Well NHL 11 is pretty realistic compared to NHL 2k.

Same thing will happen to NBA Elite in the long term. NBA 2k will get worse and NBA Elite will get better.

People are just mad because it is not NBA arcade anymore. You actually have to have skill to play. If anything this is GREAT for hardcore NBA guys because they can control all their players movement instead of pressing a button and having the game decide what happnens

Why ? these are totally different dev teams developing NBA 2k and NHL 2k and the same goes for EA NHL and NBA Elite.
EA Sports is the leader in the hockey games market and 2k in the basketball games market. Why exactly would that change now ? (Not that it couldn't, I just don't see your reasoning why it should).

I will say this, NBA elite's control has potential. Not sure that I like this all skill shoot thing as there will be controller masters that can perfect it and knock down 3s all day but the rest of it has potential. They just need to add more animations and overhaul the AI, which frankly is terrible even compare to NHL 11's braindead teammate AI(hey, look, our D man has the puck, let's stand around the neutral zone and not get open). I remember NHL 07 being pretty crude but it was still pretty close to 2K7's game play and the revolutionary(for the time) control scheme made me choose 07. Elite 11 isn't even really close to 2K11 IMHO.

NHL 11's overall AI is fine if you play be a gm though.

Shouldn't most players (like in the NBA for example) SPRINT around the screen and get a sharp first step???

Positive
The controls are very smooth
Audio is top notch
Free throw shooting system is really good
Players actually jump for shot fakes

Negatives
No sprint button
Hook shot 3 point glitch
Playbooks need WORK(Artest get open is a play, SERIOUSLY???)
Kobe doesn't play like Kobe
Rondo takes WAY too many shots
J O'Neal turned into Dwight Howard on some rebounds

"Physics" have taken the place of motion capturing players to get realistic movement. Players dont have their sig jumpers, all dribble the dame way, all run the same way, and slide around the floor. Bynum is dribbling like Derrick rose in the demo on superstar level Budget cuts at EA or saving some $$$?

For a company worth billions?? I don't think so. The team working on Elite isn't talented enough. Wonder if EA still had Mike Wang as their gameplay designer, where this game would be right now.. Maybe Mike saw where this game was heading, and decided to leave and join 2K again. Like many said NBA Live 10 was a step in the right direction, but Elite looks to have taken a number of steps back.

EA needs to hire a new team to work on this game next year, or the series will continue to suffer. So will their fan base, and sales. Just my opinion.

Watch the video, and listen to someone who knows how to make a good basketball game. The departure of Mike from EA, was the beginning of the end for the series IMO.

I totally disagree about the talent. It's clear they have the talent in that company. In my opinion, they made decisions that I totally disagree with. But talent is not an issue. If Wang was still there, you would still have much of what you see. To a point, you only have so much influence on the final product. If they restart the team, they're dead. How many reset and passes would they get. They've committed to this direction and will supposedly stick with it for three years.

Again, this is just silly. So if Mike was there, you think he would have had the power to say no to Littman!? Stop the hero worship. At the most, if you believe this is the "end" as you say, then Mike's leaving was only a SIGN, not a trigger. HUGE difference.
