Yes and wouldnt be surprised if they have already done that.

No, EA would not be obligated to pay bigball back. Look at it this way: I steal a TV from Steve and sell it to you. Steve finds out that you have his TV and calls the cops. Cops confirm that its Steve's TV and give it back to him. Steve isnt obligated to reimburse you. Your only course of action would be to come after me.

    Same situation here for bigball.

If they were more cooperative, then maybe people would think "well, at least EA is being nice about it", as opposed to disliking EA even more.

If they just let everybody see it they could have just released it in the 1st place. They're protecting their brand. This isnt anything any of us wouldnt do in the same position.

I appreicate what bigball is trying to do ,but hopefully this is a learning lesson for him. About buying products in this fashion.

Question to bigball. Did you receive the game in some form of package or did you just receive the case opened?

It was fully packaged, in a different case. Full manual, and papers.

Well, I don't know about you, but I would, to improve my PR. It only hurts your brand even more when you confirm people's beliefs that EA is some sort of villain. Strategically speaking, it's better to be perceived as the "nice" company in this situation than to be considered the bad guy, in spite of Elite's quality. I think you would concede that people ALREADY know that Elite isn't/wasn't a very good product, so, having videos removed isn't going to help that. However, what EA COULD do is improve their overall image and look more appealing to customers. Keeping developers from giving interviews and policing the Internet for videos is only causing people to criticize EA even more as a company, which doesn't bode too well for their sales next year, when Elite 12 comes out.

Sure, they're within their rights to keep people from seeing Elite in action, but that's like hiding your naked self from your girlfriend. It's nothing she hasn't seen before. You can always make an effort to make yourself look more impressive to her, though.

Also, the reason it's not the same as releasing Elite 11 is that people don't have to pay to watch videos. There's a great difference between watching a video for free and feeling sympathy for EA, and feeling ripped off and lied to because you were asked to $60 dollars on a bad video game.

EA is just doing what they think is right. Sorry, BB12, but the seller kinda goofed by making it available in the first place. No fault of yours, you bought the game outright.
I think a better analogy is if someone released a leaked copy of the end of a big budget movie before the movie was actually released.

The studio would be well within their rights to try and stop the distribution of the footage to protect their investment.

There's content in the game that would lose some of its value if everyone saw it.

                Just my two cents.

Thanks for a response, but what in this game would lose value? I do not plan on doing streams or videos again btw. Do a lot of people at EA know about this?

I'd be interested in knowing this. I mean, haven't we already seen what the gameplay was going to be like?

People who watch a movie before it is released in theaters will say "I don't want to pay for this because I've seen it already." People who see footage of a game before it is released will not say this. If anything they will want the game more(if they like what they see). That's why game shows like E3 are successful.

I think it would be better to say that this kind of footage may damage people's perspectives of the finished game. Because it no longer represents what the game actually is.

It's kinda beyond the point of getting attention, that's already happened. Ea knows he has Elite, and can easily figure out who he is.

Oh, so what's been their excuse the past several years as a company?

This isnt the first clunker they've had. To be honest, the ONLY reason this delay happened is b/c those YouTube vids of the demo went viral. EA had egg on their face. But if they didnt get embarrassed like that, they still would've released the game knowing full well all of it's issues.
