Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I played some more some of this demo tonight don't ask me why.....
But i think EA would have done much better by simply allowing the game to play more uptempo
Call me crazy but if your not going to cater to SIM style players why not let the game flow.
If the fastbreak logic wasn't so messed up this would probably be a solid game for those just looking to get up and the down floor Phoenix or Golden St style.
Less bad animation you have to witness if your running and gunning and less flaws you'd see in the AI during halfcourt sets. Maybe if possible they could open up the transistion game with a patch.
I mean if your asking us to waite 2-3 years before everything comes together atleast make the gameplay fun.......let us dictate the tempo pick up the pace and just work in transistion. I could probably enjoy it playing that style because it suits my Mavs.
Make the CPU aggressive in transition like they were in Live 07.....the best part of that game was it's ability to get out and run. I'd rather see high flying dunks than a bunch whack looking layups or erractic jumpers in the paint with guys facing away from their own basket.
How about it EA can this be done or what?
Compliment the controls with a uptempo game because i can't see this game functioning properly in the half court. Most of these guys are going to hate playing offline because of the AI but hey one way to make AI fun for offline play is get them out running the floor. Speed up the tempo take it back 3-4 years when the game excelled in the open floor.
Kinda like Phoenix and Golden St you aren't going to win the crown at the end of day but hey your fans will love the style of play despite your short comings in the other parts of the game.
Hell over half the league is trying to play uptempo now and lots of squads use a 3 guard lineup at different stages of a game. Give that USER who just can't stomach the bad animations or half court play by the CPU a reason to keep playing the game.
A game dominated by Fastbreak basketball might not be what your was coming in but for this year I think it would help more than hurt the community because they'll atleast have something beyond controls that makes them find the game entertaining.....it's a crazy idea i know but you might be shocked by how many guys stick around and use that approach even if its just for pick up and play games.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I people mindlessly spam down on the stick for steals... they are going to get roasted.
There's no way you are going to be able to recover to contest a shot, or cut off a drive.
I pray someone plays me like that
I think people are anticipating multi-player problems, before they are even there.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I OPENLY BLASTED THIS DAYS AGO.
I still think it's a work in progress, but I do need to share something rather extraordinary.
I've now showed both demos to 4 other people and ALL OF THEM preferred NBA Elite's graphics over 2K11. Really. I have to actually agree here now. I put the camera on broadcast and the players are bigger and clearer, the courts and backgrounds more smooth as well. This is playing on a 52 inch plasma running 1080p.
I did not see that coming."Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
With the above being said, I still feel like players move like robots without ANY fluidity. Ugh, that's my biggest complaint. What was supposed to give us more control just might do that in the long run, but animation-wise, this game is a jittery, my-favorite-robot mess. And that really makes me mad... basketball's fluidity is VITAL to the magic and beauty of the sport."Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I think most of the people's problem or issues about the game including me area the controls. I am used to the old controls that the new control scheme frustrates me. The graphics is a concern too but i'm more into the gameplay and how fun is it to play.
Last night as i was playing/practicing, my daughter (8yr old) asked if she can try and play. I was like sure go ahead, we can try the 1 on 1 practice mode for the fun of it. I told her left stick to move and right stick to shoot and steal the ball. What amazed me was she picked it up real quick, even stole the ball from my player, go for a dunk, crossovers etc. she did have a hard time with timing the release of the jump shots though. She made me laugh when she asked to try the 5 on 5 game and she'll be the Lakers! But overall i'm thinking, here is my daughter, who only knows how to play LBP (Little Big Planet) and does not really play a lot of NBA game or a lot of experience be able to control and even see that she also enjoys the game and controls?
I was thinking maybe i'm over thinking stuff and just got used to the previous games. I was at the fence most of the time, one day liked it, the next day furious and ready to give up. I tried the game again with open mind, and now i'm enjoying it..seriously. A few nights ago, i was playing and one game didn't even score or maybe scored only 2 points, now learning the game and paying more attention to details (making sure the ball is on the defensive side when using the pick, if not it will be stolen, use of 'cuts' wow!, playcalling, trying to steal the ball most of the time will get you burned, using the lowpost moves, loving the L1 button) i can now easily defeat the computer in superstar. There are times the games are close and really feel good when Kobe or Pierce hit the game winner. The elite demo really is starting to "grow" on me and would love to get the full game.
If this is the only game out there, i'm pretty sure i will be enjoying this version on NBA Elite this year, but seeing that there is another game out there people won't have that open mind of trying something new and stick to something that feels safe. also, since MJ is on the cover i'm almost sure i'll be getting the game no matter what.
I've tried both demos so far and have found myself playing the Elite more.
My only other problem now is that my 3 year old son wants to join in the fun and wants to take my controller.Comment

Iv comee conclusion, that in order to get the CPU to play with any life on offense, superstar difficulty is the way to go.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
there's this guy online, played him a bunch of times and whenever he's on the break, it's almost automatic 2. i called him master of offball switching and to a point close to cheesing but it's not unstoppable. (well unless he uses the Cavs)Comment

I made a video comparison between Elite and Live 10 because I kept reading how 10 looked so much better but IMHO they look almost the same - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0QpgU4aK5YComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
With free throws, why did EA decide to put the aim/power gauge visible? If we have to take jump shots without it then shouldn't free throws work the same way? It makes free throws way too easy (even on superstar)...Comment
