On the 1 hand, 2K seems to be the best NBA game ever made in the traditional style; the definitive game before the world moves on to new directions. Yet, 2K controls suck. And for all the love 2K11 has for its animations, Elite looks better sometimes.

Example:

Walking animations when not "in-game" (like time outs, or end of quarter). Elite looks like the players are walking, 2K looks robotic and jerky, and changes in direction aren't smooth.

Elite face models might be matte but still looks slightly better than the 2K faces. Kobe looks like an alien in 2k11. And the facial animations in 2K are horrific.

Elite is more fun, but so rough that it is hard justifying a purchase.

Do I need an NBA game? If I HAVE to get a sports game, I can get FIFA. Or even NHL. All of which are excellent renditions of their respective genres.

So, I am still undecided. I know I am tempted by Elite in terms of fun, and tempted by 2k11 in terms of significance. But I am sold on neither.

I guess we'll see how the net codes are for these games, and how the game modes turn out"

gotta disagree on the bold sections. competition controls for 11 are much improved over previous years.

many here stating not feeling controls of elite so much. passing horrible. cant get by the defenders because of glue defense. feels sluggish.

faces? see kg in elite. looking scary. but faces can be subjective.

more fun? elite, imo, uuuhhh no.

funny how mentioning other sports game from EA makes one an EA fanboy.

NHL and FIFA just happen to be great sports games released around the same time as the NBA games, thus the mention.

2K's control doesnt suck? imo, lol, uhhh yes it does. Its being better than last year really doesnt mean anything; because it still sucks. the NBA games, both of them, just aren't up to par with other sports games on the market; EA or otherwise.

Can you deliberate on this how does 2k's control suck when it gives the true feeling of true player control as you would play in real life using weight and momentum the controls were slightly tough at first but i caught on to them being i've played real basketball in real life when you cross someone you dance with them getting them to lean one way and not the other. Your not just flicking the sticks around your trying to cross over with purpose. Each motion is of something you would do in real life fake left explode right hesitation stop and shoot. THe controls get better as you learn the moves and show when you play its not random and everyone can't do the same moves. Elite controls do show someplayer skill but are they truly in depth would me learning the controls a week from now be any different from you who've played with the controls a month from now?

"ea supporters" in the since that your posts are positive for elite.

"other game" mentioned was in regard to other company's bball game, not other ea games.

i never said fanboy, but you clearly do not like the other company's product this year...

again you use suck to describe the competition, so now you come across as a fanboy. as for controls, the other company controls better, imo. good to have choices, sorry to offend you.

the problem with elite, imo, is i cant even spend time learning the controls, cause everything else in the game(ANIMATIONS #1) is like a bball game circa 2005.

you conveniently didnt address the faces, go look at kg in elite.

other nba game gonna be sports game of the year, imo. we'll know soon enough. you are free to disagree, but you will be in the vast minority

hope elite can compete next year, as i dont want other company slacking off for next year.



edit: just watched the 3pt hook shot video. that dude has some good control shooting, and hitting, all those 3 ptrs. lol

This is false.

Mike Wang took what was in Live 09, and cleaned it up.

NBA Live 10 had no 2k in it whatsoever.

THen how come when live 10 was coming out all they was talking about was new motion cap and hundreds of mot cap sessions and 2k9 was all about this and 2k8 live 10 was the only game in the series to have smooth animation transition jsut like 2k when before there animations were created using computers

I voted no. The physics and control are nice, and they're what initially wanted me to try Live/Elite this year, but everything else is lacking. Perhaps one day i may get it and do some online play in the EASBL, but i rarely play sports games online.

I stopped buying Basketball titles up until last year when I read reviews where the gameplay improved with Live10. I picked it up and had some fun with it. With this years version I'm going to pass. I'm not feeling the new controls with the right stick. I see it working for NHL but for a hoops game I don't like it. I think EA took a few steps backwards IMO going back to that metered jump shot. It reminds me too much like Inside NBA and some of those ol'skool titles on the old consoles.

I was going too. I honestly was but then, I heard some of the Czars points on a youtube video, listened to Ronenic and Gideon Prime youtube... And I'm not a follower but I just cant do it. I enjoyed the game and how it controls even if it is flawed. But I saw what reAnimator wrote and I just couldn't believe what I was reading. I respect his integrity, but as a sim gamer, as a young working man.... When I read what he wrote... I was just disappointed... They cut corners? For the direction they're trying to go in but, I mean Im 22 years old.... I dont believe in putting the money I work for in a product that you guys cut corners to put out... Even if I enjoyed the game!... I have too much integrity for that and I cant support that. I just can't, even if I liked the game. As someone who is a sim basketball gamer(and if you dont believe me pm me and when 2k11 comes out I'll show you wats up) I like the ability to play sim style if you wish but cheesers online are gonna destroy the experience... Just can't believe a bunch of men gathered together to put together a game where they can say they had sacrifice in this area and that area... Cutting corners and getting away from what Sim gamers like.... Because yo, 2k blew up off the strength of what SIM GAMERS what saying to people... I hadn't seen 2k marketing ads on tv until last year... There marketing is never as strong as EA's never.... Sim gamers are the ones you have to turn into believers before you see results from casual gamers when it comes to sports.... Just disappointed in the those guys and I can't support that... sorry. More integrity from them and then maybe I'll but Elite 12... if they have enough funds to produce it. And Im new to the operation sports community so I also wanted to say wats up everybody! lol Peace.

Czar has NEVER influenced me one way or the other. As a matter of fact, he praised 2K10 to no end and I thought it was horrible. He seems to be bashing Elite 11 and I have found the demo to be very fun and more enjoyable than the 2K11 demo.

I put little to zero stock in reviews of others and I rely on my own opinions because in the end, it's my money that is being spent.

Its a no for me b/c i think live 10 was a step forward then elite 11 was 5 steps back. Just about everything in elite 11 has gotton worse from last year and i don't understand. I always think of things like if it aint broke don't fix it but it seems like they changed everything from live 10 when i felt like the game was on the right path to being in competition again. Oh well thank god for demos so i can see what im playing before i buy.
