Re: LIVE FANS: What do you like about the Live series in general ?

I agree with Johnny Woodcocks assessment of Live. I used to get it every year, (except for 98-2002, b/c there was only one version of the game on the N64, and NBA Courtside Part II was one of the best and most underrated games that not a lot peeps played and I was hooked on it). I have a GC and now a PS2, so my options were limited but that being said, I really enjoyed it last year. Yes it was fast, but I prefered the faster games due to the fact I am a big fan of bball in the '80s. That being said, once you put fatigue on and the difficulty level, the game slows down considerably. As for the high shooting %'s, you pick your poison. I would rather have that is challenging and has high shooting %'s than a game that is trying so hard to be a sim that you miss too many easy shots.

I actually had NBA 2K3, but got bored with it pretty quickly. Is live perfect??? By no means, but it had a fun package. I will be getting it this year, but I will check out ESPN, as it looks like the action will be a little bit faster. I think everyone also has it in mind that if the game is slower, its more NBA like. Even with the slow down that a lot of teams play, its more because of the talent level than them actually wanting to be slow. If I had an X-Box, I would love to try out the ID series, as I remember it as having the speed of the NBA (Not as fast a live, but still something that seemed like basketball), but weaving the sim aspects in so that action seems realistic without having to totally slow the game down just to get realistic stats.

Re: LIVE FANS: What do you like about the Live series in general ?

The signature moves in courtside 2 were could but you good drive and score every play and any guy, no matter what rating could drain 3's. But it still has the best 'iverson' crossover in any game to date!

Oh and did you know 2K games have speed settings? Slow, Normal (default) and Fast.

Another thing I didn't like about Live 2003, regardless of the speed and high scores...all the stats were wrong. You'd finish a game and see the point guard (didnt matter who he was) with between 15 and 30 assists, the top rebounder for the game would have 7 and there would be 4 guys with 30+ points.

2K3 is the closest I've seen to real scores and stats, and even close to getting all that right in 12 minute qtrs...(maybe 10 or 11 were perfect). But even some of their stats were wrong, unfortunately due to bugs, like a certain steal giving you 2 to's.

Also, when you got fouled in the act of shooting and missed the shot, the game would count that as a missed shot...nobody ever mentions that one...

uhhhh..yes it would. Go play and see. Drive to the hole, get fouled, miss the shot, see what your shooting percentage is. I know this for a fact. I owned the game, was playing as the Celtics, and had Paul Pierce driving every play to the hole. I would either score or get fouled (I hadn't missed a shot without getting fouled) My percentage should have still been 100%. But it wasn't. It was counting shots that were missed while getting fouled in the act of shooting. That, obviously, is incorrect, and helped to keep the shooting percentage down. Go check it out. Please...

I still own the game and I still play it. I've had times when I was perfect and I missed a shot when I got fouled and it never messed with my percentage.
