottom line, I would not even buy Elite 11 for $30. It's a ruined game. They need to go back and build off of NBA Live 10.Comment

Coming from a long time live player, this demo is disappointing. As many have stated before, why didn't they build off of live 10, which I thought was great. In all seriousness, I thank the EA devs for providing the best sports demo ever in terms of it being robust. Say what you want but they could've just given us a 5 minute demo and called it a day. They are being so upfront about everything and that refreshing to see all around - especially the NCAA team. I am in the minority that likes the game (and yes, I"m a ridiculously huge fan of another hoops title that shouldn't need to be named) and I see the vision they have for it. They are trying to make a NBA game for ballplayers (b/c you can control everything as if you were really in that situation) which I love. The total control - like FNR4 - is what keeps me playing this demo. I can overlook graphics and headbands and sock colors. I'm not going to address the issues that have been beaten to death. I think they get the point. Is is perfect - no. Its funny how people now "loved" Live 10 today b/c they play Elite 11 when I'm sure that wasn't the case previous to its numerous patches. It's not THAT much worse that Live 10 overall and you've all played this game for less than 72 hours.
I don't think this demo is even bad - in fact this entire situation reminds me of the BackBreaker fiasco on here (a game I enjoy still) and that's disheartening b/c we live in a society of few leaders and many followers and I think many of the opinions expressed on here are based on either reading this thread and THEN PLAYING or NOT EVEN PLAYING THE GAME AT ALL (band-wagoners).
I don't post a lot but visit and read here DAILY so these are just my impressions of the situation on here and the game.
I'll post a full in depth viewpoint of the demo after I've played it for a few days - like Friday.Comment
