Damm...that's crazy stuff man. EA must be super tight if they don't even give you guys a few free copies for family and friends.

Can you imagine U2 or AC/DC having to buy copies of their own CDs from the rec company? LOL.

We get one free copy of the game we make, 6 free games per year, and can buy EA games at $20 each.

All and all it's a good deal.

But getting a copy of Elite will not be a trivial task

I have a build of the game I can play any time I want, but the retail discs aren't just lying around.

They are manufactured somewhere, and shipped off to the retail outlets.

We usually don't get our free copy until well after the ship date.

Sometimes the company store gets the games on release day, sometimes they get them a week late.

But we have to pay to get them. Can't just walk in and take one.

Since these are being pulled from retail, they will never make it to the EA store.

It's funny how I take this as a given but everyone pictures something different.

I'm just askin' because it seems like they could give you guys a copy and it wouldn't hurt their pockets much. Revenue is $402 billion !

It's my understanding that the game had already been shipped to some retailers and now EA is having to "buy back" the stock before they hit the street date with the announced delay and everything

First and foremost..I am still in disbelief that this game got delayed/canceled,and that in my opinion, the gaming community was the reason. I also feel that with the handfull of users on this website who saw hope for this game EA should do an exclussive online only sale of this game. I'll still pay my hard earned sixty bucks for it. I still cant figure out how playing one quarter of a game can generate so much hate for a game that it gets it canceled one week before release. I guess this game and Dream Team basketball on the PSX will be hidden jems i countinue to scour the internet searching for..much like the fact i still feel Tupac is still alive. Or Ea can sell or give the supporters of the game a copy just so they can get gamer feedback for there next bball game.

I would still like to get my hands on a copy.. I started asking around on eBay so I wonder if anyone actually has them in stock. I really feel like it's a shame they pulled the plug. While it was far from perfect I was having fun learning all the moves so I was really looking forward to getting this game... Hopefully I can find a copy somewhere still

only onle sale? do you know how much space elite taakes up? we're talking about 7-9gbs. The community was right that this game got canceled/delayed. its not haate, it just wasn't too polished.

That's the question I have. Amazon hasn't cancelled my pre-order (I pre-ordered it for NBA Jam, I was going to sell it immediately after), and their online chat support guy said as far as he knows, its shipping on Oct. 4th. If they actually shipped it to me, would there be a code in it, and would the code work?

So rEA are you saying there could be copies out there?? and if there are is there any type of agreement policy saying retailers have to send it back? I ask because I called my buddy who happens to be manager at gamestop, he says they didnt recieve any at store, but he's calling his guy at the distribution center for gamestop to see if they recieved a shipment of Elite and if there isnt a policy in place, he's gonna try and snag couple copies for him and I.
